I saw this video on YouTube I don't know if you've ever tried this method before.

No, I used the USB method. Just leave it for now. I wanted to run it from USB so you can see how it feels like without altering your drive.

I'd prefer we stick to talk. Just random talks on issues junior developers face.

Javascript is hard, teaching it on Google meet won't make it not hard. cheesy

Do well to include the time.
I believe I can teach JS in a way, that people will grasp, few JS dev teach the underlying thing,they just touch ES6

good evening, the SD method didn't work, the file is corrupt. I how about I save the file on my phone internal memory? embarassed embarassed

Should I install, does it mean I'll have to keep choosing between window 10 and Lubuntu everytime my PC is starting up, I'm asking because from the videos I watched on YouTube, it seem like the PC now have two phases kinda- Lubuntu and Win10.
Yes dual boot, but for now still use your Windows most SD cards are fake so I knew it would be corrupted. Just use windows for now.

ProgrammingNL Weeking Meeting: Encouraging The Need For Community by qtguru(op): 1:08pm On Apr 26, 2021
Hi, I decided to create this thread so we can have a weeklly meeting, the goal is to foster collaboration and also share ideas amongst members.

Format of the Meeting

2 Speakers Speak for 30 Mins or 1 Speaker for 1hr

The goal is to have either 2 or 1 Developer teach something or have something to show so Developers can be motivated, inspired and aware of certain things.

Note: Be Humble, No Ego or confrontation allowed during the meeting, and it occurs once a week every Wednesday, each time will be scheduled on this thread.

Choice of Tool

Google Meet, but later in the future we will look at Spaces for more Debate and conversation like format.

Take care

The First Meeting is for Wednesday, so who wants to volunteer as first candidates and what topic to be covered.

What do you think about ReactNative?
Personally: I prefer Flutter but ReactNative is a good source of income if you have the skills, but for someone like me, I do not like it. I prefer Flutter

Fvck shit, what do you sell
* Planning to Sell

Shopify Themes and Apps for now then later Moodle since those are something I know how to do. Moodle you get good jobs because it is very rare for people to create themes, I can guarantee you that the moment you create one, you can sell to alot of people running Moodle. it is just complicated. I have one in works but Moodle Development is old PHP Code and very complex. so alot of research while coding.
ProgrammingRe: Log: Awesomewm Linux Customization With Lua by qtguru(op): 6:47pm On Apr 24, 2021
AwesomeWM depends on the Widget System so my next goal is to study the Widget system since I have the basic lua knowledge now, I can move ahead to consult AwesomeWM documentation and read about the system.

Points to Consider

* How Lua offloads renderings operations X 11 ( Linux Display Server / GUI , (For JavaScript/Java Devs: Think about it like Canvas you can draw anything on it) )
* Widgets Libraries
* Realtime-update
* Networking and HTTP Request ( API Based Widgets e.g A Widget to show NL post on Linux UI )

ProgrammingRe: Log: Awesomewm Linux Customization With Lua by qtguru(op): 6:35pm On Apr 24, 2021
The reason for picking AwesomeWM is because I have Multiple Screens and it is an hassle to use the mouse and also toggle between windows.

Imagine having a large screen monitor and having the ability to have multiple windows like this

It is very productive and with just the keyboard, I can move to other screen, switch to a workspace, adjust the width between the gaps and also keep track of certain tasks. e.g Deployment, Builds and etc while using less memory from the system.

ProgrammingLog: Awesomewm Linux Customization With Lua by qtguru(op): 6:22pm On Apr 24, 2021
Good Day I will keep this concise and clear.

The goal is to customize AwesomeWM a X11 Window Manager for Linux, it is a tiling window manager that manages your window, it is somewhat akin to i3 for linux, except that this is more comfortable to use

Why am I using AwesomeWM

Traditionally I run the Windows platform, however Windows consumes 1.5gb to 3gb to run, along with other services, I do alot of work, so memory management is important, AwesomeWM is very light on memory usage and the interface are basic information

The goal is to customize the Theme and also post what is required to modify the interface, X11 is responsible for rendering the UI we see, pending it is replaced by Wayland, with AwesomeWM and Lua we can render some widgets via AwesomeWM libraries for custom interface

From the screenshot you can see it consumes only 694mb, it could be less, but I have some services running like docker, and some KDE tools.

Goals for Project

* Customize Theme
* Create Widget
* Explain how rendering on AwesomeWM works and how to draw your own desktop item

Github Lua

I will update more as I go

Yeah, it happens a lot. In fact the whole freelancing market is a scam, a mini max games. You get cheated a lot just to get paid.
What escrow did you use ? it happens though it's why I prefer to sell than freelance.

The Lubuntu file I saw online is just 700mb while the Ubuntu is 2.6GB so which one is the right one?
I'm kinda confused.
No difference only the distro and additional softwares but they all use the same Linux kernel
Xubuntu = Xfce
Lubuntu = Lxde or lxqt
Kubuntu = Kde plasma
Ubuntu = unity/ gnome

Okay thanks, I'll download the file now. The SD should be blank by default before the Rufus installation?
Yes , start with XUbuntu or Lubuntu they are both very lightweight, because sooner or later you will enter cloud hosting (For complex applications (Docker + PHP ), and Unix is the closest to the cloud

USB Hard drive? I don't. Can I use an SD card?
Depends if it is an original SD card, else you will get a corrupted copy, and also the speed read as you will be booting from the SD Card, it should work

4GB. 250 HDD. How do I install Linux?

PS: it's HP ProBook 6460b
if you have a usb, create a Live USB and download a linux iso, you can use a tool called rufus,but ensure you create a seperate partition so you don't format your windows.

lol funny guy, Window 10 is stable, rarely does it crash but you can always port to linux. Linux is very lightweight and does the job.

No but if the person can try Hubstaff, but it is a patience game.

Is it that the system OS is corrupted or you mean the laptop is having a specific hardware issue.

Boring?? If only know how much I enjoy your comments, Karleb's, Tents****.

That Lenovo PC you quoted, I was looking at blowing all my savings into it as this my HP ProBook 6460b might crash soon. But I don't know if that's a great idea as this HP is still running but my fear is her age.

NB: it's currently in cr.ypto. What do you think?
Why do you feel it might crash ? the HDD or the system ?

Please can you give me guidelines on how to go about this. Have tried so manytimes but get lost along the way.
Personally this is what works for me, so it is not a definitive guide:

1. Always have a Side project something meaningful
2. Tilt towards platform driven development e.g Shopify, SalesForce, Moodle, Wix
3. Try and builld something to sell e.g Themes, Product, Mobile App
4. Join Upworks and based on skills requested, ramp up and do one of those task and put in GitHub and attach to your profile, so there is evidence
5. Join a community, e.g I belong to Processwire where I help and sometimes write guides for me, it has exposed me to opportunity
6. Read and follow developer trends e.g
7. Get a Domiciliary account and a USD Account Wise
8. Create a small company and try to make some mini products and sell. e.g WordPress is a good market if you can get over the code

All these involve alot of hard work and sometimes it might require collaboration, one person cannot do it alone , it is possible but better for developers to work together. My own opinion

Take with a pinch of salt but it is working for me, also decorate your LinkedIn. I am currently working on a side project I will create a thread here for it.
