JohnBullMySon: Don't mind those guys. Chest beating without knowledge. A good team with a poor coach is way better than a poor team with a good coach. In fact, the better a team is the easier they are to coach cause one they will play to instructions and two you won't need to micromanage the game. Just give the overall strategy and they'll follow it.
I have said it here before that until our teams reclaim their spots back on the continental club stage. They are not worth being in the national team. it's that simple.
I didn't watch the chan games but estimating from Chelle's games with the SE, I can guess what happened. I'm sure he tried to get those guys playing upfront which resulted in high possession without result, missed chances, poor ball recovery. Abeg loud it for the dodos at the back! 💯 |

Some people are already even writing off the Unity Cup victory all because of the failure of a useless squad that we already know is useless. 😂 We were always going to flunk out of this tournament. It was always only a matter of when. I don't know why some of us are kicking up dust and acting like this loss was an outrage. We should be thankful they didn't spell Nigeria last night. 🤣🤣🤣 |

Chelle should know it that every games counts in Nigeria and Nigerians want more from him.I just hope he gets it right with the main team. Stage and protest with those NANS jokers and get rid of Chelle if it pains you that much. And you better make sure your replacement wins the AFCON and takes us to the World Cup whether by hook or by crook because I definitely wouldn't want to want to hear your excuses and sob stories then. Nonsense. |

lovewins: Not sure why people are surprised at this outcome. I didn't bother myself with this competition because this outcome was always the most predictable. When last did we have an NPFL team qualify for the group stage of the CAF champions league? In the last 12 years, 2016 is the only time a Nigerian team made the group stages of the CAF champions's league. Read that again, we've made the group stages of the champion's league just once in 12 years.
2 decades ago, you had players leaving directly from the Nigerian league top teams in Europe. Vincent Enyeama, Ahmed Musa, Osaze Odewinge, Yakubu Aiyegbebi, Joseph Yobo are a few examples of players who left the Nigerian league to Europe. It is indicative of the pool of talent available to the league at the time. Now, most of our export to Europe are from academies. Not sure we've had someone move from the league to a big team in Europe in the last decade (Stephen Odey is the only one that comes to mind). What that shows is that we have a league of civil servants who can't compete at any stage in Africa. Only the entire model is revamped, you have a better chance at these competitions picking boys from several academies than you do picking them from the league. Thank you! It's depressing how much Nigerian football has regressed. |

Ihenzy: I didn't talk about removing him. Beside if not for NFF politics and wage you think it will take more 7 days to get a better coach than him? I'm happy you said that last sentence. You and I both know how compromised the NFF is. It's far too late now to be doing any further permutations or combinations. Any coaching decisions we're making right now is going to be a pure gamble because we won't know how well-suited the proposed replacement will be for the team until we play our next couple of matches. And our next two Super Eagles matches are FREAKING IMPORTANT. Pretty much do or die. Chelle is not without his own flaws, but I don't understand the criticism that Chelle is trying to impose his tactics on the squad. Don't coaches like Guardiola and Mourinho have a distinct and recognizable coaching philosophy that show in whatever squad they handle? Don't they churn out results constantly with those clubs? Despite all the attacking options we had in the last AFCON, Peseiro used defensive play and took us the finals. Or was that a fluke? If anyone's should be blamed for the poor team selection, it should really be NFF if we want to stop lying to ourselves. You appointed a coach and gave him limited time to assess the domestic league while also preparing for the senior team at the same time, and you're surprised that his player selection is unsatisfactory? Just so you know, even if we bring in Sir Alex Ferguson as the new Super Eagles coach next week, it doesn't necessarily guarantee that we're even going to qualify for the World Cup. Consistent successful coaching comes with extensive knowledge of the team, strings of failures, familiarity and rapport. The coach's tactics and adaptability is only as good as the pool of players. No matter how good a coach is, he cannot coach a bunch of random primary school students to beat a legit youth soccer team, talk less of a squad like prime Barcelona. Any coach we bring in now is simply going to be a gamble, so good luck finding a Chelle replacement at this dying minute. Any replacement you propose may turn out to be a jackpot, or he may even turn out far worse than Chelle because he is less familiar with the squad. If you are willing to take that gamble, then be my guest. Like I said earlier, we have no choice now but to give Chelle the benefit of the doubt. It is what it is. NFF and their non-chalant handling of our local leagues is the reason we're even in this mess in the first place |

Ihenzy: Lol When Chelle was appointed, on of his first public appearance was at a CHAN eagle training session.
He has been watching and attending some Nigeria league games. From start he already knows that was his job, so this excuses don't count Go and remove him naaa. I'm sure you can find a better coach at this eleventh hour when time is no longer on our side that will be able to read and understand our players perfectly and build rapport with them just before the qualifiers and AFCON next year. |

daveP: Nonsense and ingredients
Terrible mentality by these players. Can't even pass the ball or read the game. Meanwhile, Chelle looks like he still doesn't know the strengths and weaknesses of these guys. Why did they even hand over the duty to him? Na by force? His own approach sef get kleg. But what do you get when you have technically deficit players with you anyway. What a combo of disaster!!! How is he supposed to know their strengths and weaknesses when the NFF just hoisted the squad onto him on short notice? How long has he interacted with the B squad or even watched their domestic games? He had no business working with this squad. He should be focusing on the AFCON and the FIFA WC qualifiers. But sure, let's sack him because he lost games trying to coach a literal circus of clowns on the pitch. |

Mind you, not just one bad performance but too many of them including against an unknown zanbizar Sorry sir. I forgot that these CHAN Super Fowls are actually a squad of world-class players with a winning mentality, especially after their remarkable draw with FREAKING ZANZIBAR. Yes, It's completely the coach's fault they were utterly outclassed and made to look like traffic cones at the defense. We should just fire Chelle immediately and find a manager who can make this team competitive and stop relying on excessive and pointless back passes, maybe with prayers and some pixie dust and the feathers of a one-eyed pigeon. I just don't have strength for talk this night. People are acting as if today was a special loss for these CHAN guys when we know they have a proven track record of performing far below expectations. As for me, I'm giving Chelle the benefit of the doubt. Afterall he won the Unity Cup with the real Super Eagles. It was the euphoria of the Super Falcons victory that even made me curious to watch the CHAN tournament this year. Normally I no send their papa. |
