Then, absolutely.
Might be our eureka moment.
Have you seen the goal he conceded in the friendly against Egypt 2 weeks ago?

I personally don't think we have a reliable goalkeeper in this tournament.
As a nation, we need to pray that Harcourt develops massively because he's the closest I've seen in terms of confidence and size though he needs to massively upgrade his ability

Wow @naptu2, great job on this thread!

I started following the Eagles during qualification for Senegal 92 and you have done justice to Yekini's great impact.
I will like to add that Westerhof used the ANC qualification games to try out home based players but he would always include Yekini from Setubal because as long as you have Yeking in the team, Victoria Ascerta!
I remember those games against Burkina Faso, Benin, etc very well. Those were games Westerhof used to try out players like Inienger, Monye, and even Finidi before he went to Ajax.

You missed the 94 World Cup qualifying games with Congo. Same group with South Africa in the first group games. We beat Congo away via a Keshi free kick and then with an almost all home based team, beat them in Enugu 2-0 but not before the crowd started singing "All we are saying, no more home based". Wow. Those were the games.

I remember I used to go watch the SE training at the National Stadium in Lagos. Oliseh is right, you could have almost 30k fans there just to watch them train. Amazing!

Thank you for the memories Yekini.

Thank you for this thread @naptu2

You writing style is unique.
Why don't you start by doing a 'diary of a job seeker' here on Nairaland then move to a blog as soon as you've gathered a following. Who knows what could come from that?

Dimeji Lawal is a former Super Eagles and Shooting Stars player who is now the acting General Manager of the club. He was one of the players that played at Saudi '89 and was signed by Real Madrid after the tournament.
100% I remember watching this game on TV with my Grandfather. Westerhof had not wanted to invite Dimeji to the S.E back then but was forced to by popular demand and Dimeji's current form. So it was amazing that he scored when he came in

Fair enough. I appreciate the fact that you were reasonable enough to care about our opinions as forum members.

The work hours is not the bone of contention, rather it's the job responsibilities. It's not much different from a full time position. Regardless, good luck with your search.
Thanks for the feedback.
Reason I mentioned the number of hours is we do not expect the person to do all the above in one week of work. As mentioned, this is an initial 3-months project and the tasks above are what we expect to be delivered over the period of time. We will work with the selected candidate to determine weekly deliverables based on the number of working hours agreed.

I hope this helps?

FamilyRe: Wearing Buba / Agbada As An American Married To A Nigerian by proudly9ja(m): 9:45am On Aug 13, 2020
Mancala:
Ekaso y'all? That's straight up gangsta dude grin. JK, kudos on making an effort to speak the lingo.
If your intent is to please/ make your wife happy, only you can answer the question. But I can give you some practical tips to help you figure this out. First, the full native wear comprising of the buba (shirt), sokoto (trousers) and agbada (flowing wide sleeved robe) is equivalent in formality to wearing a three piece suit (if you're old school) or just a regular 2 piece suit. But there's a further twist to it. The type of material the native wear is made of also determines the degree of formality. In general (old school thinking), the "Ankara" material would be at the lower end of the formalilty spectrum whilst "aso oke" would be at the higher end of it. But these days, there are real fancy Ankara materials that could pass for formal.

My questions for you are thus: How did your wife react to your wearing a suit to pick her up at the airport and going directly to a fancy restaurant? Do you think she may have felt underdressed or wanted to change out of her travel clothes to match you? Did she enjoy the experience? If she did, then go for it with the Nigerian clothes. But this time, bring her a change of clothes, perhaps bring her matching Nigerian outfit so y'all are both dressed up. You may also up the ante and research a good Nigerian restaurant in your neck of the woods. Call ahead and have them prepare her favorite Nigerian dishes. I am yet to meet a Nigerian in the diaspora who does not miss Nigerian food! Lastly, if you've had any experience wearing an agbada, you know that it takes a certain level of Pizzaz to pull it off effectively. It's really not suited for the tasks of fetching luggage and rolling or carrying any distance through the airport, especially if its of the "aso oke" variety. Feel free to leave the agbada in the car and wear only the buba and sokoto if that makes it easier to go get her. Good luck and let us know how it went. We're rooting for ya cheesy

One last thing. Some folks have strong sentimental feelings about their wedding outfits and may not want them worn anyhow. Figure this out first that your wife will not go nuts if you wore your wedding attire out to pick her up from the airport. Maybe go with the non wedding attire?
This post here says it all. Just to add one more note of advice: I will not recommend eating Nigerian food (especially if it's 'swallow') when you have your agbada on. You can take it off as mentioned by Mancala when it's time to eat. Failure to heed to this advice will cost you some money with your dry cleaners cheesy

All the best!

