wow very interesting show. I could see that Lord Sugar was very reluctant to do any firing this week, I wonder why ? Lol, whether she had brought the other two (Jamie and Christopher) back with her, Sandeesh would still have been fired. LIke it was said, she does not have the ruthless, fighting spirit. Honesty my bum, lol, she was saying she's honest and does not backstab, let others say that of you. She was the weakest link. |

ola olabiy: You are RIGHT. I can't modify. Sorry! Ok, no prob. @ topic "transport fare" is a common mistake. Correct term should just be fare, or transport money. Any suggestions? |

ola olabiy: Hmmmmmmmmm (Odunnu's style)
For life.
Why do we say 'for life'.
E.g. I want the job for life.
What does it mean? . . . . Nothing. Yeah, nothing.
Use 'for good' and I hope Nairalanders know that 'for good' means 'pamanently'. "Pamanently"? Don't you mean, "permanently"? |

tpia@: quite true.
she did her homework well- with practice, her intonation will be perfect.
she reminds me of the ajebuta nigerian kids returning from abroad.
their pronunciation is most times. Lol, I think the only way she can guarantee perfect Yoruba intonation, is to live around Yorubas or in yorubaland for a long time! She only knows the "textbook" enunciations of the language, which is pardonable, considering she learnt her own Yoruba in the four walls of a US classroom! My aunt studied Yoruba in uni and she told us how hard it was, so that's why I found this so impressive. She makes it look easy but trust me, it's not. It's just that some college students take their courses so seriously, and when they treat their Yoruba elective with as much seriousness as their say, Physics or Biology courses, of course they'll get straight A's, and speak it like a pro, white or no white . |

Some pple act like they've never posted off-topic before. If one opens a topic for any passing issue I wonder how the whole place will be cluttered with topics that don't go beyond one or two pages. Meanwhile, X-Factor is once/twice a week, in between shows what will you discuss? Folks are even helping you keep this thread alive. |

tpia@: ^^sweetie, didnt i meet you on the other thread?
what's your definition of flawless?
i watched the video and felt for those nigerians raised abroad and what they go through when they start speaking the local languages in nigeria after they return home.
not knocking the girl's achievements- she tried.
there's a video i posted here sometime ago of two little toddlers [white] who sang in perfect yoruba. Lol, sure I said flawless. A naturally-taught Yoruba speaker and one who learned through "college": the difference is HIGH. Her Yoruba was perfect as in the content, but maybe not the delivery (accent). Our babe has the knowledge if not the skill of a home-grown Yoruba babe. I find no fault in her . |

aikuda: I understand why many people think this is not a digrace to Nigeria as a country. But I think I also understand why the poster consider this to be a digrace ( to Nigerians living in the small Utah community). Life is already hard for Nigerians abroad because people don't trust us. If any Nigerian is giving the benefit of the doubt, we should at least try to maintain our integrity. I am sure many other Nigerians who could have benefited from the generousity of the mormons but fail to get such support will consider this a disgrace. But if you live far away from this Utah community, you may also be right to say this is just another youthful indiscretion.
Nobody is perfect. At least Olu is trying hard to succeed. But we will miss the moral of the story if we only dwel on it being a disgrace or not to Nigeria. When you are in a foreign land, especially in a small community of that sort, what you do affect how poeple see you and your likes in that community. It is not suppose to be so, but that is how it is. This could happen even within Nigeria.
And please, stop playing the tribal jingle. I am sure the poster did not mean it to be a tribal bashing. I probably would have omitted that detail about Osun state though. But that is because I understand how some people are sensitive about tribal issues here on NL. there is no need for the reference to his state of origin. Nice one, but Olu is a human being first, then a Nigerian. And human beings will always make mistakes. I don't think he or any one will be considering nationality when they get tempted to break the law/misbehave. I think it's high time we put this patriotism thing to one side and just do good for our own sake and not for the sake of the country. Nigeria can take care of herself, haba. |

Mr~Cork: POINTERS:
Make sure he doesn't pressure you to become intimate before you are ready.
See if you naturally remember his birthday, your anniversary, and days that are important to him
Stay away from a guy who is overly controlling
One way of finding out if he really cares for you is to listen to him when he thinks you're not listening.
Make sure you feel comfortable being yourself in front of him
Make note if you compliment him even when he knows he's not looking his best. You may even prefer the "natural" him.
Notice if you tell your friends/family how great he is and if you are excited to introduce him to them.
Guys, Never ever look at the Nyansh on a first date, just glance (quick)
Hope this helps! obvious cut-n-paste. I wish guys will give their original advice to let the girls learn what to look out for when with a guy. I mean, I've tried to state what guys should look out for in a girl, so I need the other angle pls . |
Politics › Re: Nigerian Abroad Who Disgraced Compatriots (1): The Story Of Olu As A Case Study by ragdollz: 4:12pm On Nov 17, 2010 |
Any person who disgraces himself in a foreign country is disgracing no one but his self and his family, so forget about Nigeria. Yes it can stain the ground for future Nigerians wishing to school/live in that state but come on, let's not take things too far. |

Romance › Re: True Love? by ragdollz: 4:03pm On Nov 17, 2010 |
True love exists oo. But guys when a girl demands money so soon after meeting her, then pls that is not love. I know some guys who only ask girls out when they know she is comfortable and working. Girls also, if a guy asks for sex so soon after meeting him, beware. True love comes with time so no need to be too desperate for it. |
