PoliticsGhanaian Asylum Seekers In 2014 World Cup Receive One Year Stay Permit In Brazil by publisher(op): 9:34pm On Aug 04, 2014
Many have already started menial jobs in Brazil. huh

The Ghanaian fans seeking asylum in Brazil after the 2014 World Cup have been granted an initial one-year stay in the country.

The over 200 Ghanaian supporters applied for asylum in Brazil under the reported pretext of a religious conflict in the West African state after Ghana’s first round exit from the World Cup.

Ghana’s Sports Ministry is yet to get a response from the findings expected to be made through investigations to be carried out by the Ghanaian embassy in Brazil.

The asylum seekers have however been granted an initial one-year permit by Brazilian authorities to stay and work in their country.

Some of the supporters have even filtered into neighboring countries; Argentina and Ecuador with others making their way north to the USA.

“We didn’t tell Brazilian authorities that there was conflict in Ghana and for that they should grant us asylum,” one of the granted asylum seekers Hamidu Ahmed told Asempa FM.

“Each and every one of us came here with his own reason which is definitely not a conflict situation.

“We have received our papers and some of us have already started working. Some of us work in industries and others work in the construction sector.

“Some have however left into neighboring Argentina, Ecuador and the likes. Others are also traveling by road to the USA”.
PoliticsGhana Govt Denies Ever Banning Flights From Nigeria-ghanaweb by publisher(op): 9:38pm On Aug 02, 2014
May God protect us from the ridiculous unpatriotic tendencies of the likes of PREMIUM TIMES and SAHARA REPORTERS who are quick to celebrate and publish ANY news report that tarnishes Nigeria's image-just because they hate Goodluck Jonathan. angry

http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=319546
A highly placed government source has denied reports circulating in Nigeria that the Government of Ghana has banned flights from Nigeria and three other countries that have recorded cases of the deadly Ebola virus.

The source told GhanaWeb.com on condition of anonymity that Government has not considered such an option and is focused on putting in place preventive measures to protect Ghanaians from the virus that is causing panic in the West African sub-region.

On Friday, reports were rife in sections of the Nigerian press that the Government of Ghana had imposed a ban on all flights from Nigeria, Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone to possibly stop the inter-country spread of the disease.

According Nigeria’s Premium Times news website, Charles Asare, Managing Director of the Ghana Airport Company said the ban was part of an elaborate emergency response being implemented to contain the deadly Ebola virus.

However, the sources states that the Ministry of Transport have the Authority to take such measures but as it stands now, there are not enough reasons to impose a ban on flights from Ghana’s West African neighbours.

In a related development, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCCA) has denied news reports that Ghana has banned flights from Nigeria and other three countries due to cases of the deadly Ebola virus recorded in those countries.

According to Fan Ndubuoke, General Manager, Public Affairs of the NCCA, they are yet to receive communication from their Ghanaians counter-parts, the GCCA or the Government of Ghana about the enforcement of the said ban, according to a report by THISDAY, a Nigeria website.

Also the Deputy Managing Director and Head of Flight Operations of Arik Air, Captain Ado Sanusi told THISDAY Friday night that Arik Air has been operating into and out of Ghana, adding that the airline’s flight operated on Friday evening to Accra, Ghana's capital, and another flight was scheduled today from Lagos to the neighbouring country.

A visit to various departure halls at the Kotoka International Airport by GhanaWeb on Saturday revealed that Arik Air, African World Airlines and Aero Air officials were operating their regular flight schedules to the various destinations including the aforementioned routes.

“Five flights have left to Nigeria this morning, and three have landed already, all our flights are working today, if there is any ban on flights to Nigeria due to Ebola disease, airport authorities will direct us to do so,” an Arik Air official told GhanaWeb in an interview.

Nigeria registered its first casualty of the disease when a Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, 40, was diagnosed of the symptoms and subsequently confirmed dead of the Virus that is creating panic West Africa.

Last week government of The Gambia announced a ban on all flights emanating from West African destinations as a step towards preventing Ebola disease from being brought into the country.

In an earlier report, communications minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah while addressing a news conference in Accra on Thursday, had said the government was yet to come to a conclusive decision to bar flights from the countries.

