15 Ways to Get Over a Breakup Like a Grown Woman That dumb trope of "women eating ice cream in bed crying after a breakup" is out. (And sexist.) In fact, there's no better time than after a huge heartbreak for a total life renovation. 1. Either block or unfriend him on Facebook, because that shit will be the death of you. Maybe you assume you are a reasonable and mature lady- human who can handle seeing the occasional reminder of him on your Facebook timeline. You're both grown-ups, right! Except if u can stand looking @ him cuddling some dirty girls on his dp...u knw na "fori-fori"(to make u feel jellous) 2. Don't immediately suggest to "stay friends" — and if he does, tell him you need to think about it. This is an impulse because you don't want to seem like you care too much about the breakup. Because you're so chill. You're so chill that your heart isn't beating. And, you're dead. But truthfully, during this stilted, awkward breaking-up period, it's hard to tell whether you'll be able to be friends or not. Generally, one person wants to be friends and the other wants to be more. Gotta work that shit out before it can be a healthy friendship … if it ever can be. You're not admitting defeat by not staying friends with him. 3. If you feel an impulse to get drunk alone, call some friends instead. It's the worst being alone and sad and drunk. When you've just broken up with someone, you get all nihilistic, and because there is probably not a Hot Topic near you to get some Tailor Swift CDs, you get too hammered to see and wind up hooking up with a 50-year-old married man with a big pot-belly bathroom. At least be sad with people you love! We've all been heartbroken — it's not like they'll judge you for drinking wine with dirty hair, in Family Guy pajamas. 4. If you want to drunk-text, get your friend to take your phone away or throw it in a volcano. Oh, the number of times I have drunk-texted something cryptic to an ex at 2 a.m. and assumed if he texts back, he still has feelings for me. Drunk-texting an ex is a two-steps-forward-one-step-back slide down the rabbit hole. Him replying, "nothing," to your booze-fueled, "sup," does not mean you'll have a spring wedding. 5. Begin some kind of intense, rage-based workout routine. Maybe this isn't a good time for yoga! Maybe it's a good time for something new, like kickboxing. Really get some of that negative stuff out. 6. Spend a lot of time outside. It's a cliché, but fresh air really does clear your head. So does, you know, seeing the sun every once in a while. Take at least two hours from each day just to leave your Cave of Forgotten Dreams and interact with The Outside. 7. Rebound with one incredibly hot guy, if that's what you want, and then give yourself some time to decompress and remember who you are. Go out and get yourself some strange from a guy who is either a King of Leon or just has dirty hair. It's hard to tell the difference. But then slow down and be low- key for a while. If you've had one rebound, you've had them all, in this woman's opinion. 8. If you start dating someone else, take it really slow. Dude. You just ended a relationship and your heart flipped over and exploded like a tanker in a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie. If you take it step by step and enjoy it as a casual thing for a while, that'll give you some time to evaluate whether you're actually ready to be with someone again or if you're just ready to have really hot sex with them in an elevator once in a while. 9. Allow yourself to cry when you need to. Thus preventing a giant tidal wave of #feels to wash over you in the workplace, or the DMV, or anywhere else inappropriate. If you don't, you'll repress your feelings until you break down in the office pantry while you're microwaving your pasta and that passive-aggressive asshole Susan comes over and takes you to the women's bathroom and murmurs a bunch of vaguely religious-sounding proverbs like, "This too shall pass." And then every time you and Susan make contact afterwards, it will be weird. 10. If you get a Facebook invite to his best friend's party ... stay home, put a face mask on, eat Chinese, and watch House of Cards. There is always a strong temptation to show up with a fresh blowout and a low-cut J.Lo Grammys dress, and grind with his friend that you hate just to make him jealous. Eat your heart out , you think to yourself as you do a nasty seventh grade dance grind with the guy you once referred to as a "dicksnack tool slowpoke." Actually, assuming his best friend is some guy you don't really care about, going to that party still makes it all about him — not your emotional well-being. And seeing him will just pick the scab open. 11. Don't scheme to get him back — scheme to get yourself back. Get some solid book recs, join a pickup sports game, go on a trip somewhere with a girlfriend. Paint your bathroom; I don't care. Just do something for yourself. 