Jesus Said Beware!

It has been said by many that in the story of the widow who put her last two mites in the Temple Treasury, she was being commended by Jesus after she did so.

I am not so sure this was the case. Notice:

Mark 12:38-44 And he said unto them in his doctrine, BEWARE OF THE SCRIBES, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces, And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts: WHICH DEVOUR WIDOWS HOUSES, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation. And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

If one reads the text in context, (beginning at verse 39) one will see Jesus was warning of religious leaders who, “rob widow’s houses”. Then, He sits against a wall across from the Treasury. Lo and behold, a widow comes and drops all her living into the Treasury.

What I see in that text is Jesus pointing out a destitute woman has just been robbed, not that He was commending her. Her money could have purchased some needed things that she lacked, but she put it in the Treasury? Why?

The Scribes, the LawMakers, had demanded her needed money.

Perhaps this is why we see in the New Testament, (post-crucifixion) a change in teaching on money.

Prior to the cross, there were requirements from God for certain monetary values to be given to the Temple. There were additional monetary demands imposed on the children of Israel by the religious leaders of the Temple.

In the New Covenant, we find no set required amount imposed upon the faithful in Christ. Instead, we see exhortation to give as we see need and as we are able. No unnecessary burdens laid upon the people of God.

Many churches today imitate the unjust Scribes of Mark 12. They impose monetary burdens and financial distress upon their congregations through a man-made monetary tithe requirement that is totally foreign to either Old Testament or New Testament texts, and in many churches, multiple offerings in a single service. These religious leaders are preventing many in their congregations from properly feeding themselves and their families, they are obstructing the congregant’s ability to purchase needed medical attention, etc..

Jesus’ words of warning should be heeded by all. “Beware of those who would rob widows houses!”

And yet, many are deceived by their religious leaders demands and threats.

Truly disheartening.

Yes, the meeting place does have its bills, i.e.; electric, water & sanitation, telephone, etc.. However, if getting those bills paid means members may have to suffer lack for their own needs, then the meeting place should close its doors. The Apostle Paul told the saints at Corinth:

2 Corinthians 8:13 For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:

Many Pastors and spiritual leaders today demonstrate little or no sympathy for their members. They impose monetary offering demands on them that God never authorized.

May they repent of their wickedness before their day of judgment.

One of the main reasons you should never be too close to your religious leaders especially if you're a woman.

Women are known to be very gullible so these religious heads prey on them.

One of the major reasons you won't catch me near a religious woman. they're weak, shallow and unstable.

Op,sorry about your situation.A lot of women ask themselves what they did wrong when things like this happen.You didn't do anything wrong.A MAN THAT WILL CHEAT WILL CHEAT.

I will like to say that you shouldn't monitor your husband but you should close-mark him.It is easy for a man to stray if he feels he is not closely watched.Women who say they don't touch their husband's phone,it is to your disadvantage.My wife uses my phone to browse and sometimes flip through pictures.It is good for me cause it helps me to caution myself.I be human being too.

Please consider your children and your family.Your life is not worth taking because of a cheating husband.
Take your time to heal and ask yourself if you can forgive your hubby.Let him do a health screening so you are sure he has a clean bill of health.

i quite understand your point especially if you are an APC supporter but you see this "siege mentallity and hate filled idiocy" is most observable in the north where APC is dominant. staying in kano for hw long i have has shown me that even if you remove ur head and drop it in the name of hard work; the moment sentiments for one reason or the other are raised you become a gonner -overnight. honestly tell me that the north even considered Jonathan to the extent of even 15%. even after all the infrastructure
he provided there. i have traversed the north enough to confirm to you that no administration has ever done as much for the north as his. but because there had to be alignments for sentiment sake. mind you i am a northerner and was also in the north during the elections. the slogan was "remove the kafir", it did make me wonder though.

Aside the excessive audacity which breeds arrogance and pride with Igbos, This is the part i like about Igbos...Everything is business...let truth be told. Igbos are way ahead in business in Nigeria.

I entered Ladipo market one day and couldnt find one shop owned by a Yoruba man in the two hours i spent there. I think business is genetic for them. can you remember the ''my oga at the top stuff'' while some of us typed on the internet, Aba boys were thinking business. Mbaka spoke against GEJ, few days after, (Mbaka but why T. shirt was all over the market). They seem not interested in white collar jobs like every other tribe. If we have more entrepreneurs, the faster we come out of the corruption in public and civil service.

When i finished NYSC, i was retained in the bank with one Emeka boy..I remember during the interview, one of the panelists said, Emeka, you are supposed to be in Aba or Alaba, what are you doing here? the Igbo jokingly said, its capital am looking for..six years after, the Igbo boy resigned, we never knew he was combining banking with real estate business..on saturdays he was a house searching agent. he told me he sold two houses in Ikoyi and resigned...

Till i left the bank, his salary account was in millions...doing so well in business, the latest he told me last year was that, one of the panelists in that our interview is now his account officer...I just love the business part of them and maybe the way they adore their wives and children. They take family very seriously. Emeka is so wealthy and lavishes his wealth on his wife and 3 boys. Needless to say he inspired me into business and i am doing well too, but not anywhere near Emeka.

Throw them into the Lagoon and see the potentials of that water developed by them.
