To be fair we overrated Damugu or whatever his name is. We were very silly to think that he would be able to beat Jorge Vidal tactically. grin grin grin

I always had that nagging feeling that this squad would get exposed eventually.

Omo good night y'all. We look forward to the next WAFCON. This one is gone.

If it were before, this thread would have been buzzing, but alas, seems the interest has reduced.

Hopefully, they put up a great show to rekindle people's interest.
People don see the show finish na. The organizers have shown consistently that creativity and innovation is not their strongest suit. I'm expecting more of the same as the previous seasons. This might be worse than last year's own.

Nigerian fans should also bring lasers when coming to the stadium. Morocco does not have monopoly over madness.
Exactly.

If they want war, we don't have to sit back and keep whinging. We can deliver the same energy back at them. At least we're all wise to their antics now. I seriously hope the Nigerian fans at the stadium will have this mentality.

Secondly, lasers didn't stop South Africa from whooping their asses in the last tourney. So let's not make mountains out of a molehill.

Mujtahida:
What it means is that they might throw off the yoke of our dominance soon just as we did Cameroun who were a thorn in our flesh in the 80's and 90's.

If Super Falcons had met Ghana, they'd beat them squarely. We beat them enroute WAFCON by 3-1.
I personally think before the 2010s, the Nigeria-Cameroon rivalry was more evenly balanced. Cameroon did beat us in three finals where it mattered most (AFCON 1984, 1988, 2000), but we still had many matches in those periods where we beat Cameroon handily. And in the past decade, Nigeria seems to have completely dominated Cameroon... at least for now.

Contrast this with South Africa. Until very recently I can't think of any period in time where they really gave us issues. We've always had games with them in the bag for the most part. At least when it comes to the men. It's a bit tighter with the women I'll admit.

South Africa are gradually becoming the powerhouse they used to be in the late 90s, so we'll have to wait and see how long it will take before they break the Nigeria curse, but for now, they remain our children in football. grin

Speaking of which, I wonder when we'll break the Argentina curse too. I'm tired of them seeing us as a 3-point guarantee in international competitions. angry

You clearly don't watch football. This has been experimented on several times by several teams. The lesson? Keep women away from men.
Then you didn't get the point of the question. It wasn't about who would win. The answer to that is obvious.

It's about how well the falcons would adapt and if it could translate to their performance in their usual games.

They can’t train or compete together due to speed, strength, and power, which are generally greater in men. The Switzerland female national team recently lost to Luzern U15 boys team 7-1 in a friendly. Mental resilience is a matter of mind set that can be built over time. Pushing female footballers physically will lead to a lot of Anterior Cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. ( please refer to events just before the last World Cup).
Obviously they would lose. I was looking at it more from a technical standpoint.

The health concerns are valid though, I'll give you that.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by QueenJazz(f):
I had an interesting thought this morning.

What if our Super Falcons trained occasionally with the men (Super Eagles) so that they can push their physicality, stamina, mental resilience and endurance even further than it is now? How feasible is this approach?

I want to hear the pundits' thoughts on this?

p.s the people who have answered so far are only focusing on what the outcome of the matches would be. That's not what I'm talking about. Men's football is definitely on another level. No one with a functional brain can argue with that.

The question is for the sake of Super Falcons' development. Obviously they'll lose, but with continuous matchups, how well will they adapt to the men's performance and style? And could it, in any way, prepare them adequately for their games against their fellow women? That was the point of the question.

It seems that the biggest rival that Nigeria has now in African football is South Africa. In the 80's and 90's, it was Ghana and Cameroon, in the 2000's, Cameroun. Now it's undoubtedly South Africa. Our meet ups generate a lot of smoke and the games are usually tight with slim goal margins
I still think Ghana remains our number one rival. So much history there. I know for sure this final would have been more highly anticipated if Ghana had scaled through.

South Africa has possibly surpassed Cameroon in my eyes sha. At least within the last couple of years.

But then again, you could argue it's still a one-sided rivalry because we almost always end up winning somehow. It's just like our beef with Argentina. Our games with them are mostly tight but they end up squeezing a victory over us somehow.

I feel like Nigeria is to South Africa now what Argentina has been to us.

Just in case Ghana by some miracle brings down Morocco, I hope they wear yellow in the finals. I'm starting to see a pattern where any team that wears yellow against us dey collect well well from us most of the time. grin