12. Write him heartbroken letters and never send them. Get it all out — on paper, so as to avoid accidentally sending them. ( E is for the "Extremely messed up way you treated me." R is for "the rage I feel." I is for "I will never love again." C is for "I HATE YOU YOU DICKHEAD, HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME." Sent from reallyreallysad@gmail.com .) I bet that's how Alanis Morrissette wrote "You Oughta Know." 13. Avoid posting the details on Facebook. Or Twitter. Or Instagram. Or Tumblr. Live ya life! Airing your grievances on social media is not good for anyone, and it'll be embarrassing later. Who's gonna read it, anyway? Aunt Maggie? That girl you met during Welcome Week? 14. Take baths. Baths are half wallowing and half cleansing/pampering, and thus are perfect for breakups. When's the last time you really filled up your tub (clean it first, please) and had a good soak with a glass (bottle) of wine? Showers are not for the recently dumped. 15. Stop blaming yourself and thinking things like, "If only I'd watched more Bourne movies/dyed my hair blonde/given more rim jobs/was cooler." It takes two to break up — the problem wasn't just you, it was you two as a couple. It's almost reverse-narcissistic to blame yourself that much! If you try to look at the relationship from the outside, maybe you'll have an easier time seeing how you both contributed to the breakup. "If only" killed the dinosaurs. (Actually an asteroid did, but let's not quibble.) |

1. Be Organise List facts in alphabetical or chronological order. Get a general idea of the textbook material, note the simple to complex and general to specific. Logical facts are easier to remember. 2. Make It Meaningful Look for connections in what you are studying. For example, packing a parachute by itself can be boring, however, the excitement of jumping out of a plane gives a whole new meaning to this process. Focusing on the “Big Picture” helps provide meaning to the learning process and stimulates us to remember. 3. Create Associations Associate something new with something you already know. This creates a building process in your memory bank. If you already know a Bill Smith think of the Bill you know and associate him with the new Bill Smith. 4. Learn It Actively People remember 90 percent of what they do, 75 percent of what they see and 20 percent of what they hear. This saying is very accurate, as action is a proven memory enhancer. Move your hands, pace back and forth and use gestures as you recite a passage. If your body is actively involved it will help you to remember. 5. Relax Eating proper foods, avoiding caffeine before an exam and getting proper exercise will help you relax and feel more confident. Relaxing will enhance your ability to recall facts faster, with more clarity, and you will feel better overall. 6. Create Pictures Draw diagrams, make up cartoons. Use them to connect facts and illustrate relationships. When abstract concepts can be “seen” they are much easier to remember. You can be as creative as you want, as long as you understand your scribble. 7. Recite and Repeat When you repeat something out loud you anchor the concept better by using two or more of your senses. Repetition is the “Mother” of learning. If you use more than one sense you create a “synergistic” effect which is powerful memory technique. If you recite out loud in your own words, memory is enhanced even more! 8. Write It Down Writing notes to ourselves help us to remember. If we write down an idea or a passage several times, in different areas, we increase our chances to remember. 9. Reduce Interference Find an area free from distractions. Studies show that most students study more effectively in a quiet area in 1 hour than in a noisy area in 2 hours. 10. Over-learn When you think you got it don’t quit. Don’t miss a chance to review just one more time. Ever hear the expression “I beat that subject to death!” Do It! 11. Review Notes the Same Day Studies prove that in order for us to store information “long term” it must be reviewed within 24 hrs. or less. By getting in the habit of same day review, we increase the chances of remembering by over 70 percent! 12. Use Daylight This method is particularly effective for weekend study and review. Study the most difficult subjects during daylight hours. For many students the early morning hours can be especially productive and will stimulate the memory process. 13. Distribute Learning Research suggest marathon study sessions (3 hrs. or more) are not as effective as light study sessions (1-2 hrs.) which are distributed at different times during the week. Take frequent breaks. Some students can study 50 minutes or more, others need to stop after 30 minutes. Try to distribute your length of study in the same rhythm as your classes (50/10/50). Give yourself rewards, you’ve earned it! 14. Keep a Positive Attitude Studies prove that if you repeat to yourself negative feelings about a subject you increase your chances to fail! Since we all want to succeed, “Trash negative” and replace with “Positive Thoughts.” For example, replace “I can’t do it” with “It’s not easy, but I am tough and I accept this challenge.” Prove you can and you will! This is a self-fulfilling prophecy as attitude directly effects the memory! 15. Go On an “Information Diet” Just as we avoid certain foods, we can choose what not to retain. Extract core concepts, study what you will be tested on, abbreviate large passages of information into easy to digest phrases, this will help you remember. 