35 cl bottle of coca cola and pepsi bottles are sold for 1 cedis in Ghana and am in Accra and buy them everyday. Stop copying and pasting that old lie on that website. Ask any person living in Ghana to confirm that to you and.Also in Ghana we pay 18% Value Added Tax(VAT) on all products sold on the markets. In addition to other taxes such as national health insurance tax on all products and so automatically, things will be slightly expensive in Ghana than Nigeria, aside that 1 cedis is always 67 naira and it's fixed.Send 1 cedis to Nigeria and you will be 67 naira rich.There's nothing as higher value buh naira more valuable than dollars.

The fact that you buy a product made in example Nigeria buh exported to USA for 10 dollars in USA buh same product is sold for 1 dollar equivalent in Nigeria does not mean naira is more valuable than dollars. Ask yourself, larger production of such products locally and very little taxation makes a product less expensive that's why cost of living in UK is more than that of Nigeria or Gambia because they pay more taxes and more quality goods and other factors
If you want to know the real value of the Ghanaian Cedis, add four zeros to the amount of the currency figure being displayed. On paper the cedi might seem strong but that is the essence of re-domination, it is mostly for ease of transaction and aesthetic. With the new Ghanaian Cedi issued in 2007, four zeros were removed while the value of the currency remains the same. In actuality, 1 cedi = 10,000 Ghanaian Cedis.

50 cedis is actually 500,000 cedis and so on . Nigeria dabbled with the idea of redominating our currency but decided against it, if we had done so, 1000 naira would’ve been say N10, which doesn’t change what N1000 would’ve gotten you before

How do you explain this?

The Naira is actually higher than the Cedi, a lot of Nigerians have this misconception that it is the other way round, something a simple google search easily rebuff. The cedi is actually heavily denominated, with four zeros being removed . The current exchange rate is about 1 cedi=67 Naira, in reality it is 10,000 cedis=67 Naira.

Trumpcard05:
Must state resources be shared with party leaders to the detriment of Edo state? What the Oshiomhole and “e no carry Party leaders along” gang don’t want you to know: Edo sons and daughters this is a stand u must take for your collective future. Let the good works of Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki and Philip Shaibu Administration continue
1. Internal Revenue Generation (IGR): Rose from N19.1 Billion in 2015 to 23 billion, 25 billion and 27 billion in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively;

2. Civil Service Reforms: The Administration introduced the architecture to achieve a functional public service and institutionalization of a meritocratic and competency-based HRM system, serving also as the structural model for promotion dynamics moderated by ASCON and backed with highly intensive training and retraining programs for state workers;

3. EdoBest, the acronym for “Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation.” This is a revolutionary Basic Education reform initiative that has radically transformed the learning outcomes for over 300,000 pupils across the over 1,500 public primary and junior secondary schools across Edo State;

4. Payment of salaries and pensions – All state workers’ salaries are paid promptly at the end of each month and pensions arrears cleared and paid up to date. Our workers, teachers and pensioners who have given the productive parts of their lives in service to Edo State deserve their compensation as and when due in accordance with international best practices;

5. The Azura-Edo Power Station: The Azura-Edo IPP is an open-cycle gas fired power plant. Construction of the plant began in January 2016 & was completed on the 30th April 2018, six months ahead of schedule (a record achievement for a plant of this size).its presence has spurred the incursion of more power companies into Edo state and also guaranteed other large industries in the state a source for relatively stable power. Unnecessary to state the jobs created in their multiples by this and overall positive outcome for the state’s economy;

6. Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium: One of the gems in Edo’s spectacular skyline is the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, which has been renovated and fitted with more sporting facilities, including a canopy cover. Competes favourably with like facilities worldwide and has thus been pencilled to host the U-20 Women’s world cup matches;

7. Massive Urban Renewal: there has been massive construction of roads, reclaiming of gully erosion sites, construction of parks and restoring sanity to public places across the state. So massive & unprecedented that it has earned the Governor the alias “Wake and See Governor” a unique leadership style that abhors unnecessary fanfare commonly associated with the typical Nigerian political rulers. This can only be compared to what obtained in the Old Bendel State, as most of the roads were last worked on 40 years ago;

8. Educational Reforms: for example, the Government Science and Technical College has been remodelled to become a centre of excellence in technical education in the state. It is presently serving as the grooming ground for best-in-town technical experts, who are receiving training and certification that are recognized in any part of the world;

9. Edo Innovation Hub: is cluster for technology innovators and inventors. Commissioned June 14th, 2018. Some of the offerings at the hub includes digital skills, business support services, start-up incubation/business acceleration, mentorship, co-working spaces etc. over 1,000 youths have been trained so far. Organisations with presence at the hub includes Microsoft, Tech4Dev, LinkedIn, Curators University, Hotels.NG, and Siemen’s Impact Hub etc;

10. Edo Production Centre: a novel initiative currently driving Industrialization in Edo State. Providing SME’s and Artisans with 24 hour electricity, it has been widely acknowledged as an international reference point for market development and industry linkage opportunities. Currently steps are being taken to replicate other like centres in Auchi, Irrua and Okpella. Welders, metal fabrication companies, polythene makers, printers, woodwork experts, recyclers, footwear makers amongst many others are currently having a great business time;

11. Benin Enterprise and Industrial Park;

12. CCETC-Ossiomo Power Plant;

13. Emotan Gardens: Providing affordable housing units to indigenes of the state once completed; &

14. Fruitful fight against human trafficking and reclaiming of the human dignity of Edo sons and daughters in agreement with our revered traditions and institutions.

