mrssam: Thank you very much. This is very helpful. Do we need to get a passport first to get the ECA done? Cos hubb doesnt have a passport yet and we need to priotize in order of need. International passports are not needed for ECAs. However it is needed for IELTS. All the best. Go to page 0 for a lot of helpful information. You can ask case specific questions here and people will attend to it. |

I wouldn't know whether the mail I sent was a coincidence or not, but I give all praise to Almighty Allah.
207 days post AOR!
I wish everyone else waiting for this good news a speedy PPR. At the bolded, desperate times call for desperate measures. Congratulations! |

mrssam: Congratulations! I thought the process is to write IELTS first. Can we do ECA before IELTS? Any pros and cons? The two are both important and the order doesn't matter. However, one might delay more than the other and you need to know how long they are valid for. ECAs are valid for 5 years while IELTS is valid for two. So if you do IELTS first, and your ECA takes a long time to come out (some have done theirs for one year), it reduces the time for the validity of your IELTS. So it is one's choice really. I am of the opinion that ECA should be done first since it takes longer in this our Nigeria. Both can be done concurrently as well i.e starting your ECA while you book for your IELTS say against Feb/March to give time for preparation. Both could just come in at the same time |

loudlumi: Guys, i need your help here. I just got a message in my CIC account saying that the Government of Ontario is considering me for the Provincial Nomination Program.
It also states that if i accept the Nomination i might not be eligible for federal skilled workers, please am i supposed to accept or decline?
Kindly help, My CRS is just over 435. Just like @dannio has advised, scores might drop soon and you might get an ITA. However, you have only 45 days (instead of the 60 Dannio mentioned) to respond as stated here and you can get general info here. There is also a thread on Nairaland that is exclusively for PNP and this is being discussed right now. In all, prepare to respond positively to the NOI but wait and see what happens with ITA before you apply. If the scores drop or look like dropping, hold on. But if close to the time of submission, CRS haven't reduced significantly, you can apply for the PNP. It is also a route to Canada. Just read as much as possible and equip yourself with all you need. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush. All the best with your decision |

nanaghano: I finally got my TRF report yesterday after not been able to check online since the results were posted. LSWR 8.5 8.0 7.0 7.5. I know I did way better in my writing. Imagine my shock when I saw a 7 Considering asking for a remark. Pls what is the time frame for the remark results? Just want to know to weigh my options. Thanks guys Like so many people have advised, going for a remark and waiting for 12 weeks just for three extra points that is not sure is not worth it at the end of it all. By the way, so many things might have happened in the pool by then and scores might have dropped. But if your ECA is pending because of the ASUU strike and might delay significantly and you are absolutely sure it is worth the re-mark, by all means, ask for a re-mark. Just know that this is only for three extra points. All the best |

Na wa. Any how, it's your lucky day....I'm in a Christian mood this night
First thing you need to know is if you are eligible for Express Entry - Federal Skilled Worker.
Visit the CIC website and to understand more about the Express Entry system. An excerpt from the page below:
Express Entry manages applications for three of our key economic immigration programs:
Federal Skilled Worker Program Federal Skilled Trades Program Canadian Experience Class If you’re eligible to immigrate under one of these federal immigration programs:
we’ll place you in a pool with others who are also eligible we’ll rank you and the others using several factors if you’re a top candidate, you’ll get an Invitation to Apply to a specific program if we invite you to apply, you can apply online for permanent residence
Find out what your score could be here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp
Once you determine that you can get a reasonable score, go to the British council website and register for the IELTS, also start your ECA (Education Credential Assessment). You have a choice of agencies to choose from. Once you have these two, jump into the pool and wait for ITA.
On the real though someone can't explain the process for you in one post. You will have to read the CIC website and this thread to understand the process fully so you don't make mistakes along the way. All the best. Next step is to go to page 0, which is where you should have started from the beginning anyway. Everything is spelt out there. Like people keep stressing, this is an important journey and you should know these things for yourself. We are all lucky that things have been simplified to aid people just starting off. Use it |

