Odewaleadesoye: Abuja based legal practitioner, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has faulted the arrest and detention of Lagos based singer, Habeeb Okikiola aka Portable by operatives of the Nigeria Police over debt related matters.
The lawyer insisted that police missed the track and went out of its statutory functions as the law does not confer power to arrest over debt on the agency.
Portable was widely reported to have been arrested by the police in Lagos over his inability to pay for a G-Wagon vehicle he purchased from a motor stand.
Reacting to the development in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, the lawyer said that although Portable may be troublesome, his arrest and the method of debt recovery employed by the Nigerian Police Force was in blatant disregard to the country’s laws.
the lawyer stated.
Olajengbesi therefore pleaded with the Nigerian Police Force not to reduce its esteem but to always act within the ambit of the law that established it.
Police have jurisdiction over debt case because its a criminal offense when you owe and agree to pay but fail to pay. Everyone that manage to go to law school will just be showing himself even when the case is obvious. Anyway, what do i know?

The ones they have dug and spoiled roads, how have they helped us? More critical problems about bad roads, insecurity, poverty, hunger, lack of basic health care facilities etc are bedeiling the country, they are just looking for ways to sap without the people enjoying any benefit from it. carry on. Nigerians are getting wiser
The government knows what to do to address security challenges in the country, but they won't. You know why? no one holds it accountable. In the developed world, the government is afraid of the people But here in Nigeria the people are afraid of the government and that is why Nigeria keeps deteriorating . There was once a country called Nigeria. All the young people do is come online and insult each other's tribes while the government continues to do what it likes. Nigeria can never improve until the citizens change because it's in our hands.

MEEVEET: First thing first listen to Peter obi interviews on moving from consumption to productions
Read and understand theory of comparative advantage
Then try and familiarize yourself with how developmental economics works
Now
Your revenue to debt servicing is already 110% This means that you need to borrow 10% of what you earn to pay interests for the loan we have already borrowed
Recurrent expenditure is about 200% revenue that's the money needed to run government, pay workers, buy diesel for army, police and others
Does it make sense now to borrow money and do a very beautiful fine sweet costal road that would increase debt servicing/ recurrent expenditure and not increase revenue?
Does it not make sense to invest the loan into something that would increase revenue and at least pay back it's own loan? Is that not the logical thing to do?
How do you do this you would ask... By investing in your people like Peter obi said... How?
Let's take example a village in Benue... That village have 300 farming families and have 10,000 hectares... But can only farm 1000 hectares yearly due to manual labor
Now imagine CBN sends people to talk to this people... Why not put all your farms together and form a cooperative, each person shares being the percentage of farm they bring
Then as a cooperative you approach a bank nearest to you, they give you loan interest loans given to the bank by CBN
With this loan thy buy improved seeds, mechanize their farms
Not only would their yeild per hectares increase based on improved input they now farm more lands in far less time... So cost of production drops
They can still approach banks for more loan to process their products, for rice rice mill for cassava you can have ethnol , fruity juice for fruit farmers ,Feed mill for corn and soya bean farmers
These reduced the cost of production, make the price of foods to reduce and farmers richer
You don't do this by providing 75 billion to SMEs You do this by providing minimum of 5 trillion years to banks at an interest rate of say 2% banks search for this cooperative, educate them, guid them and give them loan at say 7% interest rate
Must not be farms can he garments factory, leather works, ICT companies, etc
Israel shelled Rafah on Thursday as US President Joe Biden offered his starkest warning yet over the conduct of its war against Hamas, vowing to cut off arms transfers if an offensive into the southern Gaza city goes ahead
One of the cardinal laws in winning war is don't attack anyone that did nothing or said nothing. Israel was busy enjoying her celebration , while hamas were busy preparing, practicing and simulating how to attack Israel, which they did and succeeded. Now people who sympathise with Hamas who come here are talking about Israel attacking civilians. Do you have any idea how many Israeli civilians, including women and children, were kidnapped, raped and murdered while some are still under Hamas's grip? One good turn deserves another. Let Iran that has being deceiving Hamas help them out. Iran launched 300 missiles into Israel in one night, and only one little girl was killed with a few properties destroyed. What does that tell you? Iran is no Israels'match. Besides, Israel is innocent and will defeat Hamas. Besides, how many months has Biden left with to be in the office before Trump enters? Hamas should just pray the war ends before trump comes in, otherwise, dont let me say what will happen.
African leaders are all the same. I don't know if we should call it Africa Leadership Infection. Pathetic!. Anyways, let me not talk, if he causes any political crisis in that country, they should know we wont habour their refugees even though they are just about 8.8M only as a country.
