I didn't have the enthusiasm to write this, but I'd be an ingrate if I didn't, as reading how others did theirs went a long way during my capturing process. I scheduled for capturing on 6th June, 9am (they don't follow the time, only the date). Team DIY. The following events took place at Passport Office, Alausa, Lagos;

1. I got into the passport office premises around 9am. I was yet to sign my guarantor's form and I read on here you can do it for N500. I don't know where, but I was armed with the price. I asked around and got offers for 3k, 2k, and 1.5k. I went on to a photocopy shop (three houses from the passport office, beside LASRA) and got it for N1,000. I'm sure if I knew the office of the notary person, I'd have gotten it for less because it was collected from me and taken elsewhere by an attendant.

2. I waited till 10am as the lawyer wasn't around when I got there. When I left, I headed into the passport office (nose mask isn't a must, don't be cajoled to buy one in case you didn't come with one, I'd advise you to go with one though) around 10.20am and submitted my "Application Slip" as requested by the front desk SERVICOM attendant on the right side of the hall entrance. Go straight to them, don't mind the queue outside, go straight inside on your right, you'd see them there.

3. The document was collected and I was told to go wait outside. After about an hour, I went in to ask them what's up, and I was told my name had been called (this is absurd, no names were called as I was waiting outside). My slip was returned and I was told to look at the info behind them to arrange my documents. I was told to put it in a file, that I can get it outside. I went outside and got a pink file for N500 and a tag (you only need one, the guy that sold it to me said I needed two, it costs N50 each).

4. After my docs had been arranged, I was directed to go to the ACI's office where they will be checked by a senior officer. Na here I kon jam agbako! S/he requested the original of my birth certificate which I don't have, I had been using a photocopy from the past as an original. This is my bad, s/he didn't accept it and said s/he can't do anything about it, say s/he no fit sign am except s/he sees the original or an affidavit to back the photocopy.

5. I went back to the woman I used to sign my guarantor's form and I was billed N2,000 for Age Declaration affidavit which was ready in less than 30mins and I dashed back to the officer in the ACI's office. S/he said I was too fast! Because s/he said what I needed doesn't mean I should get it done immediately (wonderful!). S/he told me to go wait outside and threatened to seize my documents if I persisted. I jejely went outside and sat for over an hour.

6. I went back in to check on the officer, explained that I didn't mean to be rude, and s/he told me to go think, say if I don think finish, make I show back. I didn't leave because I knew what s/he meant. To skip details, I added 2k cash to my file and handed it over. S/he codedly slipped the 2k into the drawer, went on to sign my docs and I was sent back to the SERVICOM guys in front where I was told to go sit for capturing. By this time, it was 4.29pm already.

7. I captured and left the premises around 5.37pm, collection date on slip 08/07. Let's keep our fingers crossed. When I tracked at night, my passport production was in progress.

PS: to avoid hiccups for DIY, please go with your original documents or swear affidavits beforehand to support the ones (photocopy) you have.

Do I need to validate the Nin before applying for the international passport?

My dad got approved for a 6 months UK visit visa (his first application with no relevant travel experience outside Nigeria).

Biometrics - Apr 26
Passport collection mail - June 9
Passport pick up - June 10

I am moving to the UK soon to resume a new job and I invited my dad to come visit me in July for 3 weeks. He is self employed (with no official documents - no tax fillings, financials or active CAC listing), he also did not have dedicated business bank statements or salary payments. I was a bit worried about how to convince the visa office to grant him the visa.

I submitted a cover letter for him which explained that he has been running his business for over 20 years, I also explained that there is no specific business bank statement and that we were estimating how much of the money in the bank (15%) is available to him as savings. Of this 15%, he was only going to use 30% for the trip while I would sponsor the rest. We showed a travel expense and funding document that broke down the numbers. Our planned trip expense was 1,800 pounds. We also included our breakdown of monthly expenses and why he wants to visit the UK. His evidence of ties to Nigeria was his 2 dependent children and his business. We submitted 3 months bank statements

On my end, I uploaded a letter of invitation and mentioned I will be taking care of a significant part of the cost of his visit, I put proof of my current job in Canada as well as proof of the job I plan to resume in the UK and my UK work visa. I also included my birth certificate, my UK lease agreement, bank statement (there were lots of inflows which I explained as conversion of CAD to GBP).

I am so happy his visa was approved. I have not seen him since 2019 and I look forward to the reunion. My mum's passport has arrived as well but she has not been able to pick it up yet.

Renewal
Biometric - VI - 12 May 2022
Doc sent to DMC - 13 May 2022
Email from DMC acknowledging receipt - 20th May 2022
Another email from Liverpool visa office acknowledging receipt - 25th May 2022
Email from TLC for passport pick up - 6th June 2022
Passport sent and received through DHL - 7th June 2022.

they are making it harder for DIY with stress only if The minister can strengthen it more by producing passport accordingly to the date of Capture that will suit it out

You have no idea what people go through on DIY. Because if you do. You will understand people are been extorted and there is nothing anyone can do.
I have visited the ikoyi office almost 4 times to view if my passport is ready.

Each visit I spend over 5k on cost and feeding.
Add that to NiN and network issue come tomorrow before I finally capture. Add that to the hot sun and stress.

Remember each visit I took my day off from work.

If I knew this was the stress I will pass through , I would have paid express long time ago and get my passport out.