sthillz: That's long I cant remember exactly but the entire process took 3 months. From the transcript to the receipt of ECA document I think it also depends on how fast the school acts, some unis can be such a headache I used ETX for OAU and nothing happened until I got someone in exams and records to follow up for me. Everything was done in about a month because of my contact who told me when verification was needed and how payment should be done. ETX had no clue what was going on and I was the one that informed them that my verification had been done. ETX have varying timelines for different schools but you are better off having someone to follow up for you in exams and records. cc @sthillz @gaggle @hayor2014 |

stonecoldcafe: It is well o! I'm hoping the kind of crash that occurred April/May last year will happen even earlier this year. Fingers crossed I share your sentiments. Historically, that happened because there was increased number of candidates being invited and increased number of draws. Fingers crossed sha. I really pray it happens early on in the year |

stonecoldcafe: This is a fantastic timeline of faith and perseverance. I tap into it in Jesus name. Your 5 months wait until ITA humbled me. That is a month shy of half a year! It hits close to home cos my estimated CRS score is a little close to yours. So even though I aced ielts at first attempt, I have changed my name to Patience on this journey. I want to encourage everyone who didn't make ielts this time to chin up. Your race is different from the next man's race. Dont envy any man. Don't be down cast for too long and forget your goal. Run your own race diligently. Some people re-writing ielts will jump into that pool and land ITA the following week while others are patiently waiting for scores to crash.
So put a smile on your face. Dust those books again. Practice harder again and come back with testimony. Have a good weekend everyone I am all too familiar with the bolded. It will all definitely end in praise. Sometimes, I feel like I can identify with job. Lol |

Fanyeofori: Seniors, plz help provide answers to my Q
How long does it take for CIC to acknowledge receipt of application I.e d interval btw application submission and AOR?
I want to believe once one receives AOR dat is when one's application is locked in? Or is it locked on submission date?
Working on things so I don't lose 5 points to my birthday! 1. Your scores are locked in first after ITA, then after you submit your e-application. You can however change few details by raising CSE after submission. 2. Your scores are locked in once you receive your ITA. If there are changes, afterwards, you are advised to first recalculate your MEC for your eligibility and then recalculate your CRS to see if it did not drop below the minimum CRS for which you were invited. Age is however exempt. It is locked in at ITA and should your age drop before you submit your application, it will not affect your application. Scroll to the end of this page |

RuggedArab: Whats the hope for CRS score of 424 with this high ITA scores? There is hope. But you have to develop patience. A lot of it. Check out ways you can improve your scores. If you have maxed out your scores, check PNP routes. If that is too expensive or you don't like the idea, sit still and wait. We will be able to know more with subsequent draws being done. Factors that can help include 1. Increase in number of people being invited 2. Regular draws being done (every two weeks) or even fast track (one week interval) 3. Low number of people joining the pool with "high" scores So like Abraham, let us keep hoping against hope that the scores will drop |

mcstan18: Congratulations to all ITA recipients.
This one we've now had back-to-back 446 draws sha. It is well I believe it is because of the three week period. I believe it will drop in a two week period. Somehow, I am still hopeful for three draws in January. That will mean a back to back draw and will drop CRS. Prayer is that they also increase the number of people they invite and stop this their bad behaviour of only 2750 people. Some of us need those draws to drop like lead mehn... Algbenguze: These CIC people are beginning to vex me. They must be smoking something. So they make us wait 3 weeks only to still invite just 2750 people again even when they have higher targeted for 2018. It’s like this talk of CIC being unpredictable is getting into their head. Na by force to be unpredictable? SMH. It’s a little annoying though when some of us don nearly drown finish inside pool waiting for life jacket (ITA); whereas some others just enter pool and catch ITA same day even before their cloth wet. Issokay! Anyway, Congrats to all ITA recipients; and please, I’m not beefing o. Safe journey from here on! Bro, cool down. It will change and the draws will drop. They just want you to develop patience ni. Check James 1: 2-4. Lol. We plenty wey dey wait for the drop. |

