jihday:
if Tolu is unknown to them that means they’ve prepared poorly for this game, last season’s Belgium top scorer who just bagged a move to the EPL can’t be an unknown player
I don't mean "unknown" as in they won't know him at all or he just came out of nowhere. I mean "unknown" in terms of the fact that he's not someone they've faced before, or a player whose style and tendencies they're deeply familiar with.

Yes, they'll watch tapes and all that, but it's not the same as having a scouting report on a player like Osimhen, who has been a top striker in a major European league for years and who they have actually played against at least twice. Osimhen's reputation is so huge it influences entire defensive setups. Remember how Guinea-Bissau defender got shook and scored an own goal that almost looked intentional just because Osimhen was running straight him?

They'll definitely have a specific plan for Osimhen. Big emphasis on specific. For Tolu, they will also have a plan, but because he's not seen in the same caliber, their plans for him might be more generic and applicable to any striker really.

Don't get me wrong, I'm expecting a hell of a fight with South Africa (I'm even more afraid for Benin to be honest) but I don't think it's outright silly to think that they will underestimate Tolu to an extent.

Esther Okoronkwo was a revelation in the last Women's WAFCON. Many people didn't see her coming. Before that tournament started, the names most analysts were calling as threats in the Super Falcons squad were Oshoala and Ajibade. Funny enough, Oshoala ended up playing just one game. She came back in the finals for a couple of minutes but that was it.

Maybe you guys are right and Bafana will lock our offense and throw the key away with Tolu in front, but we'll just have to wait and see anyway.

Na w ooo. Osimhen not traveling to South Africa.
Hopefully Osimhen gets well soon.

This is the moment for Tolu.

I wish them both the best.

Mujtahida:
If anything with Tolu's two goals, they might be even more wary of him. He's an unknown quantity unlike Osimhen
You're right. Although doesn't Tolu being an "unknown quantity" make him a wildcard, and possibly harder to prep against?

I don't know sha. I'm just sharing my thoughts. That's why we're all here. Not all of us can be omniscient football specialists like Samueltemi337.

Nobody said you shouldn't analyse
But at least drop something worth reading
Not that thing you dropped up there 😒

The south africans go loosen up for defence if no Osimhen
Because na Osimhen them come play and not Super Eagles
Look oga, it's not that deep. You're right, they're playing the Super Eagles, but every team adjusts their strategy based on the opponent's key players. Take away a team's biggest threat, and the opponent can afford to be a bit more adventurous.

That's just football 101. It's also psychology 101.

But I appreciate the feedback. Afterall na you be the most celebrated football analyst for this forum and in Nigeria as a whole. Nairaland Guardiola. Well done.

Just wait for the match and watch
I wouldn't be surprised if we don't win anyway
I'm not the one going to play in Bloemfontein. I'm just a fan sitting in my house. The only thing I can do is analyze and hope. What's wrong with that?

Sometimes I don't understand the way some of una dey think.

Over reliance on Osimhen for goals limits us.
Exactly. Plus there is the possibility that the South Africans will loosen up in the defense a little because they feel we don't have any one in the squad that can bring the physicality like Osimhen.

my dear just accept it
Lol. I'm not even saying it with hopes that Nigeria will qualify. FIFA can deduct the points and we'll still flop out. But that is on the players and the coach. So I'm not even talking on the basis of hopium.

FIFA will deduct the points, I'm 1000% certain. It's only a matter of when. Historical antecedents support this as a fact.

The qualifiers have to end patapata first. But I'm telling you, those points will be deducted.

Why is everyone overlooking Benin? There is still big problem if they beat Lesotho, which is very likely. Which means we'll behaving two teams surmount in just two games remaining.
We're still playing Benin again if I'm not mistaken. As long as we beat them too, there should be no wahala. They're just a point above us.

It would be a war though. Arguably tougher than Nigeria v South Africa, because we're technically in the same predicament. And you know how these minnows start playing like prime Brazil whenever they see Nigeria.

Well, make we dey watch. Super Eagles has always been a "second half" team, at least from majority of the matches I've seen in my lifetime. If we win this game, it will be 1-0. And probably a late goal. The Rwandan defense is solid.
I was right lol. 😂

Wasn't a late goal though.