Citizens of Edo, the ball is firmly in your court. Nigerian youths, start asking relevant questions & stop allowing politicians take us backward in their quest for personal political gains. What has changed? Is this not the same Ize-Iyamu, Oshiomhole called a thief? Is this not the same Ize-Iyamu that is currently facing corruption charges in court? Nigerian youths, start thinking!!! Don’t be deceived. Together we can show we are wiser now against Oshiomhole & his likes whose actions call us fools daily in the backward way they want to play our politics.

Have you given it the thought that the crime had nothing to do with prejudice? Have you given allowance to the fact that he might just be a really bad cop who is terrible at his job? Don't we have such in our country? But it is not racially motivated because we are of the same race right? Or because no such narrative was attached to it. Did you try to find out the races of the other cops around? This thread points to the fact that it could have been anything else other than race.

A former club owner in Minneapolis says that both George Floyd and the police officer seen kneeling on his neck moments before he died in custody on Monday both worked security at her business until the end of last year.

Floyd and Derek Chauvin, the officer who was fired from the Minneapolis Police Department after video emerged of the moments leading up to Floyd’s death, were employed by the El Nuevo Rodeo club, according to the owner.

‘Chauvin was our off-duty police for almost the entirety of the 17 years that we were open,’ Maya Santamaria told KSTP-TV. Santamaria said that she is not sure if the two men knew each other since there were some two dozen security guards, including off-duty officers, working at her club on any given night.

But she revealed there were occasions when they would have been working at the same event. ‘They were working together at the same time, it's just that Chauvin worked outside and the security guards were inside.’

‘I didn't recognize George as one of our security guys because he looked really different lying there like that.’ The club which Santamaria owned for some two decades was sold recently. She still owns and operates a radio station, 95.7FM La Raza, which is located in the same building.

The building, which is without power due to ongoing protests, is just two blocks east of the Minneapolis Police Department’s Third Precinct, which was set on fire by rioters as officers fled the building in their squad cars. Several businesses in the area have also been affected, as glass doors and windows have been shattered. Many of the buildings are now covered in graffiti. ‘All of the neighborhood has come out to volunteer and clean up and lend a hand,’ Santamaria said.

Health › Monkeys Steal Coronavirus Blood Samples In India by Quelme(op): 2:16pm On May 29, 2020
LUCKNOW, India (Reuters) - A troop of monkeys in India attacked a medical official and snatched away blood samples of patients who had tested positive for the novel coronavirus, authorities said on Friday.

The attack occurred this week when a laboratory technician was walking in the campus of a state-run medical college in Meerut, 460 km (285 miles) north of Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh state.

“Monkeys grabbed and fled with the blood samples of four COVID-19 patients who are undergoing treatment ... we had to take their blood samples again,” said Dr S. K. Garg, a top official at the college.

Authorities said they were not clear if the monkeys had spilled the blood samples, but people living near the leafy campus feared further spread of the virus if the monkeys carried the samples into residential areas.

Garg said it was not clear if the monkeys could contract the coronavirus if they came into contact with infected blood.

“No evidence has been found that monkeys can contract the infection,” Garg told Reuters.

The virus is believed to have jumped from animals into people in a wildlife market in the Chinese city of Wuhan late last year.

India has had 165,799 cases of the coronavirus and 4,706 deaths.

Monkeys have been increasingly straying into human settlements in India and causing disturbances, even attacking people. Environmentalists say the destruction of natural habitat is the main reason the animals move into urban areas in search of food.

Foreign Affairs › Trump Signs Executive Order Targeting Social Media Giants' Legal Protections by Quelme(op): 7:06am On May 29, 2020
Trump seeks to curb 'unchecked powers' of social media after Twitter fact-check

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday to scrap or weaken a law that protects internet companies like Facebook and Twitter. The new legislation comes two days after Trump's tweets were fact-checked by Twitter for the first time.

The new legislation may "remove or change" a law known as section 230, which protects social media companies from legal liability for the content users post.

"In the Oval Office, Trump says fact checking is nothing more than political activism," DW's Alexandra von Nahmen wrote on Twitter. "He says his executive order on social media means they will no longer have a liability shield."

Trump also said US Attorney General WIlliam Barr would pursue the legislation to regulate social media companies. The executive order means that Trump hopes to avoid scrutiny from Congress in passing the new legislation.

Given Trump's history of personal attacks and dubious claims on social media, should the proposed legislation pass, it may force social media companies to monitor his statements more closely or risk prosecution.

Is the move legal?

The executive order remains a draft pending approval. Legal experts told the Reuters news agency that the new law was unlikely to survive constitutional scrutiny.