Sunmisire: Good day E-fam, I will pls like to kindly seek clarification concerning the following ECA related matters;
1);has anyone gotten Wes evaluation from OAU and lasu how swiftly did they respond to WES's mail for verification!?
2) which body takes longer time WES or IQAS?
3) based on your wealth of experience guys. Which would you advice me to use. WES or IQAS?
I plan to evaluate as soon as NASU calls off, hopefully they do soon.
Thanks guys. 1. I evaluated OAU with WES and they responded swiftly to verification because I had someone following up for me. Transcript was 25k and verification was 3k. 2. This is debatable and it varies for different individuals. I personally think IQAS takes longer even though WES needs verification. If you can have someone on the inside that will push your verification or you went to school abroad, use WES. I hear they are also very reputable and can easily convert verification done in US to Canada and vice versa and even upgrade later. Personally, I used WES and it took 6 weeks hence my bias towards them. 3. Again, depends on you. IQAS doesn't do verification while WES does. Check 2 again and make your decision |

kunmi5: Yes, it can improve your score. My wife's IELTS gave me a score of 10 meanwhile she scored LSRW 5.5,7.5,5.5,6.5.
Even as low as 2 points can make you stay in the pool for months so every achievable points count. Sometimes early this year, CRS cutoff went as low as 435 and it has not gone down low till date only getting higher so you can imagine someone who had 434 since like April will still be in the pool for a year meanwhile the 435 is on the plane to canada already.
Also do Credential evaluation for her. Get all maximum points achievable. CRS cut off has been as low as 413 (May 31) and there has been 433 as recent as September 20. Check here to view the history of the CRS scores. cc @muslimity Reading cannot be over emphasised. Some people have been silent readers here and got their PPR without asking any question |

(2) Is a there a trend or pattern for schedule of draws monthly? Mcstan18 already answered your questions. 1) We expect that there will be a draw today. It is is usually between 9am and 2pm Canadian time. This will likely be the last for the year 2) Mostly done on Wednesdays fortnightly but there have been deviations. Some have been within one week of each other, some three weeks with the longest being about a month this year |

Low 430s, sub 430 or as low as it was May this year (circa 413). Those Indians don't seem to be on break at any point o, considering they are the ones with the highest percentage of PPR/COPR receipts. |

dtaminator: Not exactly, when applying with your spouse, all the points you loose when compared with single applicants can be earned by your spouse's language and education.
It actually evens out.
Neither single nor married applicants are favoured by CRS calculations. So as a married applicant, you only loose points if your spouse does not take language tests or get an ECA or both. If the spouse has a perfect scores and has a masters, the scores could actually increase. Apparently, the spouse can get a maximum of 10 for education and 20 for IELTS which could be more than the person lost for being married. |

Flaj: Decline the invitation. Once ita is issued your scores are locked. Decline and update your profile. . This is wrong. Changes occur all the time and IRCC recognises that which is why they have made accommodation for it. They lock in your scores during ITA and during E-APR. If the scores increase and you can provide documentation to back it, all well and good. If the scores reduce between ITA and E-APR and is still higher than the lowest CRS that you got the ITA for, you can still go ahead and apply. You should only decline the ITA if the recalculated scores do not meet both the MEC and CRS. The only exemption is for age which is the exemption to A11.2 accommodated for the in the public policy considerations like Glitteringstar provided and explained. @blessedchild12, HighBK has advised you correctly |

dtaminator: If it did not change in 2 weeks plus, it won't have. It's the case with some profiles. You know CIC's website has loads of technical issues. You don't change any thing, you just go in like you want to edit the DOB field, and re-submit, it would apply the new score immediately. Mine changed automatically with my birthday. The speed ehn... no be here. I didn't even get a mail to the effect. Like it has been said, it must be technical glitches. cochtrane: Meanwhile, fun fact. The majority express entry applicants come from India. Nigeria, on the other hand, is rather well represented. There was an increase of over 900% in applications from Nigeria from 2015 to 2016. We could be seeing an even bigger increase by the end of this year. And to think there were people from France too! Interesting stats there. Even US, UK and China have good representations. Those indians though... they just have high CRS with their Masters. I thought Naija already flooded this ish but we are still way behind. It is also interesting to note that at least 10% of those numbers have passed through this thread. Another 900% again in 2017 perhaps? |
