The virus takes upto 3months to mature and become evident.

Don't be too sure yet! that is, if this story is true.

Anuoluwap: There's God o!
If this was so existent as religionists make it out to be, we wouldn't have been here debating it. Why are we not debating "the moon"?

God conviction starts and ends in your mind. Everybody cannot believe what you believe.

5minsmadness: A polytheist believes in many gods right?
Sorry I'm not one.
You seem to have misunderstood my line of reasoning.
What I am saying is, have you considered that Obatala or Chukwu and God almighty are one and the same? Just under different languages?
Stop projecting your thought as though it's one new invention. You are yet to start thinking.

If you believe in a supreme God, it is called "monotheism".
But, you've got to go inside your house and analyse how these gods are one and the same. One, originated life at ile-ife, another in the garden of eden and later had a son, yet another says "Mohammad(pbuh) is His last prophet, etc.

Stop derailing the thread, thought the OP invited atheists.

In any case, if anyone is of the view that traditional divination is evil, then christian prophecies are evil too.

Then you've got to be a polytheist. I am sorry if your position was misunderstood.

5minsmadness: A pity I arrived on this thread late. However:

Do you know that in Greek mythology Prometheus also made man out of munld while Athena breathed on him to give life. Does it not trouble you that all 'mythology' have basic similarities when it comes to the creation of man? Could it be possible that early on in man's history the truth was simple and well known but as time went on and man traversed the earth and seperated from each other and different languages came up that the story got muddled up in the process. Does similarity here not give a clue that a supernatural being was involved in man's creation? And do you notice how all ultimate supernatural beings have the same characteristic as God almighty?

Second bolded, has it occurred to you that the Almighty entity has tried time and again to make himself known to us, hence the salvation story?
See here, list of creation myths.
http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_creation_myths

The reason you dismiss others as fables, is the same reason i dismiss yours. For science to accept any, is to throw in the towel.

toluxa1: Seun , Was it the crashing of your academics or your people's reaction to it? Which one exactly? Maybe you need to hear my own story and how/where God turned out to be Supreme in-spite of my own 'crash'.
I stopped believing because it is crystal-clear that the Universe/God does not care about us. Not because of people's attitude.

You do not confuse coincidence/luck for God. For each time you get lucky, someone else is damned. For Arsenal to win the premiership, 19 other teams are disappointed.
Christianity EtcRe: Is There Anything Like Reincarnation? by qstar(m): 10:33am On Jul 05, 2014
Thought Jesus was referring to "reincarnation" here.

Matthew 11:14

Elijah becoming John.

Jesus never taught "after death comes judgement".
Wasn't it a Paul's Doctrine?

Christianity EtcRe: "Should I Be Disappointed In God,when It Looks As Tho He Doesn't Answer Prayers" by qstar(m): 12:01am On Jul 05, 2014
I laugh when i hear Christians talk about death premonition. This is a christians' thread, so i do not want to be much of a bete-noire.

My Christian neighbour did a thanksgiving ceremony in his church some years back. His testimony was that after boarding a flight, he got a "premonition" from God, that the flight was gonna crash. He withdrew from taking the flight and that craft eventually crashed, nobody survived.

Now, is this his alleged premonition from God?
And if it's from God, what kind of God is this? killing everybody on board and only my neighbour coincidentally missed it. I was happy for him though. But, i was marvelled at "why" he should be making a party out of it.

To be objective and honest. Nobody is worth more than the total number of people in an aircraft. If i was given such premonition, i'd rather sacrifice myself than allow everybody die.

