why is NEPA not generating enough power,

What is the problem with NEPA.

See, it is the government that should generate power, and then private companies can market the power.
you can't sale the transformers, i wonder how many transformers will be on your street suppling you light, and how many wires will be across your street.

Does anyone know how how many watts of electricity Nigeria is producing and how many we need to produce.

A day in Nigeria is like a comedy, 12.01am you are killing mosquitoes in your 3 bedroom flat.

then finally you wake up by 5.30am in darkness, light your lantern or candle, rush with your bucket across the street to your neighours house to get water from the well.

Take your bath wear your shirt which you ironed in your friends house the weekend before.

Get to the bus stop at 6.30am and you see the crowd at the bus stop. you are not bordered anyway. You give yourself a target, I should be on one of the first 3 bus, that show up. By instinct you position yourself.

You normally pay =N=80 for this journey, a bus shows up the conductor shouting your destination this time shouting hold your =N=120.00 change, thinking people will ignore you see everybody rushing for the bus. You ignore, seconds later another bus shows up shouting the same. Well you fight your way into the bus and a minute after you are seated the conductor shouts your money . You hand him a =N=200 note, the conductor shouts, hold your change oh, I no get change oh, no say I no talk am. You try to explain yourself. He tells the driver to drop you. You tell him that he has not finished collecting money that he may get some change later. . Someone from the back, slim and lanky shout to the conductor wetin dey worry you self, everybody contributes the conductor is defeated on the argument. Conductor apologizes make una no vex, na my first trip be dis, I no get change. Someone shouts yeye conductor

A few minutes later you are in this traffic (holdup), the next thing someone in the bus brings up a gist about the news the previous night, you didn't have light so you have no idea, you pay attention, he doesn't have to get to the end of the information and everyother person contributes to the gist, start as an arguments support, against but at the end, everyone is saying the same thing and laughing.

Then you are getting close to your office, you shout to the conductor, bus stop Owa, my change, fortunately for the conductor their are two of you he owes change dropping at the same bus stop, with out even stopping the drive asks he done drop, finally you are out of the bus and the conductor hands you a =N=100 , a =N=50 note and a =N=10 note, tells you to give her if you are lucky =N=20 and drives away, you sort yourselves out and you are in front of your office.
this is an ideal morning before breakfast.

Well the rest is history.

What I think is that Nigerians are too forgetful. Hence it is easy for us to put the pains away quickly, then laugh at anything and are too hopeful that things will get better.

I have not been to a lot of country, but Nigeria is a place where it is easy to make someone happy, just by knocking at the door, you could put a real smile on someone face.

You have the right principles of someone that can save this country of ours that is worth dying for.

But I don't believe in execution of corrupt leaders. But if a leader commits murder then according to the law he should be punished.

Prisons I believe should be built, and everything that we consider was bought with Nigerians money should be confiscated.

Corrupt officials when found guilty should serve a ,minimum if 2 years depending on the amount of money we can prove the stole, so i will say less than less than = N=1.00 to- 1 million Naira, =N=1,000,001- =N=10,000,000 will spend 5 years. above 10,000,000 below =N=50,000,000 will spend 10 years and above =N=50,000 000 should spend 25years. I think that will be a enough time for them to repent and read the News papers.
This will include there dead bodies if they die in prison should be buried there.

So i think investing in state of the art prisons will do you some good.

Only arm robbers should be executed, those that are willing to inflict others with pains physically should go through the same ordeal.
It is just my opinion.

My fear about selling NEPA is that one of these politicans will buy it.

And milk the hell out of us. Who else can afford to buy NEPA. I read Forbes and Fortunes alot and

see how failing companies can be brought back to life, call it turn around, either when profits are falling or market share is being lost to competitors. Or the company is not performing.

Most times it is not about expertise, it is usually about competent people being in Management positions.

We have tested and trusted people, someone like Mrs. Dora Akunyili, if put in NEPA, believe me, in two years there will be a big difference.

It is about people that can make things change.

