No horror movie has gotten me scared but some have made me paranoid as hell over the years eg. wrong turn, I know what you did last summer, etc.

When I travel long distance & we're in the middle of nowhere at night, my thoughts always go back to the homicidal hillbillies in wrong turn. I always think, "OMG, what if we get a tire puncture & some guy with a hook appears out of the woods to skewer us with it".

Yes. It happened in the past. We all did a few dumb things when we were younger.

I've seen quit a few to know. Discipline is what I enforce as a teacher. Informal education usually requires informal modes of discipline.

Btw, here it is worse. Some schools even have metal detectors, securities & cops on school grounds because the students either beat up, stab or shoot teachers.

Imagine a kid telling you to your face that you're gut wrench poor, ugly and miserable? To make it worse, after insulting you, they'll tell you there's absolutely nothing you can do about it, right to your face. And yes! The school won't do anything about it, cos they care about the child's school fees, more than the welfare of the child.

This is among the reason why I quit my job teaching in schools and set up my own gig, where my law reign supreme. Wanna know my law? Its simple pidgin english, "if you do anyhow, you go see anyhow".

I modified my post to give an alternative solution.

Good for you for doing your own thing though if working with children in that field wasn't your thing. Because I do believe it requires an unbelievable amount of patience.

It's against the law where I'm from. Even when it was legal, I thought it was unfair because sometimes the teachers are obviously dealing with personal issues & pent up anger, which they direct on innocent children.

There're other ways of teaching discipline or punishment, eg. detention. It works like magic because nobody wants to stay an extra 3 hours at school while their mates are out playing & having fun.
