I laugh in swahili grin grin

Nairaland doesn't have upto 50,000 active users. I can bet bet anything on that.

20K to 25K is what is reasonable please.
Actually, my original comment said 20k. I only made it 50k as a more liberal estimate. cool

Fortunately for me, I have better things to do than spend all my time posting threads on Nairaland. cool

I primarily use Nairaland to stay updated on things happening in Nigeria. Otherwise, I'd be one of those who say stuff like "Gongola State" and "Bendel State."
WebmastersRe: Nairaland Hits 3 Million Topics.(ScreenShot) by ramalot(m): 6:58pm On Aug 03, 2016
Of the 3 million threads, approximately:

-2,900,000 = trash threads.

-90,000 = okay threads,

-10,000 = good threads.

Of the 1,628,740 members, approximately:

-50,000 = active members.

-Remaining 1,578,744 members = duplicate, barely active, dormant, banned and abandoned accounts.

EducationRe: I'm In 300 Level With Poor Grades: Advice Needed by ramalot(m): 1:40pm On Jul 26, 2016
Stark22:
I don't know where to begin but post this with a sad heart.
Before I started my course, I had this feeling that I wasn't meant to be in that department. I was encouraged by friends and family members to continue that I'll have interest later on. My results kept on getting bad but instead of it motivating me to work harder, it changed me entirely and I am doubting myself cos I know how good I was compared to what I keep seeing on my results.

Does fate really prevent progress or what?

300 level sitting on 1.1 something and I don't expect it to improve cos I think my mindset is really affecting it; meaning no matter the amount of reading I do, it won't really work.

I thought a lot of guys and they're doing pretty well, don't know what's wrong.

it's appalling when people who look up to you are doing better than you.

What if I switched departments back then? I believe things wouldn't have gotten to this stage.

I just need counselling from you guys.

it's really serious and I'm sad.

Even people who used me to brag back then would be shocked to find out about my current situation.
This here is your issue. Get rid of that mentality, and learn to hold YOURSELF accountable for your outcomes.

NOT fate, NOT "your enemies," but your lack of adequate academic input. Until you do that, your grades will suffer.

The key to academic success is to study the material with genuine interest in the subject matter. Good grades would come as a bonus.
If you're studying only to pass an exam, you're better off not being in school, as you'll forget it all the second you drop your pen anyway.

It is not about the addictive nature alone but about the original intentions of the creators. There is a new world order coming up and big brother is using every measure possible to control the hearts of humans from government policies, to food, to the music, to lifestyle. You may not be able to avoid all these but knowledge of it will help.
Why do you think at the time of intensity of #blacklivesmatter# more blackpeople are being killed in cold blood, who is filming it and why?

the average black man cannot think for himself and that was what someone like Tupac was trying to tell his people (blacks) and they ended up killing the man.

. Very soon the world won't be able to think for themselves then the one world government would take sit.

If you do not believe that the illuminati exists then everything I'm saying now won't even make sense to you. Good day
**Brace yourself for a long-ass response**

Oh poor innocent girl. She saw a few Youtube videos about the new world order conspiracy theory, and is now an expert on nefarious underworld plots.

That is highly ironic for someone speaking about "thinking for yourself." The question is ARE YOU?
Which part of anything you've just said did you come up with after careful observation, personal FACT finding and deliberation?
Yeah, that's what I thought. Two 5 minute Youtube videos made by some idiots earned you a degree on the matter.

Saying things like "original intention of the creators" (with ZERO evidence) only amounts to a case of chronic paranoia.
Until you can stand before a court of law and deliver an evidentiary case to that effect, you've only been a victim of gullibility.

"who is filming it and why?" <-- This might be the least intelligent thing I've heard in a long time, but I'll bite.
Who is filming? - Everyday pedestrians with cellphones (same damn way people now film everything else).
Why? - Because why the hell not? It's called witness evidence, lady.

Tupac died the same way every wannabe thug dies on the streets of Chicago. You live the lifestyle, you die by the lifestyle. Nothing more to it. This month so far, there has been a shooting in Chicago EVERY 1.6 hours. Some wounded, some killed. I bet all these shootings are also orchestrated by the mysterious "they." It has absolutely nothing to do with gang banging, drugs and the thug life.

The Illuminati? We're really going down this rabbit hole, aren't we?
Let me guess, when you see "the all seeing eye," "the pyramid" or the "square and compasses" you jump up and shout ILLUMINATI.

Every one of these symbols are masonic symbols. Do you know the difference between the Freemasons and the Illuminati?

