If you have the means and opportunity to lobby, please do. NERC or any place. Do what you have to do, legally and in good conscience. |
Notes: Test site doesn't work so well on Apple Mac OS Navigating by clicking "next section" did not work in my own case. I had to manually select the sections from the top and do the same for each question thereby wasting more time. Which means I had to be sure my answer was entered. Camera light goes off once you start test, but if you check browser address window, it shows "site is using camera" which may imply the camera was still on through the test. As to the exam itself! Testmi changed the questions (understandably). It's not logical to expect anyone to answer 100 questions in 60mins. Time was certainly an issue. That is an average of 36 seconds per question! I also think they intentionally hid the scores from us. So we don't feel entitled to any next assessment or interviews. All the best. |
Goodluck batch B! Almost time! |

Well said and accurate! Usually lose a level when you transfer especially across Ministry / Agency Secondment is easier, but a request may have to come from receiving ministry. harmony940: |
May or may not have numbers too... nikola: |
Haha exactly. But "general questions" almost gives away what to expect. nikola: |

lol. |
Haha.. do you get! It's so ridiculous! Idrismusty97: |
Lol all these requests for past questions. The person that has it can actually just put in on Google Drive and share a link. How many mails can you send? |
You should not display such sensitive things openly, without covering your personal details. Desdee101: |
Quite poor. 45-50k Don't bother. geoimam22: |
I feel you honestly. All the talk here about APL coming out, hopefully people say things that are facts and not just cruise. Just follow him small small, eventually it would work out. We only hope for the best. Meanwhile NERC through TESTMI (application website) is doing the more you look, the less you see. One minute exam cards are out, next thing it has disappeared. On NCC I would say, follow up through your plug till you get your APL in your hand. EVC know wetin him dey do. Pressure is mounting on him from all that is going on. May August not pass us by without APL! Mohit007: |
I don't think people should meet him saying he is giving APL (something that is supposed to be secret). I also do not think people should post their letters here, especially for a job that was not advertised. If you have info about any job, share to help people and If you can help, help them too. If everyone keeps calling a DG for appointment letter, it becomes a problem and could even hinder chances of people who were already being helped. People should generally approach these things with tact. Of course he won't tell anyone he is giving APL. Except the people that are already in the know. I am certain if he gave letters, the SGF is aware and has possibly sent his candidates. All that vexing is because people are now bugging him for something that should be coded. Him sef dey use tact dey deny. I also do not think collecting numbers of DGs and heads of agencies is a smart way to go about a job search. Unless you are forwarding it to someone who can help. Do not call an agency head you don't know personally, you could ruin your chances. It is easier to even call your state senator and lobby him or your FCC commissioner. These people do not enjoy being bugged for jobs. I understand, we are desperate, but again I would say, use tact to go about these things. Play your cards the right way. Lastly (at least for this post): Nairaland is mostly an anonymous platform, information here is mostly unverified, try to get as much confirmation before approaching your connect, because if they use a faulty information to try and help you, they would be embarrassed. Try dey verify info. Some people here sure post legit info. Mohit007: |
Lagos too meetgaya: |
I beg una, ya'll shouldn't come and be speculating here. Just take process as it happens. Thank you. |
Portal to apply.. Yes. For about 57 positions, mostly EH (Experienced Hire). Site is the testmi.ng job site, same one NCDMB used for job tests. The expectation is that they would call for tests soon as it has been about 3 weeks+ since applications closed. Obviously a lot of lobbying is going on and 57 isn't a large number. Stay hopeful! After test should be interview, all things being equal. Julius223pounds: |
NERC has not done any tests! |
Pay/salary in the Ministry is quite poor. Not your ideal place if you are a young person. Only advantage is, it keeps your CV up to date so you don't have a career gap. Pros of a ministry job - you have a job - Helps with CV for jobs in future - Health Insurance - Time to do other things (Private practice), further your studies - You could do a transfer of service to an agency if you have the connect - community -Job security Cons - Very poor pay (Entry level 8 for an engineer was less than 50k after deductions in 2015) - Level 9 is about 70k+ now - Redundant nature of work. (Unless you're in a great department, you would most likely have no schedule and be idle) - No housing provided (from experience) -Housing loan is a joke (Small sum) - No allowances (except the paltry sum during Sallah, Easter and Christmas : dependent on Ministry) - Not the best for a young person as you may not get any proper trainings to advance your career. -Arrears are usually owed for years -Corruption even from fellow officers in the service for almost anything you need to get done -tribalism, nepotism Notes: If you can, get a job in an agency. If you can't, get a ministry job, but never leave any personal business or skill you have for the Ministry job. The Ministry job isn't worth the stress, use it as a stepping stone to another place, develop self, up-skill and give yourself a timeline to leave the Ministry. The danger of a ministry job is comfort: you would just say "After all I don't have to do anything" Free Money!. Most importantly: Pension in the Ministry is useless. Considering how poor your salary is, your pension contribution is a reflection of that. |
Yes it is. M.Sc., Bachelors. NOUN degree is very much recognized. Klymaxbankz: |
Okay great. Let me apply pressure. Thanks Brightw278: |
What's up guys...What's the word on NCC APL? |
And so it begins as one phase ends! |

Faced the same thing! Just go to your inbox and search “NERC” I don’t know why it’s hidden. But you’d see it when you search. |
POSTING AGAIN FOR THOSE ASKING! It's a pretty basic application. Uploads include: Passport Photograph Degree Certificate NYSC Certificate or exemption Valid ID card Certifications (if any) and where required. NIN would be required to start application. Best to fill form late night due to traffic on the site. You can save and continue if you face challenges. Most roles if not all are experienced hire roles so your years of experience would matter. Next phase would most likely be shortlisting and testing on same platform. Timeline is standard for govt. agencies. If you are interested, apply! If you are worried that Nigeria would happen and there's no need to apply, just leave it! The application site is https://testmi.ng/ |

Best to do it very late at night when traffic is less on the site. Had same issues with errors (even with uploads), but it went through easily at midnight. code66: |
NERC page is down, due to traffic perhaps. But the application page is available (even though with errors). https://testmi.ng/login |
