Omodadi2: Misunderstand? capital NO. She intentionally pretended to have misunderstood cos esomeone in her position of coirse should know ho the system works. Hospital fee is diff from doctors', tests, etc. and ds I mentioned over and over again to her bt she was just.....
I am still waiting for Lagosniv to comment on this. Do VOs have different trainings, is there any rule/regulation guiding the system, just thinking aloud. LagosNIV or Abuja would not comment on individual cases of denial. what we should all remember is that apart from certain basic criteria.. they bring their own judgement/biase/sentiments into this too. Another VO would have no issue renewing while another would like Omodadi's case would deny the visa So Omodadi just brace up and reapply. I am no need changing any documents. Same VO can't interview you again. Congrats in advance |

Champ10n: Hey guys. Nice work here. I'll be traveling on an f1 visa soon. My school is in New York and resumes on the 18th but I'll be arriving on the 5th in JFK airport. I plan to take a trip to California from JFK on a short vacation of sorts (about 10 days) before returning to New York pending resumption date. Is this something I need to tell the officer even if he doesn't ask? No need to bother because you are entering via new York and later heading to California. All you need for now is your school information and accommodation maybe. Success in your studies |

shrekandfiona: Hi, i had same experience when my kids and I went for Easter hols in April.
Firstly fill your Florida address in your I-94. At POE tell them your destination is Disney Orlando but transiting through Newyork. Not an issue at all.
We also had 2 hotel reservations in Manhattan and Orlando. We stayed 2 days in NYC before leaving for Florida by road.
l Attached is a pics of their experience there. They had fun and the road trip was enjoyable. I remember this. Road trips abroad are usually fun... |

All this is pointing to one thing ; As the Yorubas will say "ona kan ko wo oja" Many roads lead to the market.
Just do the right thing either root you choose, declare, use your visas for the intended purposes and have your supporting documents.
On the other hand birth Tourism is a touchy matter nonetheless. |

izaga3: Good day house. So this happened today.
VO: why are u going to Georgia ? Me: To have our baby VO: where do you work? Me: I run a hotel owned by my family. VO: whats your budget? Me: A little above 14k dollars VO: Do you have evidence of those funds? Me: Yes, I have 25k dollars in my dom account ( hands him the statement). I also have access to over 60mil in a joint accnt with my dad. VO: where do u work? DW: I am a supervisor at the hotel. VO: Where did the money come from? Me: From my family business. Types into his computer and says I'm. Sorry but you do not qualify for a visa at this time.
Please guys where did we get it wrong?? From past experiences on this thread and about. I feel the narratives of the finances is the issue. The way those VOs think. Its more like you are "carrying" family money to go and have your baby in the US. In addition, the over 60mil you mentioned is not really yours. Just my take. If you are to re-apply make your outlook on the hotel business more professional. |

elohim24: thanks... I'm still weighing my options, DW was so down yesterday cuz she had to fly in from Lagos for the interview, please do you advise we reapply together or she reapply alone.. I can imagine. I feel either way alone or together the main thing is proving to the VO that you can really afford this. The VO red-flagged your income as not been enough. If you are the one sponsoring the trip then i advise you add up all your income including those from your other streams of income. And make sure you carry evidence to back it up or let your wife have them and can explain i asked further that's if she is applying alone. Because the VO would notice the increase in what you declared in the first application and this. Another thing is, if your wife earns more per month let her be the sponsor as it were and you both pull resources together, and above all pray for a VO that would listen. It would also do well to have have a clear budget sheet and if you have the funds for the trip already in your account or t-bills or an investment, take the certificate take it along, so if they call for it you can show them you have enough for this trip already so your salary is not even threatened. When should you re-apply i leave that to your discretion and particularly your wife; ensure she is over the disappointment of the initial denail and ready to go in again bold and confident to get the visa. Remember they really want to know if you can afford this without resorting to public funds as @Twoods said and also without emptying all you have as it were. Cheers bro and do encourage your wife. Bon Chance |