We can Have 24 hours light, it is achievable. It is about setting targets and meeting them.

Those Guys working in the UK will agree, that most times targets, teamwork is something that is inevitable when you want to achieve great results.

It keeps you focused on the goal. If the goal is 24 hours light everyone in NEPA should wake up in the morning singing a tune that implies that their should be 24 hours light and every action should be directed towards it.

Am more interested in change, if no one can handle the task, it should be giving to me. It is worth dying for.

More to that I don't think it is a very lucrative business, Big airline business in Nigeria are going down, Please advise pastor before
he makes a purchase of a plane, It is high risk and we don't competent staff in the airline industry.

There are a lot of unemployed doctors, building a hospital, a vocational school, that can train people in
skills and a soft loan service to support the trained people could be a better Idea that could transform Nigeria, if that is the intention of starting the business.

Someone mentioned if money in CBN is missing, don't even go there. If CBN is empty, we won't be told.

i remember in the olden days when Christianity came to Nigeria. The white Rev's did not only bring the Bible with them.

they Built us big schools and Hospitals, am sure some of your parents and grand parents who are educated were trained free of charge in these school and given birth to there too.

I am sure those of you in Nigeria are carried away by events of the day that you don't know that people are dying everyday in Nigeria of small illness both at home and in general hospitals because they don't have money to pay the bills.

If the church has so much money, billions of =N= and don't know what to do with it, the can build hospitals like the white guys did when the came here many years ago and give free medical service, if this happens infact I will start paying my tithe. For now I will give it directly to those that God inspires me to help.

The level of corruption and evil happening in Nigeria, simply tells you that the pastors are not doing a good job, the are not speaking up. They should leave business for businessmen and politics for politicans. Jesus, did not do any of those. People have lost the sense of value and the church will not help them find it.

Looking back the last time there where enough jobs in Nigeria was in the early 80's
I remember my uncle told me a story about when he finished from UNN back in the days.
He was offered 3 job each with cars. He had a choice This was in 1979.

When was the last time a graduate had this kind of lovely story to tell, mind you it wasn't the government that employed him. After working for 3 years he was offered an Associate member of the company. Remember he was just a fresh graduate.

A graduate selling recharge card is not employed please . The issue is that is no job in Nigeria to chose from, down here in the UK, there are job, even if they are not graduate roles, the are descent jobs.

The issue is the basics of economics, where politicans carry money in Ghana most go, steal money in broad day light, Moneys that could have been used to construct new roads, providing employment. Build new power station, providing employment. Build us a functioning system, that will give Nigerians the opportunity to discover themselves.

The internet has brought the world together, when are we going to tap into it, produce goods that can compete on the world stage.


We need a New Nigeria, where things work, where theirs light, good roads, where water runs, functioning hospitals, equipped schools where people take their education seriously, mobile phones networks that work, a justice system that functions, the police is truely your friend,
someone please judge my case.

Good prisons, clean ones where evil people and politicans could go to and have time to repent.

The Government should consider developing our energy sector.

If we had 24hours Light, God!, can you imagine how many Nigerians will be employed at least to run the energy sector effectively.

If we had all our crude Oil converted to Fuel and other by products In this country can you Imagine how jobs will be out there

for distributors, exporters, transporters, marketers of by products etc.

Most of the products in the market are not produced in Nigeria, even pencil, rulers, erasers. Guess it is cheaper to import them than produce them here, don't forget the Government even gets paid at the ports (NPA).

How many kids toys are made in Nigeria, no innovation, same old same old.

Nigeria has to wake up, This is the year 2006.

Things have gone digital.

And comeon Toys have got microchips in them.
Meanwhile who said we are not going to have light till 2056.

I believe if the government is committed to giving us Light they can do it in 2-5 years.

If it involves building new power station get on with it , we have got money to start it all over from scratch to finish, it will save us alot in the long run.

