MaxInDHouse: You talked about SENSE in that comment so i expect you to apply the same thing now!
God said no one is doing good which means people only does what will bring them personal gain unlike what Jesus told his disciples:
“If anyone wants to come after me, let him disown himself and pick up his torture stake day after day and keep following me" Luke 9:23
This means they shouldn't expect a good life at present but hoping for the future even though they will be killed in the process of spreading the good news about Jesus and his kingdom. Matthew 10:28
So how do you expect common men who are seeking personal interest to put their life on the line just for something they can't have in this system of things?
Of course that's the reason why only his faithful disciples who were ready to die for the course took it upon themselves to write about him.
Remember the Jewish religious leaders were ready to kill anyone who is talking about Jesus and this were the same people who will approve any writing at that time regarding what happened in their time. That is why the Christians did not write Jesus' stories in Hebrew but Greek so that the Jews won't have direct influence on their writings!🙂 At least you are now attempting to make sense. But no one wrote about him, not just Christians, even negatively with insults. Why, for example, didn't Jewish religious leaders write that no one should listen to "one useless person faking miracles and talking rubbish"? |

Apoliniue existed, he was a sage and wrote a lot. his works were found by the church and edited by an early church father (John chysostom) and passed off as the work of Paul, So WHY was one Apoliniue writing about a mythical Paul doing missionary journeys and writing inspired letters to various churches? Again, have you ever read the NT? |

sonmvayina: They where all killed by Rome. The fact they all died showed none was the Messiah. One is alive and active today and being worshipped as God and His words never forgotten - exactly as He foretold is that the criteria? You want me to give you people and God's who where tortured...take promiteous for example, who was tortured by Zeus for gifting fire to man. at least he did something good....what did Jesus really do in the story? You were told to give examples of people willing to be tortured and die for a mythical character they created Jesus is a common name in that era...but the jesus described in the gospels is fictional. How do you know? All other Jesus's and crucifixions were real except Christian Jesus! it's a death cult. That was the mode of execution by the Romans. Pontius pilate crucified about 500 in one day, that was why he was recalled by Rome... Death cult, meaning what? Why did they adopt the cross? Christianity was the national religion of the Roman empire. They propagated it. if they don't believe they behead you....it was created for social engineering. So they never persecuted Christians? That story was told by Eusebius, but when history was really checked, it was found that the story was made up... Eusebius was born long after the texts were written. See below why would anybody die for anybody or God. death was a consequence of man's disobedience. I mean who does it benefit, except it's a death cult, like the cult of Inanna. People don't get willing to be tortured and die for a character they made up. As you were told, Achebe would not die for his fictional Okonkwo

LordReed: No and I don’t need to. Accepting that some preacher guy lived in the Levant back in the day isn’t a big deal.
Yes and there are records of there being a number of them.
What has that got to do with anything? The symbol we all associate with Germany Nazis wasn't a symbol of hate before the Nazis appropriated it so what has cross symbolism got to do with truth?
Yes they were persecuted and no it was not in a bid to stamp them out. The Romans like most ancient empires were quite Metropolitan when it came to gods and religion. The reason Christians were persecuted was because they were the ones who sort to do away with other people's gods and religion.
Sure! Which proves my previous statement.
Because until Christianity no other religion sort world domination. Christians inspired the rise of Islam which also seeks world domination so congratulations on that.
Again another mundane claim that can easily be accepted with no big deal. I can accept that Paul existed. However, scholars have pointed out that some of the letters attributed to Paul may not have been written by him.
One doesn't need to have a "spiritual encounter" to become devoted to a cause. Do football fans have "spiritual encounters"?
Some details in the NT are so muddled most Christians are not cued up to them because it will call into question the veracity of the text.
There were profound writings from way before Christianity that contained profound words especially the Greek philosophies which were popular at the time.
There is plenty of reason to embellish your religious tales to add gravitas and make it more appealing especially when you are a newcomer. Look at Islam, they took example from Christians and even went harder.
People like Paul and his cohort wrote what they thought would make their religion "sell" and stand out, that is not hard to see.
Zombies rising from the dead would have been a big deal Jesus or no Jesus. Some of the events written in the gospels are too fantastic to not have been the talk of the entire empire. So you do accept that Jesus did indeed exist. Your only problem is with things like zombie apocalypse? Again, why would they adopt the cross symbol for no reason while it was a symbol of shameful death? |

sonmvayina: The epistle attributed to Paul are all works by a first century sage by name Apolinus of Tyna. it was edited by John Chysostom and passed off as the epistles of Paul. Just as Jesus was created on the order of Constantine, paul too was created too.....nothing divine about it. So WHY was Apolinus creating Paul and his elaborate missionary travels and letters to various churches? Have you ever read NT? You've already been told about Constantine. Do you read history at all? |

MaxInDHouse: YES!
Please read the Bible verse below and sincerely answer the question that follows:
The foolish one says in his heart: “There is no Jehovah.” Their actions are corrupt, and their dealings are detestable; No one is doing good. But Jehovah looks down from heaven on the sons of men To see whether anyone has insight, whether anyone is seeking Jehovah. They have all turned aside; They are all alike corrupt. No one is doing good, Not even one. Psalms 14:1-3
From the Bible verses how many people do you expect to appreciate the TRUTH from God? John 14:6 What has any of this to do with contemporary historians writing about someone? Are you saying they were jealous and intentionally did not write about him?😅 |

kingxsamz: Cus the nigga was just an ordinary person who wasn't that important. But over time who He really was became revealed - exactly as He said it would. An ordinary carpenter's son who said He was God and that his words would never pass away! Then went ahead to die a very "shameful" death with His closest friends denying they knew Him. Yet, against all odds, He is being worshipped today as God, and His words have never passed away - exactly as He said. If that doesn't convince you, nothing else would. Different if He were some wealthy, influential person or a high priest or something. |