"The issue about whether to bar airlines from Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Liberia into our country or the opposite direction is something that we will study very closely. We will consider all the implications, consider the readiness at our borders and then come to a reasonable conclusion on that," he said.
PoliticsRe: We’re Ready For Inquiry On B’haram, APC Tells Jonathan by publisher(m): 2:30pm On Jul 26, 2014
ayukdaboss: I asked two of my friends who are on opposing sides this question...Why do you think APC/PDP is funding BokoHaram? Here's their summary...Dont insult please..you can just ignore.

Friend One (PDP)

I feel APC is sponsoring Boko-Haram so they can make the country ungovernable for GEJ. This will result in either GEJ resigning or getting impeached as well as getting a bad reputation around a host of international organizations and citizens. If they do succeed with that, even GEJ doesn't resign or get impeached and removed, he (PDP) will receive national hate around the country meaning come 2015, only ignorant people will vote for PDP thereby giving APC a landslide victory.

Friend Two (APC)

It's very simple...PDP is trying to depopulate the North where APC has its maximum supporters. That explains why the "presumed" northerners (Boko boys) are killing and kidnapping their own people. In addition to that PDP is trying to force the north into a state where the Electoral Board INEC will pronounce the Northern Zone highly insecure for carrying out electoral processes (Prof. Jega has already hinted on that). In a situation like that APC has lost almost all it's supporters meaning a complete victory for PDP come 2015.

Please who is really hitting the nail at all among these two guys?
PDP guy is saying the truth jare.

Example: If a Yoruba villain wants to depopulate and destroy Eastern Nigeria, and yet Igbos are the ones volunteering to become suicide bombers or take up arms to kill their own people on behalf of the Yoruba villain. who is REALLY to blame?

Core Northerners should get real and pay the price for the ignorance that they've imposed on majority of their population.

donphilopus: Who told you only one person died in Kano today?! Which of the media houses reported that?! Ain't it Government owned?! As far as I'm concerned, TVC report is the genuine one. The Government owned media houses are not known to report the actual number of casualties of any bomb blast.

The one reported by the Government owned Media Houses might be 20. So, do not believe anything you read online (especially Government Owned media), as regards Bomb Blast!
The blast was not captured on any international news media, including BBC...that's enough evidence that the death toll was very low. Having said that we still sympathize with the casualties. Nigeria Info, Punch newspaper, RayPower, Rhythm etc are not government owned.

berem: Instead of giving conflicting reports about the number of people that died in the bomb blasts, they use scores because they believe the dead victims will be in 20's.

RIP to the dead victims.
How about them simply reporting that 'there were casualties', and end it at that?
PoliticsWhy Do Some Nigerian Media Outfits Report 'scores Dead' Without Confirmation? by publisher(op): 7:45pm On Jul 24, 2014
News just reaching us says that today's bomb blast at Sabon gari, Kano claimed one life (a woman) and injured about eight others. Now the life of that one woman lost is very important and we pray for the repose of her soul.

BUT why are Nigerian media houses quick to inflate the body count of victims after a successful terror attack? Especially those media houses seen to be close to opposition parties? When the Kano blast occurred this afternoon, minutes later Tinubu's TVC had already started scrolling. "BREAKING NEWS: BOMB BLAST IN KANO, SCORES FEARED DEAD.

It seems as if these media houses are PR agents of Boko Haram, helping them spread terror by inflating the number of victims in any terror attack and making it look as gory as possible.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, BOKO HARAM CRAVES MEDIA ATTENTION,and the only way we can win this terror war half way is by denying them unnecessary media attention. #BlackOutBoko

I am not saying that we should not report terror attacks, we should, but let's do it in a solemn, sober but smart way that denies Boko Haram any satisfaction.

Whenever Boko Haram successfully carries out an attack, let media houses report the attack ending with "THERE WERE SOME CASUALTIES", full stop. Not mentioning or inflating death figures and showing us gory pictures from the scene with blood and body parts everywhere. Yes, we can call it some form of national propaganda against Boko Haram, why not? This is war and 'propaganda' is a viable war weapon.

This will surely frustrate Boko Haram, drive them nuts, make them want to come out more in the open and carry out 'News worthy' attacks; this will surely make them slip up, and help in their destruction.

This is my opinion.

FUSHO WILLIAMS had internal squabbles with Ogunlewe and Obanikoro.
Somebody killed Funsho, and made us want to blame Ogunlewe,Obanikoro and the PDP.