I read this thread before applying for my passport and saw all the wahala of applying online/DIY. I got an officers number at ikoyi from a friend and paid. Uncle did everything for me, I sent him my details via WhatsApp. I even got vip treatment as I didn't spend up to 15mins there when I went for capturing. Got my passport in 4 days. Went back on the 4th day and got my passport directly from him. Meanwhile they were using megaphone to be calling others on that long queue.
Pay an officer that has been recommended to you and get your passport easily. No go stress yourself.

Sent to dmc -21st of April
Received by dmc -22nd of April on the tracking
Got a mail 27 April that it just arrived ukvi decision making center , but I guess it’s a generic mail
Sent to Vac - 7th of June ( no mail I tracked it)
Few hours later got a mail that travel document is ready
Received by vac - 7th of June
Collected by me -8th of June
It took 6weeks and 4 days
And I was suppose to travel from May 16- May 28

(Ps: I had the above saved in my notes in faith before even getting PPR)

I also remember posting sometime in May about receiving PPR before the end of the month & nothing happened, little did I know God had other plans

PPR landed June 1st, 2022, however; I didn’t know about it till June 3rd, 2022.

Reason for refusal: ‘I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, based on personal assets and financial assets’

I cried my eyes out & almost lost all hope, called my agent to ask for a way forward and if I should stop attending classes & defer the remaining semesters. The thought of the time, energy & money spent made the tears roll out well �

P.s- I had resumed classes online (started January, 2022),it hasn’t been a funny situation especially with the time difference & economy issues but I thank God & I am currently in my second semester in centennial college. It’s a 2years program.


*Back to my timeline gist*
After careful review of my previous application, it was spotted that my Dad’s account(my sponsor) had an explained lump sum of about 13m that entered at once. So we knew where to tackle while waiting for my GCMS notes.

Things I did differently;
Gave a detailed LOE of the lump sum
Printed a new bank statement, this time the opening balance covered the lump sum with more inflow compared to the last statement
I paid my full tuition for the first year
Got a notarized gift of deed of 5m in my personal account
Submitted my first semester Academic transcript
Added a lot of Prayers too (very important)


Second Application:
Submitted April 10, 2022
Eligibility review started: May 11, 2022
PPR: June 1st, 2022

I have also booked for a new Medicals since the previous one has expired to avoid immigration stories/wahala, I was surprised I didn’t get a medical request with my second application.

The feeling has been surreal, patiently waiting for my passport because I don’t even know where to start from, any suggestions will be appreciated. �

So I finally captured…
I noticed one thing. When I went to buy a file as directed, I was asked if I am online DIY and I said yes so they sold a pink file to me. I noticed that others had mostly white and brown files while DIYs had pink files. It’s a systemic way of distinguishing who is who. So they give priority to the other guys. I also noticed that those non DIY files all have stamps with the word ‘SORTED’ and signed while mine didn’t have such. I was later made to understand that 3k is paid for that stamp and you can never get express service without that stamp. So during capturing, my file was the only pink file and you can imagine that after capturing, I was the only one that was told to return my file to SERVICOM. Other non DIY files were neatly parked and officers were coming to pick them one after the other. It was then I knew that if I submit that file back to servicom desk and leave, it won’t be touched in months. Nigeria is really messed up. I was already in talks with an officer to fast track the printing but was scared since I don’t know him well. I had to codedly ask those agents about the officer and they attested that he is a straightforward northerner whose word is his bond. My people I called him, completed our negotiation and handed over my file to him and he promised to deliver in a week. I cannot risk waiting for DIY that’s obviously not going to be attended to on time when I need the passport urgently. I just hope the officer’s word is his bond as people testified.

Don't mind them, they have seen my purpose travel date have elapse before they start processing my application. they just look for one excuse
Imagine biometric done on 21st April, travelling on 26th May, return on 31st May and they made their decision on 3rd June as per refusal letter date what do i except.

Thanks to all that responded.

I have done the following so far…
1. Bought a file, arranged and filed the required documents in a stipulated order.
2. The originals of LG Identification and Age declaration have been sighted and their copies in the file signed on.

I am now waiting outside as they instructed for them to call me later….

Who knows the next stage?

This is my first Time application and my business shows Active on CAC website because i cleared up my annual returns before submitting my visa application also include the acknowledgement letter, but the challenge is that i did not include my Tax Clearance certificate which is different from annual return filling. is an eye opener for others to learn
Meanwhile i have gotten visa from other countries without adding any Tax clearance certificate. which i also include the copy of my visas in my Uk application

sure if your document complete by 5 pm or 4 you should be captured

With all this wait, I hope I will be able to capture today.

you will wait after u have submit ur payment receipt.
it will take some times they will call you again from the same box you submitted the receipt to then when u are call in
you will be asked to arrangement your document accrodingly to what is pasted on the wall after that she will give you a file and also try and get a file tag outside before then cause you will be ask to get one it just 100 naira.
then you will be directed to a room for file sighting the office there will check you file and minuted on it, you then take it back to the lady she will send you back to the waiting lounge were u are before
then after long long waiting lol cause na DIY you will be called inside, then that is when you going for capturing after that na to they wait and they track online oo.

i havent get the one i did there April 26th as capturing date 31st May was the date to pick it but since have been tracking na production still showing
it for my Daughter sha

They have started calling the names of people and have called us DIY people to submit the application form printout. I have done that.
Waiting for the next action….
Today looks like I am gonna wait and be patient enough.

Please if you have gone via the DIY process at ALAUSA please share the procedure so that I will know what I am waiting for next.
