Good morning team,

I haven’t posted in a while. I submitted with upfront Medicals, but yesterday I wasted to do Medicals again.

Please why could this be happening? The hospital claims the fault is not from them and i’d have to pay again.

Thanks for helping.
They invited you for another medicals?

Hello Seniors,

I just checked my CIC account again today, and saw that "They're reviewing the results of my medical exam"

Please note, I didn't do any upfront medical. I only uploaded medical request form.

Basically, eligibility, medical and background check now under review.

Is this normal?

Find attached picture to understand me better.

Thanks in anticipation.
When did you apply?

You will be called for medicals soon! The good news is on its way. Sometimes medical request comes this way. Relax!
"Sometimes"... So CIC has no Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)...

Sorry about the unfortunate turn of events.

I noticed in passing that you never miss the opportunity to emphasize you were admitted to a top ranked University (after mentioning the name of institution), until now. Perhaps giving people admitted to universities of lower ranking reason to loose sleep and indeed, despair. You will be a good ambassador of the institution eventually, Godwilling.

I trust you will address the issues mentioned and re-apply. Wishing you success next time.
Such sarcasm...

I applied April 13th yet nothing yet apart from Biometrics showing "Completed". I think these VOs give more priority to paper route than online application which implies they encourage Nigerians to apply via paper route in this technological age.
Also, it depends on the VO handling one's case. Eventhough mine takes 6 months as long as the final decision reads 'APPROVED'.
Surprisingly inefficient system

I am happy for you and a big congratulations to you brother.

I did upfront medical and submitted my application online on April 13. No updates yet aside from Biometrics showing "Completed".
I am worried about the strange circumstance of my case. I also applied to school in Alberta province. I decree and tap from your good report this day in Jesus name... Amen

Please I need your candid opinion on this, can someone who read say Banking and Finance land here and switch to do say> law, justice or political sc. course in a college is this acceptable by CIC and not seen as a total career deviation with consequences if any? Your sincere view is required.
Thanks

@ratawu mentioned 45 seconds (not minutes). I guess Eligibility involves, background checks, health checks, etc which may not be directly done by the VO at the first stage.

It may be after an applicant has passed eligibility up to a certain level that VO may even finally assess the application. If background check reveals that an applicant is not eligible as a result of criminal inadmissibility, for instance, the VO needs not spend time on the application (that's if it gets to a VO!), however, if an applicant has passed up to a certain level, then the VO may now finally review to approve or deny based on other factors. Just guessing!
Good you're humble enough to admit you're just guessing. A lil bit of a wild guess though. Seems like eligibility review and background checks are two df things, if the information at the candidate portal is anything to go by.

And if they do initial eligibility review and final one, why do they complete some in 24hrs? U no go leave those people?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Prudento:
Ratawu:
Many applications for a temporary visa (TRV) to Canada are rejected because the applicants don’t have bonds strong enough to make them return to the home country.

The form letter of refusal from Canada also advises against re-applying unless the applicant has some new evidence. Since most applicants have done the best job they can with the first application, and have no new evidence to offer, so they give up.

An acquaintance who works wit VOs in a Canadian embassy has a different take on this: apparently it CAN be useful to immediately re-apply, with the same application and same evidence. Here`s why.

The average VO has something like 45 seconds
to assess each application for a TRV. Why so many applications? Partly because travel agencies will submit multiple applications for a single client to many countries, hoping for at least one approval out of the many refusals. I

So the overworked VO will routinely refuse applications unless there is a compelling reason to approve. But if the applicant re-submits, challenging the VO’s reasoning in a cover letter, but essentially drawing the VO’s attention to the strong evidence already presented in the original application, then the VO has to pay more serious attention, and the chances of approval rise significantly. Essentially the applicant is taking his application out of the big pile of applications in the first in-basket and putting it in the smaller pile for special VO consideration.

At least that’s what my “insider source” says. So, if you want a TRV, apply early, giving yourself enough time to re-apply. If you really want to make the best case, give yourself time to get the CAIPS notes after the first refusal, then address those VO concerns in the new cover letter.
If they take 45 seconds to review eligibility, why does some eligible review last for over a month?

Bosses, in a situation where the profs aren't taking master's student in the field I want to study, what do I do?
And the school (Dalhousie University ) says it's not mandatory to contact supervisors. Do I apply to the same field still or to another
If profs frankly told you they are not taking new students, then you should be looking elsewhere. If you are applying for a research program, your admission is contingent upon availability of a prof willing to take u. Else, u can go for m.eng

Hi, this is the 5th week since I applied for my study permit! As at the time that I put in my application, the estimated processing time as stated in CIC site was 7weeks! I submitted via the paper route and even did my biometrics same day but it still hasn't been updated as completed. Eligibility review hasn't even commenced. The only thing that was updated on my page about 2weeks ago was my upfront medical report, which shows "passed medicals"! Is this slow normal? I submitted my application on the 27th of April, and my estimated time for a response is 15th June. I got admitted for a one year Masters of Public health at University of Western Ontario which is a highly ranked school in Canada and I am a Pharmacist.

Note: My school resumes 2nd September!
Do you have travel history?