BURAHI recently had public squabbles with GEJ and the PDP over the state of the nation.
Somebody attempts to kill Buhari and make us blame GEJ and PDP.

Who is that somebody and which political party does he (or her) belong to?

Answers Please. huh

Nigerians and their morbid taste for gory and blood filled pictures or videos, shedding crocodile tears yet helping terrorists spread their evil message.

Moderators should ban this thread immediately and I trust Youtube will take down this video in the next 24hours.

Several American contractors were beheaded and filmed during early stages of Iraq invasion, how many of such videos were proudly shared by Americans on the social media?

What is wrong with some of you people?

How does sharing this video help our war on terror, other than giving Boko Haram a demonic moral boost and more confidence?

Celebrated the arrest and killing of Abu Qaqa, terrorism no end!

Kabiru Sokoto was arrested and imprisoned, nothing stopped about national terrorism.

Dem talk am say dem kill Abubakar Shekau, kidnapping and bomb blasting still increase day by day!

Someone is now here telling me to be happy about the 'killed' Shekau when millions of shekau can germinate overnight!
Are you not happy that since the death of Abu Qaqa, Boko Haram stopped sending all those annoying emails and phone threats? Or have you forgotten?
PoliticsRe: Death Of Shekau: Misplaced Priorities On NL Politics Section by publisher(m): 8:42pm On Jul 15, 2014
@OP i honestly feel the same way too.
There's really a conspiracy to keep Shekau alive;this explains the intensity of Boko Haram attacks, because a lull would have convinced all that Shekau was truly dead.
The Nigerian government did not want to dwell on Shekau death because they know he was just a mere poster boy for the sect. The real Boko Haram sponsors are right here in Abuja..with support from certain western interests. i suspect France.

I repeat, I suspect France...

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-28318259
Nigeria's president has accused activists of "playing politics" after his meeting with parents of the abducted schoolgirls was called off.

The #BringBackOurGirls group should be ashamed of manipulating "the victims of terrorism", he said.

Mr Jonathan had been due to hold his first meeting with some of the girls' parents on Tuesday.

Islamist group Boko Haram captured more than 200 girls during a raid on their boarding school in Chibok in April.

Mr Jonathan had been widely criticised for failing to meet distraught parents and not doing enough to rescue the girls.

'Psychological terrorism'

#BringBackOurGirls was a global campaign launched on social media to secure the release of the girls.

President Goodluck Jonathan is "extremely distraught" according to his spokesman Doyin Okupe
Mr Jonathan agreed to the meeting on Monday following an appeal by Pakistani rights campaigner Malala Yousafzai.

Mr Jonathan had planned to meet 12 parents and five girls who escaped shortly after being captured but the parents withdrew at the last minute without giving any reason.

"Unfortunately, political forces within the Nigerian chapter of Bring Back Our Girls have decided to take this opportunity to play politics with the situation and the grief of the parents and the girls. They should be ashamed of their actions," he said in a statement.

The girls have now spent more than three months in captivity

"Those who would manipulate the victims of terrorism for their own benefit are engaging in a similar kind of evil: Psychological terrorism," he added.

Mr Jonathan's spokesman Doyin Okupe said the president was "extremely distraught".

"He cannot understand this. He cannot fathom this - that Nigeria's mothers will do this type of thing for children," Mr Okupe said.

Nigeria is due to hold presidential elections next year.

Mr Jonathan has not yet declared his candidature, but speculation is rife that he intends to run for another term.

Last year, he declared a state of emergency in the north-eastern states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe, which are worst affected by the insurgency.

All there are under opposition control.

New York-based Human Rights Watch says more than 2,000 civilians have been killed in Nigeria this year by Boko Haram.

The deaths occurred in around 95 separate attacks in more than 70 towns and villages in the north-east, where Boko Haram launched its insurgency in 2009.

Henry120: Exactly.

It's going to be a long term war, but the military can reduce the number of attacks to at-least 2 attacks in a year. Terrorism is difficult to defeat.

In the past week alone

Kenya
Nigeria
Algeria
Morocco
Libya
Iraq
Indonesia
Pakistan
Thailand, have suffered terror attacks, the list of countries engaged in terror operations is also long.
The most important thing is that at least we know who we are fighting.
