There were so many high profile murder cases during PDP era starting from Obasanjo regime ( Funsho Williams, Bola Ige, Suliat Adedeji, etc). No effort was made to reopen or solve them during other PDP presidency led by Yaradua and GEJ. Now it is convinient to hang the unresolved case of Bola Ige murder on APC government even when the judiciary has discharged and acquitted Omisore. We play politics with anything and everything in our dear country. |

Omisore was a senator during PDP era, he was actually nominated and elected while he was still in detention during his trial. He was eventually aquited and discharged during PDP era. He was in PDP during run up to the last gubernatorial election in Osun state but decamped to SDP and became the governorship candidate. Nobody seriously called him out during those period. But he became a pariah of a sort the moment he joined APC and got nominated as the national secretary. It shows you are good man no matter what may have happened until you join APC. That's the point you are seeing as been in the devil's camp. It happened when PDP was the ruling party, so is not strange now that APC is the ruling party. Take Oyo state as an example. Those who are government enforcer masquerading as park managers are killers of yesterday who still continue to kill till today. But they are good to go because they belong to the ruling party in the state. Even Soyinka himself will convinently explain himself out of the accusation that he is the founder and grandfather of cultism in Nigeria, judging by Pyrate confraternity antecedent. |
The one thing to understand is that is "people" never send him in the first instance. What his people wanted has always been canvased by the political leaders and elites of the region he came from. All long the leaders never ceasesd to advise and guard him, they never hide and encourage him behind the scene like the case of IPOB. This is what made IPOB to grow wings and become a threat to their own people. Right now they are gradually crashing the economy of the region and driving away investors. |
Get educated and learn to know little facts. Don't use this forum to disguise your ignorance and expect to be fed here. Do facts check before you comment on any news. Is that park and the agberos there not members of NURTW that Mc Oluomo s the chairman ?[/quote] |
xareal:The problem is that we don't respect our own country decisions. You need to know the criticism that followed the revocation of his passport, both domestic and internationally. When Twitter was suspended most Nigerian see the government at fault instead of seeing from the viewpoint of protecting our collective national interest. |
Nigerians are quick to point out how Ghana is way up better than Nigeria. The lesson in this story is that we should learn to know that we are relatively faring better of in this country compared to most sub-saharan countries we like to compare oursheves with. A state governor will be castigated in Nigeria if such is showcased as an achievement in the health sector, not to talk of the President In Nigeria, the grass is always greener on the other side of the field. |
Ordinarily the man should not be detained if not for the way out police force operates in this clime. He could be under investigation and be admitted to bail until sufficient confirmation warrants his detention. Even when it is detained it should be at the behest of a court. We will not know the importance of keeping to the rule of law until we are directly affected. If it is happening to another person we tend to look the other way. That the deceased family is subjecting him to media trial is unfortunate. He is the hotel owner among other welll known businesses that he runs. He does not have to be at the hotel running it on day to day basis. If this death happened in the university or Polytechnic that he owns, is he the one to be arrested and detained as a result? The family of the deceased should put sentiment around and stop twisting the facts of the case on its head and leave the police to conduct its statutory duties. If at the end of the investigation the result does not follow the deceased family narratives, what then happened to the damage that may have been done to Chief Adedoyin reputation? There are several high profile murder cases going on presently in the country. The deceased family should borrow a leave out of these cases and allow due process to be followed devoid of prejudice, media trial and character assassination. |
There is a saying that goes thus " Old age does not translate to wisdom". Old age does not automatically convey wisdom. That is apt in the case of Chinwetalu Agu. If there is any section of the country that should be the least to beat the drum of war, that section should be the SE. |
IPOB declared sit at home has been successful because of force, cohesion, intimidation, threat, murder and arson. It has NEVER been as a result of voluntary or willful obedience. Government has to be there as much as possible for the silent majority who cannot speak for themselves. Any authority obtained by force rather than legitimacy is nothing to be respected. Compare the way SW populace has reacted to the group calling for secession with large dose of apathy. By so doing, call for secession is ebbing and will surely die a natural death. It is not wise that the elites in SE wants to exploit IPOB as a tool to talk about political injustice because of clamour for Igbo presidency by tacitly supporting IPOB criminality and destabilization of SE. Sooner than later, it will be an I'll wind that will blow nothing good for the whole of SE. Time is farst running out. |
Democracy allows minority to have its say and majority to have its way in the same token. Attempt to proclaim your own way as the only way is the problem here. The professor can not claim that the entire Yoruba people of South West are in support of this adventure. It is wrong to want to force the opinion of a minority on the majority of South west people. Charity should begin from home. Let the organization that he is leading becomes accepted by majority of the Yorubas first. Yes there are problems created by criminals but saying that your solution is only way to solve the problem is not the way to go. |
