the grinding stone will make better food for someone like kandikane who likes to eat sand ![]() the second one (whats it called? ero?) is good for that nice whiff of petrol or kerosene in your obe ata ![]() The blender is is a good choice, but becomes a big problem for when you want to use it to mixx cocktails. Your Margarita will be smelling of scotch bonnets. hmm! I'll go for a blender, or a food processor, its neater and less laborious. |
justwise: It certainly does, i can't dismiss that, the school you attended can get you to interview stage or even get you a good job because even the employer might have attended one of redbrick universities, some of these posh-boys are just shallow-minded and can't survive outside their comfort zones. They got no idea how it works in a real world.and this is it, this is the fact of life. We are all skewed towards a tradition and lifestyle that benefits the upper classes. And I agree with you 100% we shouldn't have to base decisions and choices on the 'big boys' and what they are doing. |
justwise: There is a huge difference between being educated ad having a shiny qualification from a posh school.. . . . . it's sensitive, I understand that. But does having one not put you at a certain advantage? |
Now this is just very confusing; This is what google gives you; http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1046/j.1365-3156.1997.d01-322.x/pdf Hbss carriers low levels of pf in kenya http://biomed.emory.edu/PROGRAM_SITES/PBEE/pdf/Udhayakumar6.pdf Hbss with significantly fewer levels of malarial parasitameia http://www.nature.com/ng/journal/v37/n11/abs/ng1660.html This (possibly sheds a little light on things, as the resistance seems to be specific to a certain type of malaria) This Nigerian paper on the other hand. . . .this is actually very surprising. So now there is a higher risk of malaria with associated with SS.http://www.medwelljournals.com/fulltext/?doi=ijtmed.2011.73.76 I'm missing something here. . . . .I'm going to waste my time finding out what! (you can learn from this place i'm grateful!) This makes sense, Similar protection against severe malaria (high parasitemia) is also thought to occur in patients homozygous for sickle cell anemia (HbSS). However, even a mild degree of hemolysis from malarial infection can lead to significant anemia and even death in patients with HbSS. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2722546/ But it still doesn't explain the findings in the Nigerian paper, don't know what to conclude from all this contrasting information. |
Abali1: You can as well use good old google. Malaria and typhoid are the common sicknesses that can send a sickler to his grave if not well treated.the problem is most of these journals focus on the trait rather than the disease. It doesn't make any sense, if carrying one trait offers partial immunity (to specific types of malaria). Then how does being homozygous to the SS gene not offer full protection. Now hearing malaria is a big killer of people with SS is just absolutely confusing. Don't worry I am on google scholars case! |
justwise: That is a bit vain to me, its a class/snobbish attitude thing.I know, but for educational purposes I don't see anything wrong with it? |
Abali1: i have SCD, and i have researched well into the facts, fiction and myths of SCD. Your average of mid 20s is a myth jus like abiku phenomenon. You can ask any doctor, malaria is in the top 5% killer sickness of SCD patients.really? Can you give me a link? |
