Politics › Re: Sowore Pledges To Abolish The Senate If Elected President In 2019 by QualityHealthCa: 1:09pm On Jul 27, 2018 |
sowore2019: A Presidential aspirant championing for Take it back, Omoyele Sowore, (Sai Bobo) on Thursday in Kano, said if he emerges victorious, he will abolish the Senate, which he described as a drain pipe of the nations’ economy. Sowore, who is the Publisher of Sahara Reporters told reporters in Kano that the current Senate is composed of a bunch of old retired top Civil servants, who after retirement head to the Senate, as a conduit pipe to siphon the nation’s resources, at the detriment of the downtrodden.
Based on research, he noted that the Federal Government spends a whopping N1 trillion yearly, as salaries and emolument to Senators, including constituency allowances, pointing out that this huge amount should have been channeled to Agriculture Education, which would at the long run benefit a larger chunk of Nigerians.
Also, he argued that the current Presidential system of government is capital intensive, promising that, if elected, come 2019, he would opt for a Unicameral Legislature, whereby the lawmakers would serve on part time basis, so as to conserve more funds that would be channeled to other critical areas for development. My era, as President, if elected, he said would be a departure from others, as he would ensure the fulfillment of election promises, made during electioneering campaign, so as to defend his integrity by marching his words, with action, as well as what is practicable to fulfill, rather than deceiving the masses in broad day light.
However, he regretted that the numerous zoning system applied in the polity has repeatedly failed us, describing it as a lazy man’s approach to politics, which must be jettisoned, so as to elect credible, trusted and result-oriented leaders, who would not offer untenable excuses as reasons for non-performance.
”We have rotated power, based on religion, ethnicity, and region, which has failed us. Therefore, leaders, who are based in the North do not have the interest of Northerners at heart, likewise the South West and South East, therefore, what we are looking for in Nigeria is a leader, who have the interest of the masses at heart, irrespective of where he comes from.”

He should stop killing innocent people and face the FG of NG the real infidel, they lied publicly that you have been technically defeated. I stand with Shekau. |

blazer2018: What i am saying is that, on like instances where d majority votes are used to pass or turn down bills and motions, u need two-third of both houses to impeach an Executive...and as things stand, PDP does not have it. Okay, thanks a lot. |
Politics › Re: Security Agencies Lay Siege on NASS as Saraki, Ekweremadu defy Buhari by QualityHealthCa: 5:48pm On Jul 24, 2018 |
blazer2018: The last time we experienced this kinda standoff btw d Executive and d Legislative at d Fed level was during OBJ's era, and he always won...it is obvious those that plotted to oust Saraki today didn't get their games right...I would have pulled off a better plan.
Buhari brought this upon himself when he chose not to meddle into d affairs of d Legislative arm of government when he came to power...he shot himself in d foot...i told my friends back then dat he will come to regret it (and i am right)...Even all over d world, leaders try as much as possible to to influence who becomes what in d Legislative arm so that they can carryout their plans for their citizens without harm-twisting...but Mr President was naive in dat instance.
Now that it is obvious that Saraki and Dogara will remain in their seats till next year...Same goes with Buhari, because even if a vote of no confidence is issued against Buhari, d opposition still do not have d quorum to impeach him.
So status-quo will be maintained...and d cat and mouse game continues at d detriment of d masses.
I am just waiting for who would laugh last....I don't want to take online polls serious, as it has bn bastardised...Plus those with most votes don't even have access to d internet...it has ended up not affecting d main elections in so many instances....2019 is almost here, let's see how things will play out...For one, i am sure all those in PDP won't go into d elections united because of post Presidential Primaries palava...but one thing is for sure, Buhari now has more enemies than he can think of...2019 will be very tough...Let's see if Buhari will survive this one. Pls can you explain the bolded about not having enough quorum to impeach him? Of a truth Buhari has more enemies than before like GEJ did 2015 but as you implied, his enemies aren't united. |

Nwaforj44: The Consul General of Nigeria in South Africa, Godwin Adama, said there are about 5,000 Nigerian Medical practitioners working in various hospitals in South Africa. The Vice Consul, Information and Culture, Mr David Abraham, said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja.
Abraham quoted the Consul General, Godwin Adama, as saying this when Nigerian Doctors’ Forum South Africa, led by its Secretary General, Dr Emeka Ugwu, visited the CG in Johannesburg.
“This shows that virtually every hospital in South Africa has a sizeable number of Nigerian doctors; and this includes teaching, public and private hospitals.
“What this means is that Nigerian doctors and other professionals are constantly adding value to the system and this cannot be over-emphasised.”
He said South Africa is replete with Nigerian professionals, who are contributing to the economic development in both public and private sectors of the the country.
“Unfortunately, this has been either not reported at all or grossly under-reported.
“It is in this light that Nigerian professionals in South Africa have determined that they will no longer sit by and allow their numerous contributions be undermined and eroded by negative publicity,” he said.

Pavore9: The issue here is many are not interested in going to study it. In Nigeria, many who are studying or studied Guidance and counselling likewise Psychology did it or are doing it not because of passion but rather than continue to be frustrated by their inability to secure their dream courses they opt for them. In Nigeria, you get to study Counselling psychology from the Masters level and going through the course outline, I realize that most of the content is what is taught at the Bachelors level of Counseling Psychology in Kenya.
Those Priests and Sisters here realized the inadequacies thus the need for further studies. I know 2 Nigerians Reverend Sisters who are presently doing their bachelor's degree in counseling psychology in Nairobi, one told me she worked in an all girls boarding school in Nigeria where staff are at loss with how to effectively relate with the students as they always see them as rebels ignoring the fact that according to Erik Ericsson Psychosocial stages of development those adolescents are dealing with identity conflict. With her going to Nigeria in January to spend a term in the school to work briefly, she let the school administrator know that a school counselor should never also be a subject teacher in the school as it hampers therapy and whatever students share in therapy remains between the counsellor and the students (clients). She psycho-educated the students that going to therapy does not mean one is sick.
That in the course of work during the term that through congruence, empathy and unconditional positive regard those young girls were able to share so much with her because they sensed confidentiality and zero judgement. Through Psychoanalysis,SFBT and Cognitive Behavior Therapy she helped those students to get unstuck as the students were so surprised because they were expecting condemnation and the use of the scriptures to drive home why they need to change and this is what is motivating her to wanting to specialize in Adolescent therapy.
Studying Counseling Psychology is open to anyone who has a passion for it. Nigerians still feel it is the domain of spiritual leaders to offer psychological support when in reality they have no capacity to be a help and even in their ignorance they find it difficult to refer those who come to them to certified professionals as they feel diminished doing so as they want to continue portraying the image of being a one-stop solution! A good number of Kenyan Priests I know do refer their church members to go see a counselling psychologist as presenting issues needs to be psychologically dealt with not spiritually
There is a huge career prospect in training as a counselling psychologist as we need more of them than many of our religious leaders who are messing things by dabbling into what they have no competence in. I wonder why everyone on nairaland.com is yet to rape the like and share button. I personally want to specialize in Psychiatry with emphasis on Psychology, the non-drug mode of treating psychological help issues. Like it or, everyone needs guidance & counselling in this world. Countries that have embraced this truth are the better for it, others who prefer to quite scriptures and spiritualize everything are known to all by the situation of their country. |
