Just so you know now. Electrical/Electronics engineering is the toughest of the engineering disciplines. It demands focus. You have to put in undivided attention. Make friends in your class. Better yet, create a facebook group, where you can discuss, go through assignments, and share past questions. Go to class. Take notes. Follow examples. Work on all problem sets and examples. Get your prof's office hours and location and drop in if you need clarification. Study ahead of time. This way you will be able to cover all chapters/notes before final exam. Submit your assignments. You should be fine but be prepared for hard work. |
Captainswag225:What discipline? An adult is responsible for their actions. If you cannot prioritize your time properly , maybe you should not be in university. |
The world's first malaria vaccine has received a green light from European drugs regulators who recommended it should be licensed for use in babies in Africa who are at risk of the mosquito-borne disease. The shot, called RTS,S or Mosquirix, would be the first licensed human vaccine against a parasitic disease and could help prevent millions of cases of malaria in countries that use it. The vaccine was developed by British drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in partnership with the PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative, Recommendations for a drug licence made by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) are normally endorsed by the European Commission within a couple of months. Mosquirix, also part-funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will also now be assessed by the World Health Organisation, which has promised to give its guidance on when and where it should be used before the end of this year. Malaria killed an estimated 584,000 people in 2013, the vast majority of them in sub-Saharan Africa. More than 80 percent of malaria deaths are in children under the age of five. Andrew Witty, GSK's chief executive, said EMA's positive recommendation was a further important step towards making the world's first malaria vaccine available for young children. "While RTS,S on its own is not the complete answer to malaria, its use alongside those interventions currently available such as bed nets and insecticides would provide a very meaningful contribution to controlling the impact of malaria on children in those African communities that need it the most," he said in a statement. 'Enormously significant ' Global health experts have long hoped scientists would be able to develop an effective malaria vaccine, and researchers at GSK have been working on RTS,S for 30 years. Hopes that the shot would be the final answer to wiping out malaria were dampened when trial data released in 2011 and 2012 showed it only reduced episodes of malaria in babies aged 6-12 weeks by 27 percent, and by around 46 percent in children aged 5-17 months. EMA's recommendation is that the shot should nevertheless be licensed for use in babies in the full age range covered in the trials - from 6 weeks to 17 months. Some malaria specialists have expressed concern that the complexities and potential costs of deploying this first vaccine when it only provides partial protection make it less attractive and more risky. However, Joe Cohen, a GSK scientist who has led the development of Mosquirix since 1987, said on Friday he had no doubt the vaccine could significantly reduce the toll of sickness and death caused by the malaria among African children. "I have absolutely no reservations in terms of rolling this vaccine out," he told Reuters. "Why? Because the efficacy, when translated into cases averted and deaths averted, is just tremendous. It will have an enormously significant public health impact." Source: http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2015/07/world-malaria-vaccination-approved-150724055510421.html

Phboy1:OP, I am very sorry. I hope that you get a Job and everything works out for you. |
Is it not the same way you beat your kids at home. You drag them , punch them, flog them with belt like goats for mere disobedience. When you grow up around violence, chances are that you will be violent too. You can do this to your own blood but scream injustice when police does it to you? Was it fair to flog your child 12 strokes because she did not wash plate on time? I only empathize with the non-violent people who are kind and are being mistreated by the police. I hope they get justice. |

GentleToks:In the U.S most convicted sex offenders are banned from varios places. They can hardly get a job, their names and faces are splattered everywhere. They can never live a normal live. This is why they kill their victims because they know that the consequences of rape is bad. However, they still get caught and justice is served in most cases. The sexual assault cases in Nigeria are worse than U.S. The only reason why you think otherwise, is because the u.s media highly publicizes the crimes. In Nigeria, there are thousands of rapists walking the street and living a normal life. Some people even brag about it. We even have some video proof of sexual assault cases in Nigeria. Yet Nothing is done. This is the problem. You and I have to so something. Let us make noise and let people know there will be strict and enforced punishments for rape. It does not seem like a big deal to you because you have never experienced it. If your 2-year old son is raped , come back and tell me that Life in prison is not necessary and then I will believe you. |
I find this posts funny. Nairaland is full of vile, uncouth and immature teenagers. This moderators do nothing. Insults and threats against everyone including forum members. If they are reported the mods don't doo anything. The statements that emeka and co made are repeated everyday on nairaland. Its not even that bad compared to the rubbish posts and comments on frontpage. Sometimes I get angry on nairaland because a lot of ignorance is celebrated. The rules are not enforced on nairaland. Useless posts are celebrated because they want to garner traffic. If you were here in the early nairaland days, you would understand. It was full of intelligent conversation . Sadly, there is nothing we can do about this situation. The DSS is not going to investigate this matter. We will forget this scandal and move on. |