16. Combine Memory Techniques All of the memory techniques work better when combined. You can over learn a formula, sing about a famous person, think positive thoughts about subjects, use sight, sound, and other methods to sharpen your memory. 17. Remember Something Else When you are stuck and can’t remember, think of something related to the information. For example if you cannot remember a name, think about what the person did, what period they lived or who they associated with. Write down what you do know and soon it will trigger facts that you are trying to recall. This technique really works! 18. Note When You Don’t Remember If you tried some memory techniques that do not seem to work, it’s all- right. Try an experiment with other techniques and use what is best for you and not what works for a classmate. Be a reporter, get the facts, find out what works and what doesn’t. Congratulate and reward yourself when you do remember. 19. Use It Before You Loose It Information stored in the long-term memory may become difficult to recall if you don’t use it. Simply read it, write it, speak about it and/or apply it. This is especially effective when you have to recall formulas or facts from a previous course. The 101 course information may be used in a 102 course. Therefore, retain your notes, the old text, and keep the information fresh with a review. 20. Affirmation of Your Good Memory Helps You to Remember When you are sharp and recall all the facts, accept compliments! When you do not recall the facts, think that you know it, you can remember, and the facts will come to you. You may have to use various techniques to help you remember but never give up! You truly “never forget.” Those facts will eventually “come to you.” Keep studying, try again and they will!1. Be Organise List facts in alphabetical or chronological order. Are you in an unhealthy relationship? Is it real love or just infatuation? What, you’re not sure? Here are the 11 telltale warning signs that you’re in an unhealthy relationship: 1. Your personal growth can not flourish in the relationship Whereas healthy relationships offer safe havens for personal growth, people who feel that their own growth and happiness needs to be sacrificed for the survival of the relationship often find themselves going the wrong way in the tunnel of love. 2. You feel as if the life is being sucked out of you Did you ever hear of emotional vampires? These unseemly characters thrive while sucking the energy and life out of others. If you feel like you are in a relationship that is draining your energy and leaves you feeling exhausted and spent, there is rarely a happy ending. 3. They don’t “get it “ that it’s not all your fault ! If you are involved with someone who tends to blame you for their anger and problems, and you spend too much energy either defending yourself or trying to be understood, stop expecting the light bulb to turn on. Rather, it only will serve to dim yours. After all, no one can make sense out of nonsense. 4. The conflict and arguments just keep popping up Relationships that are defined by conflict, fighting, blaming and a lack of forgiveness spell disaster. Remember that it takes two people to argue, and another person’s unreasonable behavior is never any excuse for yours. Arguments are like the Finger Trap carnival toy: the more each side is pulled, as in an argument, the more both sides get stuck in the trap. 5. One person has most of the power over the two of you Does your loved one have too much power over you, aside from the power of love? A sure sign of unhealthiness is when someone has more power over you than you have over yourself. Remember— no one has power over you unless you give it to them! 6. The negatives aren’t turning positive Unhealthy relationships are filled with negativity, and bring out the worst in people rather than the best. Put-downs, criticisms, and insults are all examples of emotional abuse and should never be tolerated. No one deserves to be treated like that, and never make excuses for anyone who treats you that way. 7. Being in need is confused with being in love Look out for possessiveness and jealousy, as those signs are more about someone being in need rather than in love. If someone’s love is contingent on “what you can do for me” realize that there might not be room enough in the relationship for the two of you. If there is no foundation of trust in your relationship, you can trust that it’s a warning sign of more trouble ahead! 8. When the team is losing, they get lost People who think they’re in love might really be more in infatuation. How do you know? One sure sign is when times get tough, the tough get going. It’s easy to be part of a winning team, but it’s time life does not go so smoothly that reveal the depth of a relationship. Infatuation is less about what a person can do for you and more about what you can do for the other person, especially through challenging times. 