A magnificient performance,an efficient display,a sumptuous game and champagne football at its best at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium,Uyo,Akaw-Ibom,Nigeria.A game that will have fond memories in the soccer annals of history as it concerns Nigeria football. The African champions (The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon) came, saw but were surmounted, dominated, brutalised, conquered, bastardized, given the best of shaolin soccer,European soccer,African soccer and most especially the best of total football by their perennial rivals -The Super Eagles of Nigeria. In between this two teams they have eight African nations cup triumphs(Cameroon 5, Nigeria 3).Three of these triumphs have come against Nigeria (1984,1988 & 2000),while the other two have come against teams that has either knocked Nigeria out of the competition proper or in the qualifiers(Senegal in the semifinals in 2002 in Mali & Egypt during the qualifiers for Gabon 2017).Not a surprise that Cameroon has the edge over Nigeria in that department but when it comes to any other competition or friendly (world cup qualifiers or friendlies) its a different ball game.Cameroon has denied Nigeria a world cup qualification once which was enroute to Italia '90 but Nigeria has done it better and are nearly there in Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. This game showed why Nigeria always beat the African champions in any competitive game.It also showed that the team chemistry that was missing two months ago against South Africa was brought into full force. It was a telephatic performance from the team and it shows that there is a great future ahead and it won't be long before this generation will become extremely strong than the first two generations or should I say the first five generations(Probably.......laughs).Nigeria's four nil massacre of the Cameroonians meant that two historical breakthroughs took place(unless there are more than two though). The first was that it was the first time that Cameroon had conceded four goals against Nigeria in any competitive game without giving any reply to them. The last game they played though was a friendly match in which Cameroon failed to give any reply to Nigeria's three goals(extremely pathetic). The second is that it has extended Nigeria's unbeaten run of this series to thirty-three matches(The last time Nigeria lost a world cup qualifier was in Luanda in 2004 when Angola defeated Nigeria by a lone goal). But it is not yet Uhuru in this year's series because Nigeria must finish the job in Yaoundé on Monday. This will be a psychological advantage considering what happened in Uyo but games in Yaoundé are always extremely difficult affairs especially with the fans roaring the team high even when they are down but inspite of this Nigeria has always held their own on their arena as well as Nigeria has beaten Cameroon in Yaoundé or any of their grounds at least twice. So my verdict is simple-a Nigeria win by the odd goal. |
A magnificent performance from the super eagles in this tie.The champagne football is back and it was historical because its the first time that Cameroon had conceded four goals against Nigeria at any senior competitive match(home or away). It is also historical because Nigeria has now gone 33 games unbeaten in African world cup qualification series. The last time Nigeria lost in this series was in the year 2004 against Angola in Luanda. |