Unbias: Yes, there r lots of tricks and manipulations here n there. But the demonic n diabolical powers n charms I'm talking about r far from those tricks. There r rituals n charms that can turn one to a millionaire overnight, there r rings that you can use to strike people n they'll fall unable ro rise up again, there are evil ropes u tie to ur waist that prevents knife from piercing u no matter how sharp, there r charms that can make you disappear especially during accidents, there r evil mirror u can use to see people in America while in Nigeria and cast spell on them n command them, there r juju u can use on a woman to make her love you, there r juju u lick in order to have whatever you request from anyone given to you, there r bullet proof incisions, I could go on and on. These are not hear say friend. There r satanic forces n powers n u can verify my claims if you r truly curious. You only need to make some consultations n maybe a little journey.

cococandy: Ok I get what you mean by intelligence here. No that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about awareness, purpose and obvious intention in the characteristics of created things.
Not because the brain has a billion neurons do I see it as a work intelligence.
No. But because it was clearly designed for a purpose.did all those parts know by themselves to come together and work together for a united purpose just out of the blues? It seems improbable to me.
Such things to me cannot have come out of a mindless event
No one really knows. But, i'd rather take my chances and seek answers to these unknowns, than make up a religion outta it and stoop to worship my ignorance.
Christianity EtcRe: Why Do You Go To Church? by qstar(m): 10:19pm On Jul 04, 2014
people go to church most times, just to hear some motivational speech.

Example: You are not alone, God is there with you. Talk to him. He has built mansions for us/you in heaven. Just give Him some money, so He will make you wealthy
Christianity EtcRe: Questions That Baffle Me About God by qstar(m): 10:01pm On Jul 04, 2014
Unbias: Some reasons for shunning God which atheists have given include: unanswered prayers, disappointments, the sins or attitudes of other christians or pastors, scientific errors in the Bible, God's judgement, issues on free-will, lack of personal encounter after long craving etc.
Mine, was never because of any of the reasons you listed above. Mine is out of a strong conviction that this universe/God does not give a fvck about us.

Talk about encounter, how/when/where did you have this encounter?

Science says, come, let's unravel the truth together without fears and prejudice.

Christianity EtcRe: Atheists. Come In Let's Discuss. by qstar(m):
cococandy: @ qstar. Convincing points you put up there.

But I don't agree with the complexity being confused for intelligence part. That's simply not true.
You need to define, with illustration, what you mean by intelligence.

If i can travel back 900yrs backwards and show people my Android phone, Laptop, grenade, nuclear weapons, internet and telecommunication services, they'd probably start worshipping me as God, or a son of the gods.

A religionist once told me that because the anatomy of the brain is so complex currently, it proves that a God exists.

Now, is that what you call intelligence? and has such intelligence demanded that we worship it?

How does internet, computers, phones and all your stupid robotic toys and mechanical gadget elongate a man's life on earth?

How does tending goat and living in mud houses shortens a man's life, when our acestors lived longer than the computer age man.

What is so special about the life you are living now?
You think being on nairaland forum make you any civilised? Keep wallowing in computer animation
Left to people like you. We would still have been in the stone age.
Left to people like you, we would still have been believing that the earth is the centre of the universe(geocentrism), we would still have been believing that the Solar eclipse is due to an intercourse between the Sun-god and Luna.

Evolution is real. You either evolve with us or quit this universe.

Now, stop derailing the thread, stick to OP.
Christianity EtcRe: Questions That Baffle Me About God by qstar(m): 8:43pm On Jul 04, 2014
Unbias: You see like Thomas in the Bible, many people now need to personally have encounter with God before they can believe he exists.
Sorry for the English thingy.

Lemme give you a clue, when next you are discussing with atheists, deists, agnostics, et al, do not make references to the Bible or any religious texts. They don't believe in the Bible, and most of them have read such books in and out more than you.
Christianity EtcRe: Atheists. Come In Let's Discuss. by qstar(m):
cococandy: Here are some frequently asked questions for atheists.
Anyone feel free to pick any number and explain to me what they think.

1. Are you absolutely sure there is no God? If not, then is it not possible that there is a God? And if it is possible that God exists, then can you think of any reason that would keep you from wanting to look at the evidence?
If God exists the way religion paints it, then we wouldn't be here arguing it. If there's anything that will lead us to the knowledge of God, i believe it'll be science. Science has gone to the moon and outer space, why couldn't God strike them down as He did during the "tower of Babel".

