UncleJudax: I believe the name of that subject in Nigerian education is called "Home Economics." Since you did it, you should know, right? Also, isn't it self-explanatory that if the parallel market is decommissioned, then the sole source becomes the official rate? Life is not always about what it is, but what it can and should be. |

Earthkumy: No, it is for those who are ignorant and shallow. Some dude sleeps and has a dream and says "the lord told me." What steaming pile of bull! If someone walked up to you and said "I had a vision and the lord told me to give me your car," what would be your response? Would you apply your current rhetoric, since you "have ears"? 1 Like |

This is perhaps the most m0ronic thread i've come across. There is hardly any place on earth that's significantly less safe than Nigeria. Fear mongering is for weak people who are too lazy to understand rational facts, and take the easy speculative route. "The West" is such a broad canvas to paint your baseless fear mongering brush across. If you believe you or anyone in Boko-haram ravaged Nigeria is any safer than myself or anyone in "the west," then you need to get your brain checked asap before the tumor spreads. There is nothing particularly unique about anything happening around the world today. There is no time in the history of mankind without war and strife, so any notion that any of it is "special" is ignorance. |

Olamitisoji: I have no interest in what y'all are arguing about, but I find it hilarious when I see one use the bold word above, in that context. It is a common word misuse among Africans, and is such a huge irony. When calling someone "dumb," and in the same breath displaying the said accusation. Dumb and Dump are two totally different words. -- Now, y'all can return to your regularly scheduled Nairaland tribal wars. |

holyFRED: Your comment made perfect sense until this portion I've quoted. What are you saying? Maybe I'm totally misunderstanding your point, but are you suggesting any health organization should go ahead and hire quack "doctors" and "nurses" who were unable to pass their medical training? There is NO reason at all, except in extreme cases of war and similar outbreaks, for such individuals to be allowed to practice in any form. They do not have jobs because they are unemployable. They are unfit to practice. They have not proven beyond reasonable doubt that they wouldn't make fatal medical errors. This is THE reason why they're not employable and jobless. It has nothing to do with rich vs poor with these medical staff. It is a case of competence vs incompetence, a very delicate balance of life and death. Remove sentiment whenever you approach such things. 3 Likes |

Politics / Re: We Can No Longer Pay N18,000 Minimum Wage – Governors by ramalot(m): 7:05am On Nov 20, 2015 |
Honestly, I am very VERY ashamed of Nigeria. The same nation where government officials are the highest paid in the world, where government houses are assigned billions of Naira for "renovation." The same government officials who budget millions of dollars for vehicles that could be sourced at a fraction of the budget. The same government where "newspaper allowances" for individual officials are over 6000% more than the minimum wage. When I hear people say things like "Nigeria is not developing because of colonial effects," I laugh at their naivete. Nigerian politicians are the most inhumane thieves on the planet. Colonialism has ZERO bearing on their actions. HOW DA HECK do you look at a full grown man, and pay him N18,000 a month. That's $90. Like that's not bad enough, they're talking about being unable to afford it. Are they INSANE? I read on nairaland last year that the Bayelsa state government was building a state house at a budget over 3 billion Naira. An edifice that would only accommodate the thieves to have meetings on how they can further impoverish the people, and subsequently keep them subservient to their political whims. BASTARDS. 1 Like 1 Share |

deramarks: Just a friendly advice for you. Regardless of where you're writing (formal or informal), try to write with proper spelling. It is neither cute nor in your best interest to present yourself like an illiterate. Also, it is a turn off to those you're seeking attention from. You're pretty, but that won't save you in the grand scheme of things. 1 Like |

From the comments here, Nigerians can be some of the most backward people, but constantly claim otherwise. WTF is wrong with a female entrepreneur investing in a club? Sit there in your face-me room, with 9 of your roommates drinking garri, and criticizing the financial decisions of others. Since you're so smart, I wonder what you're doing there. Mogidi: An 18 year old is an adult. If you can't comprehend that, then you need your head examined. Whether she marries a 19 year old or a 99 year becomes inconsequential at that threshold. Provided the marriage has her consent. She IS old enough to consent. |

How come none of you dumbasses has said "too long to read," "summary please" and other things idiots say when important information is presented? It turns out y'all have the time to read long posts after all. Just not intellectual ones. @topic If you're in a relationship or whatever, and have not seen a health status report, or ready to be a father. USE A MUDAFUKIN CONDOM. Perhaps, the woman was unruly. HOWEVER, the guy is DEFINITELY incompetent. How the hell do you start troubleshooting a printer without first checking the three most basic things? POWER SUPPLY, INK & PAPER. If you start your "troubleshooting" anywhere else, and even spend time on those BEFORE checking these, then yes, you're incompetent. That doesn't negate the fact that the lady was being a kunt, but call the spade what it is. |

lurther: I don't care about Nigerian politics or politicians, but what you're failing to see is this: CORRUPTION is THE reason why all the sectors you've mentioned have failed woefully over the decades. WITHOUT fixing corruption to a certain point, any attempts at other sectors IS a waste of time. What do you want to hear? Maybe something like "Buhari approves $1 billion for education reform"? What use is that if the funds would only get looted, just like they always have? Weed out the bad eggs, establish the right climate and clear repercussions, THEN invest funds in the serctor. 2 Likes |