Can lightening strike twice for the catalan Giants? |
What future be holds the club football in Nigeria? Not even a single respect to ex-footballers. It is appaling. |
If it takes Tboss one week to spend the #25,000,000, how many minutes will it take her to spend #500,000? |
I wonder why Nigerians cannot change from this act of unnecessary creativity |
Based on the mathematical concepts, solve the problem and prove it. If it will take Tboss a week to spend the #25,000,000,how many minutes will it take her to spend #500,000? |
Logistically looking at it, efe stands a chance in this one |
timmykaydude:Which of them please? |
uboma:It's not all news that you will believe you know. And we have to be careful in judging someone too because this thing has to be investigated. |
Good day to you all great critical thinkers and creative minders. How have we all been? It's been a while though I was on a mathematical journey to an eigenspace where i had to be accommodated by the metric that will be on me soonest. But I am back now. I want us to look deeply at the nature of numbers and its role in Mathematics as a whole because it plays an important role in determining the good and the bad of mathematics. One part of it is in the use of numbers with signs in the popular acronym called BODMAS. It's a pity that when we are taught these things we fail to go back and study them in order to be sure if we are right or wrong. Now two years ago I made a discovery on this acronym called BODMAS and discovered that you can't actually make use of a symbol more than once. The O is the acronym as our teachers will tell us was taken to be Of which is meant to be the sign of multiplication which is also for M. Now I saw that O actually stands for Order which implies powers and roots. The only problem is to gradually put this into correction because we are talking about giving our incoming generations the right message to this subject I call the Queen of all subjects and King of sciences. So what do we think? |
A good result by all standards for both teams but real Madrid would have gotten more. |
You cannot throw a stone into a breakable house when yours is breakable. |
At this point I am so perplexed and confused in this matter. If truly he did this then I am disappointed but at the same time could this be a forgery? |
strictlynaija:The first thing you need to do is to obtain the trigonometric identity for sec X. Now sec X=sec X *1=sec x((sec x+tan x) /(sec x +tan x)). At this point you will integrate the simplicities of sec X using the u-substitution which will give you a final result as ln(secx +tanx) +c. |
Two strikers from different worlds. Mercy was at the twilight of her career when Perpetual started hers. Fast track to 1999 Mercy was in her second world cup when perpetual was one of the youngest players in that tournament. Perpetual was watching with joy as Mercy tormented defenses from the US, Denmark and North Korea. Mercy had already shoned like a million stars on African soil when Nigeria won their third African crown. Perpetual was a teenager by then and was watching with aplomb as her counterpart was in blistering form. That world cup in 1999 defined the era where Africa will get it right against the elite teams like the US, China and Co. Let's not forget that Nigeria played against a Sun Wen-inspired China team and delivered what many believe to be a rude shock even though it was a friendly game ahead of the world cup in 1999. Now understand that this two players cannot be compared for me. Their positions tell it all. Mercy was a darling striker who knows how to position herself when due. She can as she likes and destroy defences as she likes. She was and is still recognised as Africa's top striker in the female game and one of the goal poachers in the international scenes. She is also Nigeria 's all-time leading goalscorer in the national team although Perpetual has now overtaken her as at now. Mercy started her soccer trade from the famous Jegede Babes in the early 1990s.She has also been a member of the Fifa committee on women soccer as well. Such admiration needs a round of Applause. Perpetual on her own part was an attacking midfielder who could support the attack and could also play as a central attacker as well. She broke enormous records that were set initially by Mercy Akide in the African women championship and still remains the leading all-time scorer in the competition. Both of them have gone to the world cup and Olympics as well. Forget about the number of appearances in those competitions because it does not matter. Both have also won the individual award in Africa as well. That is the African women footballer of the year. Once again forget about the number of times they did because it does not matter. I can go on and on but since you are asking for who is better then I will say that the aspects of their game must be put into consideration. These are the impact felt, contributions to their team, the threat they pose to defenders, heading, launching of counter-attacks, inspiring your team when it matters the most as part of all other leadership qualities, dribbling, passing, shooting and set pieces except if I missed any other. Honestly both have it all except for one that Perpetual failed which was in the leadership qualities. Fast track to 1999, 2000, 2003,2004,2007 competitions. You will see why I said so. I rest my case here. |
This was the first time that the Super falcons failed to play with their heads low. They failed to understand that it is a team game and not about individuals. They were taking it from an individualistic approach which almost cost them the loss. Ghana were the better of the two sides in the second half unlike the first half which was a balanced affair. A lot of lessons to be learnt surely from this game because there lies huge challenges ahead. Not surprised that Ghana gave Nigeria a match today as they showed why they are the real rivals and not Cameroon or Southafrica. Kenya will still provide a good opposition for the African Champions as well going by what they performed in the previous game against Ghana. Their first half display was a pointer that the Cecafa championship was no fluke. Let's not forget that the match between Nigeria and Ghana was a champions affair as well. The African Champions (Nigeria) and the all-africa games soccer champions. Don't be surprised if we see a Champions final. Till then. |
Talented individuals |
joseph1013:Sorry about I twisted it. I was meant to say that Rashidi Yekini is a better scorer than Usiyen. Although Usiyen played less games compared to Yekini's. |
A question to all. If you know Nigerian soccer history then answer this. When was the last time the Nigerian National teams (junior and senior) female inclusive won their games in the weekend and Sundays together at any international game or competition? |

forgiveness:Please I have a clarification to make concerning Thompson Usiyen, he actually scored 14 goals in 24 appearances meaning he has a goal ratio of 0.54.Rashidi Yekini 's goal ratio stands at 0.64.This means that Usiyen has a better goal scoring average than Yekini. I know people will bring arguments on this but when we are talking about the best striker in Nigeria the goal ratio is a huge criteria for this but we should also not forget the individual 's contributions to the team as well. Let our arguments be healthy from now onwards. |
Good day to you all. It's been quite a while. I have been on a huge research concerning the order of operations in Mathematics but I am back and better now. How have you guys been faring? |
I am suggesting that the rule of logarithmic equations can be applied. |
The dwindling fortunes of Nigerian football has began |

Never forget your dialect wherever you go. |
What is the way forward for sports funding in Nigeria? |
There is room for improvement but work must continue. |
It has more disadvantages than advantages. It creates enmity, jealousy and quarrel. It could come to a point where they could need your help and you look at your needs first. |
This is part of the reason why violence and hooliganism is difficult to control in this part of the world.Sports is meant to be the opium of the people and not violent.Sports invokes passion and not quarrel.Sports brings people together for the good and not for the bad.The FIFA always say for the good of the games. This implies that we should accept the joy of victory and pain of defeat.Applaud when you lose for you will be applauded when you win. That is the beauty of the game.Let's stop this sport betting for it will cause death among our loved ones.If you are supporting a team do it but do not be too fanatical. |