thank you for proving my point. A nobody in the sense that he had few followers, no meeting place, no connections, no fortune, no high parentage, and ultimately suffered a most humiliating death at which even his closest friends denied even knowing him. Compound that with the fact there were other messianic, endtimes figures at the time. What confuses you is what Jesus has become |

sonmvayina: i 7. Paul was created by Christianity. The works attributed to him are all works of Apolynius of Tyna. 8. He never existed, the story was told by Christians, no collaborative evidence. 9.The so called new testament is a work by those who actually invented the religion. A whole lot of forgery was going on at that time, notably by Eusebius... Who is "Christianity" that created Paul when there was no "Christians" at time of Paul's writings? |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is Jesus Not Included In Academic History Books? by QuinQ(f): 9:45pm On Jan 06 |
sonmvayina: I asked a question, why is Jesus not mentioned in any history text book? I went further to give my reasons why he is not found in them, because he was a mythical figure, much like all the other gods before him. And you were asked a question: you know those times were rife with messianic figures and end-time preachers. Why weren't any of them mentioned? 1. This is pretty easy, There is no material written by somebody who actually met him and he himself did not write anything and the gospels are not eye witness accounts....They are all written in the third person. They don't even know any body who knows anybody in the story they are telling. just like chinua Achebe knows nobody who knows Okonkwo Ebubedike..... But Chinua Achebe was not willing to be tortured and killed for Okonkwo 2. Yes, they might have been. There is a Jesus ben ananaias in the work of josephus, whose trial was copied and passed off as the Jesus of Nazereth. So you accept thst a Jesus existed, and Jesus-like figures existed, the only Jesus that you believe never existed is the Christian Jesus! 3. Because it's a death cult. human sacrifice belongs to the realm of Lucifer. And they picked a most shameful symbol, the cross, as their sign! 4. The Romans persecuted most religion, the only one they recognized was sol Invictus and Mithraism. Constantine was sol Invictus all his life, he was baptized on his deathbed. And they all disappeared todate except the smallest, Christianity, and you think it's just coincidence! 5.No, emperor Constantine wanted a single religion for his empire, he ask all the Presbyters to come to Nicaea to fashion out a new religion and they chose Jesus and forged documents to give it some credibility. But Constantine's own mother and top generals were already Christians at the time, and he himself said he won his biggest triumph through power of Christ! 6. Hinduism is the oldest religion and it is still in existence today.....last time I checked, Khrisna is a mythical figure...so, Jesus is just a Johny just come... How many people who claimed they knew Krisna died for Krisna? Besides, Krishna actually lived |

sonmvayina: my question is why is Jesus not mentioned in academic history books.....
why?? How many itinerant preachers of the time are mentioned in academic history books? You are conflating the stature of Jesus today with that of the time. He was a "nobody" and there were many end-time preachers like him at the time, and many, many people were crucified bolabizzle: And my answer is that you do a quick easy research online instead of displaying the depth of your ignorance in public. No need to keep calling him ignorant. He's not the first to raise the point, and he won't be that last! |

sonmvayina: There is no evidence that Jesus actually lived, so what would a real historian write about him?
It would be like writing a “history” of King Arthur or Robin Hood, about whom nothing is known but their names and some far-fetched legends.
Was the magical sword in the stone historical, or the bible’s “virgin birth”?
A serious historian would know there is no real evidence that Jesus existed.
Just hearsay.
All that we have is a “big fish” story in which a minnow became a whale.
How did that happen?
It happened because the gospels are fairytale book with:
A virgin birth walking on water A ludicrous ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE and so on… As with other books of ancient mythology, we can’t assume actual events are being depicted.
Thus, we have to seek confirmation outside the bible.
But no one who lived at the time Jesus allegedly lived wrote a single word about him.
The earliest extra-biblical mention we have of Jesus is an implausible blurb in the histories of Josephus, written long after the fact, if there are any facts.
Furthermore, 92.4% of scholars who expressed opinions deemed the blurb a christian forgery, either largely or entirely.
The next mention was by the Roman historian Tacitus, a century after the fact, and he got Pilate’s job title wrong, strongly suggesting that he was quoting what he had heard Roman christians say.
And hearsay is not evidence.
Thus there is no actual evidence that Jesus existed, or any of his apostles.
An honest historian would conclude that he couldn’t write a history of Jesus, only conjecture. 1) Can you prove that Jesus did not exist? 2) Do you agree that there were many Jesus-like characters around that period, and many, many crucifixions? 3)Why would Christians adopt the cross, the utmost symbol of shameful death at the time, as their symbol? 4) Do you agree that it is a historical fact that Christians were indeed extremely persecuted by Rome in a bid to stamp them out. 5) Do you agree that instead of stamping out Chistianity, Christianity stamped out their Roman gods? 6) Do you agree that no other religion in the history of the world, founded by a mythical figure that never existed, has even come close to doing that. 7) Are you saying that People like Paul also never existed and his searingly personal and inspired letters were forged? 8} If you admit Paul existed, why would he be so passionate about a person he had no direct spiritual encounter with? 9) It is easy to say Jesus never existed until you start reading the details and minutae of the NT, then you realize that a) People who produced such profound words should aso have other works like that yet none exists. b) There is no reason for anybody to be making up some of those stuffs some of which did not put Jesus and Christianity in good light. c) If people like Paul never existed who traveled all those detailed travels and wrote all those passionate letters? 10) Jesus durring His time was a "nobody" in context of Roman empire. Asking why no contemporary historian wrote about him is like asking why no contemporary historian of British empire wrote about some obscure itinerant preacher in Akure with few followers and no meeting place, who was allegedly walking on water and raising the dead! |