Nigeria is like a poor house hold, you don't stock away money and allow your house roof to lick, walls colaps

I think, Governments are not in power to make money. Reserve put away in foreign bank for other countries to use our money to develop there countries. Where did you think China got all the money to move there country forward.

Do we need to save money, I think no. And if our Leaders think they need time to discover our numerous problems that needs attention then they don't need to be in power, they should resign.

The national infrastructure is weak, the money should be used now that it has value to add value to the economy. New damps should be built, old roads repaired and New roads constructed, New refineries, Water plants, General hospitals equipped, University, secondary libraries stocked up etc.

The government should send the money to make Nigeria work, time is not on our side and the sooner the realize it the better for us. We are centuries behind, we have to find a way of catching up with countries like Ghana. Not waiting and musing over nothing.

Well am from Anambra state and when i was in Nigeria The governor was Nigie.
He was able to construct some roads, which I think was remarkable. Although they where not built for heavy vehicles thus some of them are already in bad shape.

Peter Obi is the Governor now, and I haven't heard anything, does someone have an idea what is happening .

What is the problem with Nigeria, you ask me again.
In terms of rating I think that the federal government has done well. I will give them 30% this is because they have been able to duly allocate funds to everyother level of governments, the federal roads are not in a very bad shape except for some few eastern and western states road on your was to the east. I see then as a group of people trying hard to make an impression, ofcourse it is my opinion.

The state has not been living up to expectation, they have been busy fighting godfathers and stealing the money met to use to develop there state. i have not travelled too much but apart from Lagos,Cross Rivers, I don't think any other State Governor, has contributed much to the Development of Nigeria as a whole. I will rate them in total 10% which I think is a give away.

The local government, does it exist. Their is nothing to say about them, they have contributed nothing to the development of this nation. I think this is where most of our problems lies. This institution was set up to be the closest to the people and contribute development at grass root level, developments that will affect the people directly. Because they have failed in their function the government as a whole becomes ineffective in contributing to the every people it is suppose to govern. I will rate them 0% which is fair.

In general their will be no visible development in Nigeria if the Local Government Chairmen and the State Governors refuse to contribute in activities that will benefit Nigeria and Nigerians as a whole.

Ideas are the currency of the future. Men over the world are taping deep in to this phenomenon, and I think you should start thinking of a way to free yourself. in this same country were you are complaining am sure some people are succeeding. Please forgive me if you don't like the way am putting it. The government has failed, I agree with you but the elites too have failed. If you ask me i will say our parents failed us.

They were not thinking and such did not create the company that will employ their children. Will you want your own children to face what you are facing now, my guess is no. How are things invented. inventions are just solution to problems. Now in Nigeria their are a lot of problems, why do you think the lesson business is booming- it is because people are failing Jamb and SSCE.

Now their is no job, this is an opportunity to make some cash. You can create a career school, were people learn some technical stuff, you just have to find a venue, probably a school which you can use in the evening, and find people with skills to teach, they should be the best in their given field. About money you can get the LGA to sponsor people, or even politician or companies. You never can tell what you can achieve till you start thinking and start acting.

The government is not their to create jobs, but to create a suitable environment for job to be created. Have they failed in their responsibility YES. Individuals create jobs, but how with ideas. Ideas rule the world, and ideas are everywhere. The packaging industry in Nigeria is unexplored. Gari packed the same old way, palm oil- you have to take your own bottle along to buy, do you like plantain chips- how is it packaged. Let me stop here for now. But people will pay abit more for quality especially Nigerians, you know we like style. Remember ice water, over thrown by pure water.

Money could be a problem but look for someone that has money kept in the bank, and sell your Idea, make him a share holder, sure everyone will be happy to own a company that has prospects if you know what you are doing. But don't rush off just yet. Do your research well and think of the market you want to satisfy.

What is the population of Nigeria now? but let imagine we are 100 million, if you can satisfy 1% of this population and make =N= 1 .00 profit from each customer, in a year your business would have made =N=1,000,000.00 profit.

Men just think, your idea doesn't have to be new, it just has to be better than What already exist.
