At what point in Nigerian history were human rights ever respected?

The current Nigerian administration recently refused to sign a world human rights violation treaty. Go figure!

This is the reason why Nigerians must support the anti corruption drive by the Buhari government

The UK PM is a typical British person with their condescending attitude, but there is some element of truth in his statement

There isn't an "element" of truth. There is ABSOLUTE truth in what he has said.

Nigeria IS corrupt at a mind-numbing rate. There is no way to sugar coat it. There is no silver lining to that cloud.

Your comment is the vilest, most twisted, most disgusting and most hateful I've read in recent past. Just look what hatred has done to you lot.

Since when did moving cattle around become a crime comparable to murder, rape, etc?? Just look at what you people have become.

I feel I throwing up. Tufiakwa!!

God forbid that I become like one of you.

Of course, no one will directly equate cattle herding with those crimes.

HOWEVER, there is something called analogy. The analogy used in my comment only highlights the flaw in your reasoning that "if something has been like that for a long time, then it's all good."

The point is herding cattle in Urban areas is unacceptable and should be curbed. Regardless of how long its been in practice.

As for the atrocities of the herdsmen, that's a different topic for those more informed about it. I don't live in Nigeria, and haven't followed that aspect of events, so I can't speak on it.

Far from "hate," more like common sense.

What is there to gain from demonising these people?? Where is our doctrine of love as Christians?? Haven't we been seeing such images in our cities since forever?? Why are you people making it sound like this is a new thing?? Haven't nomads been part and parcel of our society for decades??

.

That's like saying "haven't murder, rape and theft" been part and parcel of human existence as long as we can remember?

Because something has been a certain way for a long time doesn't make it acceptable.

I'm pissed off because I have another leech like yourself in Nigeria plagiarizing my content and earning off of it. He is currently being served legal papers and will be a very sorry sob shortly.

I'm pissed because the complacency toward issues of plagiarism and copyright by people in Nigeria is appalling, and people like yourself drive that.

Romance / Re: 10 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Indulge In Sex Before Marriage- Danceville by ramalot(m): 2:54am On Apr 23, 2016
What ignoramuses fail to understand is that bad sex IS a deal breaker in any romantic relationship. If the sex is terrible, the relationship WILL fall apart.

Many people stay in sexually frustrating marriages because they took the "moral high-ground." Then remain depressed, and channel their frustration in everyday life.

You don't have to go around banging everything that moves. But if your relationship has come to a "possible marriage" stage, then do yourselves a favor and have some sex. Once you do, you'll be in a better position to speak on your compatibility as a couple.

Other than that, you're just playing Russian roulette.

Family / Re: My Wife Is Seducing Men, Help by ramalot(m): 2:26am On Apr 09, 2016
lebroske:
Dear nairalanders, please i need your advice on what to do. My wife had been seducing men in the compound where we live lately. We are just newly married, less than a year now. We live in a story building and the windows are made in glasses. One could easily see through them especially in the night. So, what she does is each time she finishes taking her birth, she exposes her body knowing quit well that men around can see her through the window. She does it in the morning, during the day when she notices that i am not around and in the night.

The day i discovered, i confronted her, she said it was her body that it was not none of my business. Though we were quarreling before then. But i knew that was not the first time, she has been doing it before because each time i open the windows in the morning, i always notice that people(men) will just be looking towards my direction. I kept wondering what they were looking at until the day i discovered.

Dear nairalanders, what can i do to make her stop it. Because its getting out of hand. Now she hides and do it and she knows i am not happy with her now.
Great nairalanders, please i need your advice. Thank you

I know this is a serious marital issue, so I probably shouldn't make light of it. However, I couldn't help laughing at the bold part.

I can imagine them just scurrying around like zombies, waiting for a movie to start.

Delusion? Fantasy? I bet you must know me too well to make such myopic assertion. It is you who needs to invest more time in making sure that over bloated inferiority complex in you doesn't implode. Like I said earlier, I'm way better than the whites.

Think, it is not illegal yet.

To make an individual statement is one thing. To make a blanket statement is another.

When you say "we are way better than them," you're asserting that the collective black race is inherently better than "them."
This in itself is a factual fallacy. Why?
Name one independent black nation that can be described as self-sufficient, industrialized and prosperous. ONE.

We are entitled to our own opinions, but not to our own facts.

The FACT is, as a "collective," the black community has failed woefully, in the context of the world, and can't describe its collective self as "better" overall than ANY other race. Whether white, Asian, Arab, Hispanic or anything.

Does this mean each individual black person is less productive than any given person of another race? Absolutely not.

Context is everything.

That said, even saying "I'm way better than the whites" isn't a statement of self-confidence, but one of raw ignorance.

1. For that individual blanket statement to be valid, you would have to be better off economically, physically, ethically and intellectually than EVERY single white person. Every last one. Now, see how ignorant that sounds?

2. If a white person made the same statement, "I am way better than the blacks," you would label him a racist and the grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

Moral of the story: Focus on improving yourself as a person, and being the best version of yourself that you can be. Comparisons for self-validation are for the weak.

This is a very big lie. Many African communities wore clothes. For example Yoruba pple were very advanced even before white people came here.

No one said they were naked. Even the "naked tribes" had/have some elements of clothing. However, they typically had/have their breasts in view.

e.g the most recent "naked tribe" found in Nigeria have a tradition which suggests if their women wear full clothes, they will be punished by their fertility gods. However, the men typically wear some clothes.

It's not always a case of "lack," but traditional inclinations.

Hellloooo, u said New York? Well we are neither in New nor York. We are in Nigeria u know. I think it is the high time we stop referring to white men as standard for our life. Have u ever heard them taking u for granted there or using u as standard for their life? Kindly come off it, what isn't good is not good, no other name can u call it.

Your argument in itself is an irony.

Traditional Nigerians were chilling in their native outfits, tities hanging loose. The white man came and colonized. He told you to cover your tities and such.

Now, do you honestly think in "covering up," you're moving closer to your own tradition/ways or moving closer to your colonial master's?

You be the judge.

Image of traditional Ibo girls around the turn of the 20th century. And I bet the village town crier wasn't running around yelling "5 girls flaunt massive cleavage at the village square."