Freemasonry isn't something whose existence is outside of the public eye. Hell, there is a big-ass masonic lodge in the downtown area about 2 miles from my house. It's the third oldest lodge in the world - i'ts been there since 1899. The Freemasons have recruitment ads on TV over here. I know a number of Freemasons personally - coworkers, clients etc.

That said, I don't know what they discuss in there, and neither do you. Anyone who claims they know the detailed activities of a secret society, and are themselves not members, are deluded.
The silly conspiracy theory of a new world order has been perpetuated before your parents were born, and will be perpetuated after your kids die of old age.

To this end, my advice to you is to preoccupy yourself with constructive things that actually help you. And things that are relevant to your society. Almost every new world order premise does not apply to the Nigerian society, as Nigeria has always been worse off than any end result of a new world order can bring. Lack of freedoms, communism and such.

Your mind is in the right place (searching for underlying truth), but searching in the wrong direction and wrong sources. Be inquisitive, but not gullible. Retrace your steps and focus on facts, not knee-jerk fear induced reactions, and you'll be golden. smiley

stupid game

through addiction to this game

Just like they used Beyonce to control the average back woman
It's not that you're a conspiracy theorist, but that you're not a very smart human being.

Such is the paradox of being a "conspiracy theorist." A belief that one has some privileged insight, then presenting unfounded theory as forceful fact. The problem isn't in the "questioning" of things. That in itself is great, and how every person should approach things.

However, when skepticism always begins as a conclusion, rather than an investigation into a notion, then it is self-destructive.

Let me guess, you also believe the earth is flat, huh? Or perhaps you haven't graduated to that level in the conspiracy theory realm.

EVERY damn game is addictive, if the individual submits himself to it. Such is the basic nature of it, NOT some sinister plot hatched in a dingy cave by the ever so elusive "them."

Let the highest bidder takes Messi, seems his time is over with Barcelona, he is angry that both the club and the Spanish government have disappointed him but why did he evade paying tax huh, does he think he lives in Argentina huh....He lives in a country where the rule of law is upheld unlike Nigeria where Saraki and other corrupt looters are still sitting in the National Assembly passing laws, how l wish we can have an organised system like Spain unlike the nonsense in Nigeria, if it was Spain people like Babangida, Atiku, Obasanjo, Jonathan and all his cronies, and all the politicians in Nigeria from 1979 till date will all be in kuje prison eating beans and garri but l am happy Buhari is doing his best to jail all the looters in Nigeria cool
All you've said is true.

HOWEVER, the real question is - to what extent are YOU ready to do your part (taxes) to have a working system?

A national "system" can not function effectively without taxes. For instance, I am taxed at a rate of 25% for a portion of my income, and 39% for another portion.

So for every $1,000 I earn, about 60% is taxed at 25% and about 40% taxed at 39%.
Therefore, $1,000 becomes $694 after taxes.

This is the reality of living within a system that works. NO ONE likes it, but it's a necessary evil.

That said, if the Nigerian Inland Revenue really starts to crack down on Nigerians like yourself to pay taxes on practically every dime, what would be your response?
PoliticsRe: Return Your Loot To Experience Peace – Buhari Tells Looters by ramalot(m): 8:38pm On Jul 06, 2016
TippyTop:
When is Bubu going to negotiate with Mrs Haliburton on how she plans to return our loot?

We were all sold a dummy.

How can a man who worked for Abacha (biggest looter to date) genuinely fight corruption?

Buhari should return all those loot he helped Abacha amass, until then he can shove his corruption fight up his anus.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

If Buhari sits by idly, while Nigeria's inherent reign of corruption continues, people would still be up in arms against his inaction on corruption.

So, the question I ask you is - what exactly do you want?

Option A: Buhari does NOTHING about corruption.
Option B: Buhari does SOMETHING about corruption.

This is a genuine question, as it intrigues me why anyone would be opposed to ANY kind of anti-corruption move.

note: I have zero stake in Nigerian partisan politics and bickering. In case you imagine I'm some "Buhari supporter" and give knee-jerk responses.

Science/TechnologyRe: Timothy Addigi Builds A Nigerian Tractor by ramalot(m): 9:53pm On Jul 01, 2016
What he needs is a team of actual professionals to put him on the right path.

This right here isn't a tractor. Perhaps it can better serve a different purpose on the farm, but certainly not as a tractor.

Also, he needs to put out the details on what makes it 100% Nigerian. Every single component from the engine to the body has to be designed and manufactured in Nigeria.