PS: Will you not be ruining the surprise if your wife gets to see this post? (I am assuming the picture above is yours?) Given the popularity of Nairaland, chances are that she or someone who knows her will be here reading the post.
FamilyRe: How Can I Win My Wife's Heart Back? by proudly9ja(m): 3:58pm On May 01, 2020
If the story is true, it's a really sad one. Women dey try abeg.

OP, I will try to be as straighforward as possible.
It is a good thing that you now realise that you have maltreated your wife and your family/children. My advice will be:

1. Do a deep search of your heart. Check if you are truly sorry or you are in this state because of what your side chick did to you. This is very important because if you are not truly sorry, you may repeat the mistake.

2. If after self-reflection, you realise you are truly sorry, go to God and beg for forgiveness. Truly beg for forgiveness from the depth of you heart and ask God to touch the heart of your wife.

3. Then, please call your wife and be plain to her as you have been plain to us in your post. If need be, prostrate before her and beg her. Prostrating does not remove your role as a man but it will humble you. Tell her you're sorry and that you will not repeat the error again. She needs to truly forgive you before you before you move to step 4.

4. Together with your wife, call your children and ask for their forgiveness too for neglecting them. They also need to forgive you.

5. Ensure you never make the same mistake again. Treat your family better than before. In fact, compensate for past errors. Buy gifts, appreciate them.

Why would scientists abandon their work though? What stops you from doing both?
I know many expert microbiologists who are also Christians who spend hours in the lab and also spend time praying. A car mechanic does not depend 100% on his/her abilities all the time. In some cases, (s)he refers to the manufacturer or the manufacturer's manual.

"She said she came to the station because she was frustrated from calling the NCDC and isolation centre without success."

They provided numbers to call and they were called. None of them responded. What a shame!
What if she had infected a lot of people within that area?
This is the reason people should stop making prank calls to NCDC number or calls to "test if the number is working". You clog up the network and prevent genuine callers from getting through.
FamilyRe: Car Issue: Am I Being Fair To My Wife? by proudly9ja(m): 5:09pm On Feb 03, 2020
Bro,

I will be honest with you. Even if you end up buying only one car now, please give it to your wife. I live outside Nigeria where the roads are good and the transport network is also good i.e. you have access to taxis, efficient bus routes, train, etc. Despite this, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT for a woman (or man) to move around with a child(ren)! Pushing prams is HARDWORK. Now compare this to Nigeria where you will compete with Okada, buses, etc and pedestrian pavements are almost non-existent.

Please I beg you, either buy the two cars and let her have one (and if possible, hire driver for her) or buy one and give her that one.

My piece of advice
EducationRe: How Many Times Did You Write WAEC Or JAMB Before Passing? by proudly9ja(m): 8:14pm On Jan 29, 2020
Maybe this will encourage someone.
I had to sit for JAMB 4 times. In one case, the result was seized. It was so painful as that was one JAMB I studied real hard for. In fact, I was so prepared, I boasted to my friends that I would not only pass but also score the highest in Nigeria (or at least one of the highest). I studied really hard. In the exam hall, two girls by my side had "expo" but I rejected it. I was very sure of myself.
When the result was seized, I was devastated. I refused to sit for JAMB again.

Anyways, thank God for support system of friends and family. Today I have a PhD from one of world's best universities.

So if things are not working well academically at the moment, just stay focused and keep moving.

As for UK, not sure about the opportunities around there for someone who is planning to settle down there while studying too.. Sweden is good and i know people who are there but i don't know my way around it at all..

As for Canada and Australia , do you have any idea about the visa processing? I think i still have some jdea about Australia. I will send you a PM now. If you wouldn't mind lets discuss better on this outside here. I wouldn't want to derail your thread...

Oh thanks for this. I would be glad. I am actually thinking of a country to migrate to easily to hustle and settle down too.... I have some travel records in my former passport. US amd South Africa specifically... I was in US for some months on a Student Visa and SA for some months too on a Visitors Visa now I'm thinking perhaps i should try US Visitors Visa now and see how it goes since i have history with them already. But on the other hand, I'm thinking of trying any good European country or New Zealand.
As with most visas, mainly depends on your current economic situation and plans.
Canada, New Zealand and Australia readily come to mind based on ease of Entry. If you're academic inclined, you can look into postgraduate studies in Germany, UK or Sweden

I won't recommend overstaying on a visa.

No... You are wrong about Salzburg. They will be patient with him and he will be allowed to blend in. He is not walking into their first team as soon as he is 18 naa... No way. He will be eased in and start from Salzburg's feeder team. If you know about the Red Bull Sports Group and their ways with young talents, you will know that Tijani is in good hands.
Red Bull also owns and runs RB Leipzig in Germany. Big sister club to RB Salzburg in Austria.

Infact, talking about pressure, it is more in England than at Salzburg, in Holland or in Belgium.
Time will tell.
In England, they would place him in the youth teams first which will allow him to develop technical skills, then ease him slowly in cup games