"The president is trying to frighten, coerce, scare, cajole social media companies to leave him alone and not do what Twitter has just done to him," said Yale University's constitutional law professor Jack Balkin.

Speaker of the House of Representatives and ardent Trump critic Nancy Pelosi described the executive order as "a desperate distraction from his failure to provide a national testing strategy to defeat COVID-19."

The president uses Twitter frequently to promote policies and share his views, with more than 80 million users following him on the platform. On Wednesday, after the fact-checking was introduced, he accused Twitter of censorship and "stifling FREE SPEECH." The tweet in question related to unsubstantiated claims of fraud linked to mail-in voting. Election campaign emails from his team are pushing a similar line, with a higher number of postal ballots likely in November's election owing to the coronavirus.

Facebook and Twitter have not yet commented on the proposed legislation.

The party constitution is very clear it is the state the chooses the pattern of primary ,oshiom is just wasting his time.
shebi you guys said Obaseki is working and the Edos love him, why is he scared of direct primary? He should go ahead and test his popularity

Nah....people didn't really turn out to vote in the HOA election. Go check the results, the turn out was very low because the news of Buhari winning made everyone loose hope to even come out and vote...
the issue of turn out is a topic for another day. Oshiomoles time as governor still remains the best ever since the days of Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia.

stop misleading the public. During Oshiomoles time, it was 62k. Obaseki came onboard and increased to above 100k.

So when they beat E.j Agbonayima its federal government incompetence.
When Igho ro... aka Samson Osagie lost to Uroghide its federal incompetence. When the dynamic Ihama became the first Oredo Rep to return by beating Osaigbovo iyoha na incompetence abi. Even when Igbinedion lost to Dennis na incompetence.... baba, who dem beat, dem beat am well. They came for the neck of Francis, he won because he was good. If u depend on Oshiomole here, u go loose anyhow.
You didn't get my point. Edo people were tired of APC at the federal level (Buhari), not because they hated Oshiomole. You can see that in the last Edo local election that brought Obaseki to power 22/24 won at the state HOA.

Tell them, they don't know. The Benin Abraka road when Ize-iyamu and Odubu no fit influence or do, Obaseki is doing it. People will see what Philip will use the eye of Oshiomole to see in Edo north. Edo central is totally for Obaseki. Oshiomole abandoned Edo central. Very wicked man. He wanted to kill Ambrose Ali University. Today go to AAU and see the structures Obaseki has littered everywhere in the school. Obaseki dy tar streets inside Ekpoma.

It's going to be a fight to the finish.
Obaseki didn't do shit there. TETFUND did it.

I don't understand how you guys view Oshiomole here in Edo state. So una think say he be Tinubu or Edo is Lagos. It's like you people don't understand Edo politics.
The simple fact that Oshiomole is giving this guy headache has made people to hate him in the state. The ordinary Masses who he says he fights for don't like him. If Oshiomole wants to test his power, he should not interfere with the primaries let Obaseki contest......I repeat, there is nobody in Edo state that can beat Godwin Obaseki on a free and fair election.

Nobody, no be mouth, Ize Iyamu no fit...una wen no dy stay Edo state go dy talk. Oshiomole was governor for 8 years yet PDP came back from nothing to a strong force in his time. Today PDP has two senators. It took the grace of God for them not to take the senatorial seat of Oshiomole. The ordinary people on the street love Obaseki at least for his style of governance. He no dy share money for thugs, that's the problem but dude has managed the state well so far only falling shot in areas like security. Aside that. So who dem won bring come to contest against am

Ize iyamu who lost to him in 2016....I campaigned for him. I be PDP, but ask PDP people, they hate that dude now. All they need to do is to play 2016 campaign videos when Oshiomole called him a big thief, that's all. Who else, is it dead meat Odubu when no fit do shit for him people for Ohrionmwon. E never see anything.

Edo state ain't going back to the days of Tony Kabaka and Nomoles......awuaaa
oga calm down. Nor be Benin when we dey. APC lost those HOR and senatorial seats not because of Oshiomole but federal government incompetence.

Foreign Affairs › Namibia Announces Five-year Ban On Buying Cars For Politicians by Quelme(op): 9:05pm On May 14, 2020
Namibia’s president on Thursday slapped a five -year ban on buying new cars for top politicians and government officials in order to channel funds into fighting coronavirus, his office said.
President Hage Geingob “has directed that the vehicle fleet of the Namibian government will not be renewed for the period 2020 -2025,” presidential spokesperson Alfredo Hengari announced in a statement.
“No new vehicles will be purchased for members of the executive and public office bearers in the Namibian government.”

He said the decision would save some 200 million Namibian dollars (US $ 10.7 million), which will be directed “to urgent priorities, specifically at a time when the country is dealing with the health and economic implications of COVID-19”.
The southern African country of 2.5 million people has so far recorded 16 cases of COVID-19, with no deaths.
Namibian ministers and their deputies each qualify for Mercedes-Benz vehicles upon their appointment.
The president also directed a limit on monthly fuel consumption for top politicians, the government said.
In 2002, then-president Sam Nujoma had banned the use of Mercedes-Benzes, insisting that ministers should ride in Toyota Camry cars.
