How will the regions be shared, will the status quo remain as per first republic or the current six geopolitical zones? Will population be considered or size of land (sqkm) etc please elaborate.

Like in US, Federal Police will only take ove , case if it is of national dimension or if the crime was committed on a Federal property or area of federal jurisdiction.

To prevent what happened in the 60s where Zik, Balewa and Ahmadu Bello ganged up against Awo using Federal might, the constitution must specify (very explicit) when and how Federal can interfere in a regional issue.

I hope that will work though.

Reasons like everyone is sharing on this thread is the reason why I support putting federalism/regionalism on the back burner till we come out of this sinking recession. While a good thing, it is a huge distraction.

Imagine having a coming together of say 10 representatives from each state to discuss restructuring (regionalism or federalism), it will take light years before a peaceful common sense agreement can be reached.

BTW, I have a picture in my head where minimum wage is say in the N75,000 range in Lagos, Ondo, Rivers, or Akwa Ibom for example, and it is say in the N30,000 range in states like Nassarawa, Ebonyi, Kwara, Sokoto for example, that will surely spur massive migration.

regionalism allows a better recourse and provides a wide array of options to use for protecting regions from mass migration due to wage disparities.

Regionalism did not prevent Zik, an igboman/non-Yoruba, from trying to become Premiere of the then Western Region headquartered at Ibadan (not even Lagos). Neither did it prevent the central govt (the unholy alliance of Balewa/Ahmadu Bello/Akintola) from undue interference via federal might and destabilization of the Western region and jailing Awo. Personally I am for any arrangement that provides a clear path to secession.

Apparently your research was hurried done without a careful consideration of important factors that make Lagos and Ogun State (because of positive externalities from Lagos) viable. What are the IGR of other Southwest States?
Lagos is what it is today not just because of its geography (the Ports), infact the demographic composition of Lagos is to a large the reason it is bouyant. ou probably are not aware of the percentage of Lagos IGR that taxes account for, or do you think the government taxes the bridges or poles? The bulk of the taxes generated by Lagos State come from Business people who are mostly non-yorubas and in exchange, the Lagos State government is supposed to ensure a conducive and people/business friendly environment, but far from it. My point is that the Lagos State government is the better-off Party in this relationship.
You need to do your research again cause you omitted the most important consideration. Or, you are probably from Osun or Ibadan and advocate regionalism so that your State is not left in an economic wilderness.
I am not tribalistic but don't get it twisted, the SS will be better off in the long-run should through Federalism come!

Every state will make an effort sir, simply because they are now closer to the people with more powers and decisions vested upon them, so it is a must that they perform because they No longer have the federal government to blame for non performance.

I do hope so though, cause if that does not happen it is going to be full on anarchy.