2. Would you agree that intelligently designed things call for an intelligent designer of them? If so, then would you agree that evidence for intelligent design in the universe would be evidence for a designer of the universe?
I've asked, who is the designer of this great designer? If this "creator/designer" is uncaused, the universe could aswell be uncaused. Maybe, the universe is just eternal. Besides, what do you consider as intelligence? many confuse complexity for intelligence. As such, what you consider "intelligent" today, may turn out to be a common knowledge in 2000years to come.

3. Would you agree that nothing cannot produce something? If so, then if the universe did not exist but then came to exist, wouldn’t this be evidence of a cause beyond the universe?
That is what science is seeking. At best, it would be cowardice and unscience to jump to the conclusion that it is "Yahweh" or "Allah" or"Krishna", "Zeus", "Shivu", "Amadioha" or "Shintoa".
It could also be that some ancient alien scientist developed this universe.

4. Would you agree with me that just because we cannot see something with our eyes—such as our mind, gravity, magnetism, the wind—that does not mean it doesn’t exist?
.

It is true that such things do exist. They can be measured and their movement/characteristics observed. But they never claim to be the all-knowing, omnipresent, omnipotent, omni-omni and require us to worship them.
Religionists tell me that the life i'm living is borrowed. But, i ask them, if you borrowed something from someone, won't you know and have seen the person. I mean, the borrower and the borrowee.

5. Would you also agree that just because we cannot see God with our eyes does not necessarily mean He does?
I'm an agnostic, and as such I accede. But, i'm very sure that you do not know Him either. One other freaking truth about the God concept is that He/it/She does not give a f*ck about us. And he never descended to come and give anybody 10 dos and don'ts.

10. Is there anything wrong anywhere? If so, how can we know unless there is a moral law?
Morality is not a product of religion. Morality is a product of society. You and I. That is why it is a geographical, socio-cultural concept. What is right in Nigeria may not be right in India. Morality also evolves. Hence, at a time, territorial invasion, r.ape, murder, slave trade were once normal/regular things.
With or without religion, morality is a choice. That is why we must all join hands, and to our possible best, ensure that justice is achieved equally while here on earth than waiting for a messed up after-life episode.

People sometimes ask me: "why do you do good?"
My reply has been, because i want "good" to happen. Change is not by propaganda, but in "action(s)".

Don't bother about cash because u may even get some as free gifts once they see ur curiosity to know about them.

I have seen several types in action but I do not expect u to bliv my report. Pls carry out a honest personal practical research on this before making laughable ignorant conclusions.

The question should be directed at you.

Have you done any personal practical research on them to convince Apatheist?
Christianity EtcRe: Questions That Baffle Me About God by qstar(m): 5:47pm On Jul 04, 2014
Unbias: Pls I need answers from atheists-

1. Do atheists believe there is no God at all or that God exists but He is unjust and not as described in religion literatures?
It is highly personal. Many reasons not to believe. The choice is yours. My personal conviction is that, even if He(God) exists, He obviously doesn't give a fvck about us (hence, I'm more leaned to Deism).

2. Do atheists believe there exist spiritual forces, witches, wizards, spiritual occults etc and the Devil.
Most atheists do not. But, even if such forces exists, how does that prove God? Or you mean, wizards, occults created the universe? Those are rather claims for Gods. Personally, i do not believe in any Devil, unless you mean "good and bad". They are products of we- humans.

3. Do atheists believe there are charms, jinx, spells, enchantments etc
These are also claims for Gods. And mostly anecdotal.
Christianity EtcRe: Questions That Baffle Me About God by qstar(m):
Reiyvinn: First of all, there is no proof of a "soul" (i.e. The One you define as the man that lives after death). Such beliefs started as Philosophy before infiltrating into various religions (thanks to Plato, Socrates and Aristotle).

The only "soul" that exists with proof is our CONSCIOUSNESS which is why the Greek word for it is "psykhe."
This concept of "soul" is still warped.

Religionists always say that the soul is invisible, eternal and spiritual.

Yet, they still believe that soul (a spiritual entity) would be hurt by fire (a physical element).