elohim24: good morning all, I went for the interview in abj with DW and were denied.
transcript VO: Good morning husband and wife both of us: good morning VO: when did you get married both: last year Dec VO: are you currently pregnant DW: yes VO: do you plan to have your baby in US DW: Yes VO: have you traveled outside Nigeria b4 DW: NO ME: Yes VO: where have you been to ? ME: Cameroon and Chad VO: to do what? Me: military operations VO: where do you work me : Nigeria Immigration service VO: how much do you earn me: blah VO: is that your major source of income Me: yeah DW: I'm a blah blah VO: how much do your earn DW: blah blah VO: sorry, you're not qualified at this time, this booklet will explain more... thank you both: thank you..
to be candid, rejection rate was so high... people's documents were not even assessed... I can't pinpoint what went wrong apart from maybe my basic pay was kinda low but I have other source of income which I was not even asked about... DW is due by March ending, should we reapply, or she reapply alone.? veterans, come in and advise oooo @elohim24 I remember the first time you came in here, i hope you did as advised. The issue is almost obviously about your income, the question about the monthly income actually covers all sources of income. If you want to re-apply add it all up together and be sure to carry proof of these other sources of income. because if i am a VO seeing a mere increase in monthly earning within a few days without concrete proof is a no no. So be confident and let the VO know u didnt include all your income sources and you have bank statements etc to back your claims Success at your next try |

My Take on all these is that - Nairaland is an open forum and unfortunately nothing you and I can do about that. Most wont be here it it was a closed or secret Forum
2. Agents are there because people will use them and nothing you and I can do about it. Despite the info here many still use agents for many reasons. Nothing you and I can do about their decision.
3. If because of agents and ghost readers and all sorts we all stop sharing info that brought this thread this far, then..... i dont know ooo
4. Price increase like CC is painful but ..... Sometimes i believe it would help remembwr that this thread grww because pwople explored and shared. everyone can go back to work. And thats what we should encourage. Its optional in the long run. A lake becomes stall a river remains fresh - Selah
5. This thread has made many see the possibility of birthing in US and doing it right. If we are not tactful like Wikipedia we might just soon drive down this thread.
6. Lets respond rather than react which is what is happening. Rather than lay blames lets encourage each other to make further research and explore and encourage to share if you wanna.
Mamas and papas have shared in the past even down to all last prices.. It shouldnt be a crime now
@Justwise many are getting lost and frustrated as to the purpose of this thread. As the Moderator there is need to be tactful. If we want people to do findings there is a way to go about it. If not na so so PMs we go dey see. Please think about it.

valeria: Thanks to everyone for the useful information provided here.
I have a B1/B2 visa and intend to travel in March to birth my LO. I have just a quick question; has anyone traveled to New York via London (Virgin)? I read online that transit of pregnant women at Heathrow airport is often hectic with immigration issues for someone without a UK transit visa. I contacted the airline and they seem not to have any info on transit or immigration.
I will be traveling at 35 weeks and want to be sure this route will not cause issues for me.
Thank you Trannsit or Valid U.K Visa is required if you need to leave the airport but if na just to stop over and catch the next flight to the USA i dont think you need one. |

favouredmum: Thanks.
I actually got correspondence from 2 hospitals in Chicago before travelling. Kindly pick ur fone and keep calling. It took me about a month to do this. It's really sad when people don't wanna do any research at all but wanna be soon fed. I couldn't have gone thru Chicago without having a correspondence. I actually had two which I showed at POE. (St Bernards, mercy hospital and mount sinia will give correspondence. Jst be persistent and keep calling till you get what you want).
As for someone who asked for accommodation, pls sit with Airbnb and check. I met some mums on nairaland and we were able to get a 3 bedroom apartment for a good deal in the heart of town thru Airbnb. This took almost 6 weeks before we got what we wanted. You can also contact the hosts once you see what you like for further discount because the long stay actually pays Dem.
This trip costs a lot of money and we should be willing to invest time into what we wanna put millions into. You said it perfectly. The LEAST we can do for such huge spend is to take time to get adequate info. And we have soo much info here and all over the place. |
