Reference:Have you seen the goal he conceded in the friendly against Egypt 2 weeks ago? I personally don't think we have a reliable goalkeeper in this tournament. As a nation, we need to pray that Harcourt develops massively because he's the closest I've seen in terms of confidence and size though he needs to massively upgrade his ability |
Wow @naptu2, great job on this thread! I started following the Eagles during qualification for Senegal 92 and you have done justice to Yekini's great impact. I will like to add that Westerhof used the ANC qualification games to try out home based players but he would always include Yekini from Setubal because as long as you have Yeking in the team, Victoria Ascerta! I remember those games against Burkina Faso, Benin, etc very well. Those were games Westerhof used to try out players like Inienger, Monye, and even Finidi before he went to Ajax. You missed the 94 World Cup qualifying games with Congo. Same group with South Africa in the first group games. We beat Congo away via a Keshi free kick and then with an almost all home based team, beat them in Enugu 2-0 but not before the crowd started singing "All we are saying, no more home based". Wow. Those were the games. I remember I used to go watch the SE training at the National Stadium in Lagos. Oliseh is right, you could have almost 30k fans there just to watch them train. Amazing! Thank you for the memories Yekini. Thank you for this thread @naptu2 |
You writing style is unique. Why don't you start by doing a 'diary of a job seeker' here on Nairaland then move to a blog as soon as you've gathered a following. Who knows what could come from that? |
Omniman:Na West Street for Sheffield be this ![]() |
naptu2:100% I remember watching this game on TV with my Grandfather. Westerhof had not wanted to invite Dimeji to the S.E back then but was forced to by popular demand and Dimeji's current form. So it was amazing that he scored when he came in |

Afriqan:Thanks for the feedback. Reason I mentioned the number of hours is we do not expect the person to do all the above in one week of work. As mentioned, this is an initial 3-months project and the tasks above are what we expect to be delivered over the period of time. We will work with the selected candidate to determine weekly deliverables based on the number of working hours agreed. I hope this helps? |
Afriqan:This is a part time role. The person is expected to work only about 15 hours weekly and remotely too. |

Mancala:This post here says it all. Just to add one more note of advice: I will not recommend eating Nigerian food (especially if it's 'swallow') when you have your agbada on. You can take it off as mentioned by Mancala when it's time to eat. Failure to heed to this advice will cost you some money with your dry cleaners ![]() All the best! PS: Will you not be ruining the surprise if your wife gets to see this post? (I am assuming the picture above is yours?) Given the popularity of Nairaland, chances are that she or someone who knows her will be here reading the post. |
If the story is true, it's a really sad one. Women dey try abeg. OP, I will try to be as straighforward as possible. It is a good thing that you now realise that you have maltreated your wife and your family/children. My advice will be: 1. Do a deep search of your heart. Check if you are truly sorry or you are in this state because of what your side chick did to you. This is very important because if you are not truly sorry, you may repeat the mistake. 2. If after self-reflection, you realise you are truly sorry, go to God and beg for forgiveness. Truly beg for forgiveness from the depth of you heart and ask God to touch the heart of your wife. 3. Then, please call your wife and be plain to her as you have been plain to us in your post. If need be, prostrate before her and beg her. Prostrating does not remove your role as a man but it will humble you. Tell her you're sorry and that you will not repeat the error again. She needs to truly forgive you before you before you move to step 4. 4. Together with your wife, call your children and ask for their forgiveness too for neglecting them. They also need to forgive you. 5. Ensure you never make the same mistake again. Treat your family better than before. In fact, compensate for past errors. Buy gifts, appreciate them. |
realokopi:Why would scientists abandon their work though? What stops you from doing both? I know many expert microbiologists who are also Christians who spend hours in the lab and also spend time praying. A car mechanic does not depend 100% on his/her abilities all the time. In some cases, (s)he refers to the manufacturer or the manufacturer's manual. Isaac Newton spent more of his time researching into spirituality. Didn't stop him from coming up with some of the most important equations that describe our universe! |
meum:This is the reason people should stop making prank calls to NCDC number or calls to "test if the number is working". You clog up the network and prevent genuine callers from getting through. |
Bro, I will be honest with you. Even if you end up buying only one car now, please give it to your wife. I live outside Nigeria where the roads are good and the transport network is also good i.e. you have access to taxis, efficient bus routes, train, etc. Despite this, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT for a woman (or man) to move around with a child(ren)! Pushing prams is HARDWORK. Now compare this to Nigeria where you will compete with Okada, buses, etc and pedestrian pavements are almost non-existent. Please I beg you, either buy the two cars and let her have one (and if possible, hire driver for her) or buy one and give her that one. My piece of advice |
Maybe this will encourage someone. I had to sit for JAMB 4 times. In one case, the result was seized. It was so painful as that was one JAMB I studied real hard for. In fact, I was so prepared, I boasted to my friends that I would not only pass but also score the highest in Nigeria (or at least one of the highest). I studied really hard. In the exam hall, two girls by my side had "expo" but I rejected it. I was very sure of myself. When the result was seized, I was devastated. I refused to sit for JAMB again. Anyways, thank God for support system of friends and family. Today I have a PhD from one of world's best universities. So if things are not working well academically at the moment, just stay focused and keep moving. A righteous (wo)man may fall 7 times, but (s)he'll rise 7 times too. |
MISTAICEY02288:No wahala....I may be slow in my response. Abeg no vex. I will definitely reply |
MISTAICEY02288:As with most visas, mainly depends on your current economic situation and plans. Canada, New Zealand and Australia readily come to mind based on ease of Entry. If you're academic inclined, you can look into postgraduate studies in Germany, UK or Sweden I won't recommend overstaying on a visa. |

I totally forgot I created this thread. Hopefully, you guys still find it useful. I arrived St Pancras and you can feel the Christmas spirit Pic 1: Welcome to St Pancras Pic 2: underground rail barriers locked ready to prevent those without tickets from exiting. I've seen a few people jump over barriers though. Not a good thing. Pic 3: Eiffel Tower structure decorated with Christmas lights