IPOB is still currently a proscribed organization and not a recognized country and yet threatening and suing recognised countries all about. What a joke. Well, I will suggest they initiate legal proceedings and sue UK since MNK is as they claimed a UK citizen and he does not seem to be enjoying UK protection as he should. UN can also be sued too. Infact, IPOB should go on and sue as many entities as possible in order to indicate that IPOB is omniscient. |
What is happening in the S. East states as orchestrated by IPOB/ESN is so sad. It is like the proverbial house owner who in an attempt to kill a rat in the house but ended up burning the whole house down. I believe IPOB is consumed by pride and obstinacy, otherwise they should go out to reverse some of their directives that are counter productive and hurting the whole of S. East. Attempting to use force to make IPOB the alternative to constituted authority as represented by elected governors is not the way to go. Even if a referendum is agreed to now it is certain that people's free will and right to vote according to their conscience will be subjugated by threat of force. |
You do not limit your comparison to only UK. You may find out the way vehicle horn or some other piece of technology is used or applied differs from country to country. The idea of taking the way things are done in Nigeria as the negative way is something else. Take the way gun is abused in America as an example, no country will see it as the civilized way to go. Another example is wedding practice in India compared to Nigeria. It is not bad to try to refine certain societal practice here in Nigeria but not from the mindset that everything foreign is always the right way. |
Gov. Orton spend so much time and energy to make public statements that are so unhelpful to the state he governs and the country in general. The documents is claiming to have may just well be history book and not docunent based on intelligence gathering or the sort. He is here talking of 1800 and Usman Dan Fodio. He is so paranoia and blinded to a fault. There are so many other crises among the people in the state he governs that are not connected to Fulanis and the herders, yet he talks as if all crises in state are due to Fulani/ farmers conflict alone. |

It is quite unfortunate that eminent Nigerians such as Professor Sooyinka as well as others always choose to belittle the country by inviting world bodies and other Western countries to intervene in their country. This is not different from what the past generations of black nations did, only for those invited to enslave us, plunder and steal our natural resources. Nationals from other troubled spots around the world such Myanmar ( Burma), South Sudan, Somalia, Mexico and Colombia (ravaged by drug wars) will not toe the same path such as Africans are quick to follow. We must learn from history and not trade away our dignity inspire of challenges that we may have. Activism should stop where national pride and is required. |
It is good that FFK made his trip to Abuja by road. Even though he was forced by expediency ( the need to attend impo7 political meetings). It helped to enae him see the country diversity in another light, positive as I want to believe from his write up. This is the more reason why commentators like him most contribute to national discuss, problems and challenges sometimes in a way that build rather than tear apart the country. The elites are contributing in no small measure, to tear apart and render asunder the fabrics and foundation of this country. |
This call by the respected professor and other eminent Nigerian making similar allusion is rather regrettable. Citizens of other troubled countries in the world such as Myammar( (Burma), Somalia, South Sudan, Haiti, Mexico, Colombia ( ravaged by drug wars) etc. to mention a few, don't ask UN or other foreign countries to interfere in their affairs in the way Nigerians does. We have been carrying on the same way the previous generations of Africans invites others to interfere in our internal affairs, only for them to enslave us and pliunder us as an aftermath. We must learn from history and persevere in solving our national issues rather than subject our country into disrespect and ridicule just to score whatever point we have in mind. |
There will always be complex intrigues and politics in matter like that of deposition of Emir SLS. Just like he was crtical of GEJ during his time as the president, critics are feigning ignorance of his cticisms of GMB government and economic policies, the northern elites education neglect and some cultural practices of feudal nortn. Emir SLS has been a rather consistent so ial critics rather than been targeted against GEJ only as likes of Reno Omokri and Fani- Kayode will want to present him. Hate him or like him Emir SLS has always said his mind at the risk of whatever office is holding. |
The question is where did Obasanjo get his own figure from? The Guardian article quoted the last figure provided by DMO. You can not throw up figures without stating the source, no matter how highly placed you are. This will only heat up the polity and misinform. |
There is need to differentiate between the organization position and personal view of an individual. It is clear that Odumakin has set himself up as a virulent critic of Buhari/ Osibanjo government from a long time ago. It is therefore not a surprise that he sees no good in any move made by the government. For a statement to be taken as the official stand of am organisation, the issue must have been discussed by the relevant organs of that organisation, which is not the case in this instance. There are other areas of governance where Osibanjo can still function effectively as VP, even when his principal decided to rejig government institution. It is the same set of critics that will still shout if efforts are not made to introduce fresh ideas as deemed necessary by the government. |
This should have been titled "Biafran man visit Kanu.... ". He can not be a Nigerian and go to him. He Kanu symbolizes there so called Biafra Republic and those who believe in the hype are the one that are subject to him and not true Nigerian. He shouldn'thave stopped at kneeling down only. He should have been rolling on the ground many meters before reaching his "Lord" |