9. You feel worse about yourself, not better Watch out for a relationship that do not make you a better “you.” If the relationship makes you feel worse about yourself and less comfortable in your own skin, it might be time to shed yourself of the relationship! Mature relationships are based on acceptance, not judgement of how someone thinks someone else should be. 10. The focus is on changing the other person In unhealthy relationships, the focus is more about changing others rather than working on changing yourself. In a mutually respectful relationship, you won’t be trying to mold someone into your ideal person. When you do that, it becomes more about you than the other person, and becomes a recipe for chronic relationship unhappiness. In healthy relationships, people are respected for who they are, and are not anyone else’s “project.” 11. You lose yourself trying to find someone else Last but not least, make sure that you don’t lose yourself in trying to find somebody else. As much as you may think you need someone else, you need yourself much more. So if you find yourself in a relationship that stunts your growth and can only survive at expense of your own emotional survival, might be time to get out of the love boat before you find yourself sinking! Are you in an unhealthy relationship? 10. |

23 Little Ways You Know Someone Actually Loves you. 1. They act the same way around you as they do around their friends. 2. They would go out of their way to bring you food and medicine and walk your dog when you’re sick, even though your place is in the exact opposite direction than would otherwise be convenient to them — and they wouldn’t consider it going out of the way. 3. They’re not afraid to call you on your bullshit, but do it in a way that is kind and not judgmental. 4. They don’t freak out if you don’t text them in x amount of hours, because they feel solid and confident in what you have together. 5. But they also know that if they miss you, it’s on them to text — or better yet, call — and say hi… while not overstepping boundaries and bombarding you with messages (especially if you’re in a meeting). 6. They remember little random things like the fact that you’re in a meeting to begin with, even if you only mentioned it in passing and not so that they knew, but rather because you were venting about your stress level or something only marginally related. 7. Flowers for no reason other than “just because.” (Or a steak dinner if you’re a dude or allergic to pollen or something. But guys can receive flowers, too.) 8. They respect your right to personal space, especially when you need your alone time or to cool down from an argument you both had. 9. The apology they give you (if they were honestly in the wrong) is sincere, and not a half-assed attempt to get you off their back. (But also, when you actually love them, chances are good you won’t be relentlessly reminding them hardcore about how much they messed up, anyway.) 10. They ask before they steal a fry off your plate, but don’t hold it against you when you forget to ask and steal one off of theirs. 11. If some big opportunity arises in your life and they’re not entirely okay with it because it’d uproot both your lives, they’ll actively work to see if there’s some happy medium so that you both can get what you want. This is called a compromise. (And if something huge happens in their life, they consult with you before uprooting your world, too.) 12. They do the chore they know you hate so that you don’t have to do it (even if they hate it, too). 13. They respect when your opinion is unwaveringly different from theirs, and don’t press the issue as to why they’re right and you’re wrong. 14. They don’t judge you for that one verging-on-the-insane obsession they don’t share. (But like, there are limits. Don’t expect someone who loves you to understand why you’d be a stalker.) 15. They’re more concerned about how comfortable you are than they are about how you’re stealing the covers. 16. They know that sometimes, it’s the little moments of affection — all the hands held under the table, the inside jokes and glances that nobody else will notice — that matter most. 17. But they’re also not ashamed to kiss you in public and then post a selfie of it to Instagram every now and again. 18. They’ll share the last bite of something, whether they’re full or you just really want to try it at the last minute. 19. They’re more ready to do something for you than they will ask something from you. 20. For your birthday, they’ll never let it stand that you say you “don’t want anything” or that you don’t want them “to make a big deal” — they’ll do something special for you anyway. 21. They will continually listen to you about family and friend issues, but will push you to make the relationship right, because sometimes just agreeing with you is not in your best interests. (But on the rare occasion when you just really need to vent, they will let you but they will know it’s not their place to join in.) 22. They don’t burden you to take care of them when they’re sloppy or if they’re in a really bad situation, but also trust you enough to let you know what’s gnawing on them and to let you in if you show signs of wanting to carry that load with them. 23. They’re not afraid of saying they love you, the minute it overcomes them to say so. And whether it’s the first or thousandth (or ten thousandth) time it’s been said, no matter if it’s a shout or a whisper, it still sounds honest and sincere and like there’s no one else they’d ever rather say it to. |
