PoliticsRecovered Loot Not Enough To Revive Economy- Lai Mohammed by rapistomenka(op): 2:31pm On Sep 02, 2016
The Federal Government has explained that the looted fund recovered so far is a far cry from what the country needs to revive the economy. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said this on Friday when he appeared on a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja. According to him, the amount of money recovered is always being made public.

Lai Mohammed His words: “What we have recovered and if my record is right is about N78 billion, and $3 million. We have been able to block various accounts in which about $9 billion is found but those are not money available to us because we are still in court over them. “The government spends N165 billion every month to pay federal civil servants, even what has been so far recovered will not even pay 50 per cent of the salaries in a month.’’ Mohammed assured Nigerians that every penny recovered will be judiciously spent and nobody could re-loot what had been recovered under the administration.

The minister further explained that Nigerians should understand that what had been recovered was so little compared to what the people needed on a continuous basis. On budget release, he recalled that the Federal Ministry of Finance released N400 billion for capital projects, mostly on roads, railway, and power. “N400 billion seems a lot, but you must also understand that for three or four years contractors were not paid.
“So, when we paid this money to contractors, they also use part of it to settle their own debt, they use part of it to recall laid off staff. “But the truth of the matter is that many of them have been paid, they are yet to mobilise to site and they cannot do so until the rains are over,” he added. Mohammed said that what the government owed the contractors was about N2 trillion. (NAN)

The Nigerian Army said Wednesday that its troops of 222 Battalion, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army involved in the field training exercise of Operation Crocodile Smile continued conducting patrols and raids in Delta State on Wednesday and arrested five suspected militants.

The Army in a statement said “Today (Wednesday), the troops carried out patrols through Edje-Ewu-Opere waterside and Araya communities in Ughelli South and Isoko South Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Delta State.

The above photo shows suspects arrested and paraded by the Army, these suspects include an old woman, another female along with other males. One could wonder if they were really militants.

PoliticsRe: APC Must Win Ondo Governorship Election – Tinubu by rapistomenka(op):
Old criminal...

This is a sign that APC is a foreign party in Ondo State where everything that concern the State in APC is being decided at Lagos.

The party will lose outrightly like the previous ones.
PoliticsAPC Must Win Ondo Governorship Election – Tinubu by rapistomenka(op): 11:23am On Sep 01, 2016
Ahead of the upcoming Ondo State Governorship election, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu has declared that the party “must win” the poll.
In a statement he released yesterday, the former Lagos State governor urged aspirants to work towards a common goal, stressing that they all know what is at stake.

Tinubu said all those participating in the party’s Saturday’s primary election stood the chance of winning, but that a “champion” would emerge in the end and they are expected to rally round the winner.

The statement reads in part, “The APC must win the coming election and restore democracy and the virtues of public service to the seat of governance in the state. This is what the people desire and deserve. They have waited patiently. Now is the time to answer their call. This is our duty as a party and as people who care about their fellow man.

“The APC must go into the governorship as united in focus and purpose. All else is secondary to this objective. The journey to reestablishing governance for the people and for posterity begins with the primary this Saturday.

“Our mission is too important and too humane to allow ourselves to be divided or sidetracked. We must remember what is truly at stake.

“The process leading up to the primary has been robust and energetic. We have the good fortune of having numerous renown and able party members seek the nomination. This has led to keen competition. During such tight competition, tensions always mount and often-harsh things are spoken.

“But this back and forth, this committed dialogue, is an integral part of the democratic process. And it is this process that we have enshrined and shall cherish in this party.”

Buhari needs to reset his mind towards the SS and SE ,he has to understand that there is a rational opposition in these regions which he needs to engage through diplomacy.

Buhari has to stop marginalising the SE !! undecided
PoliticsBREAKING: Militant Group Blows Up Agip Pipeline In Imo by rapistomenka(op): 10:51am On Sep 01, 2016
Three months after it attacked its first target, Niger Delta Red Squad (RDRS), the new militant group operating in the oil bearing communities of Ohaji/Egbema council area of Imo State, said it has blown another facility belonging to Agip Oil Company at Umuonei in Awara community.

The group, which announced the attack in a Facebook posting, warned Agip personnel to keep away from the pipeline, as anybody found within the vicinity would be beheaded.

The group in the post by one General Don Wannie, claimed it struck because it has nothing to show for the operations of Agip, and other oil companies in their community since the creation of Imo State. “We have seen enough marginalisation and it has to be stopped,” he said.

The militant group said it was forced to resume hostility as a result of the continued criminal neglect of the oil-bearing communities by oil companies.

“We are not happy with Agip because they have continued to neglect our communities. Since they have refused to change, we have equally resumed the attack on their pipelines and we are going to blow until they do the right thing. “

The group, which vowed to chase out the oil company from Ohaji/Egbema council area said if the state government failed to compel the oil company to do the right thing, it would have no option but to also attack the offices of the Imo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (ISOPADEC), the Niger Delta Development Community (NDDC) among others in the state.

It also threatened to attack Governor Rochas Okorocha’s Ogboko village if government deployed any military to their community.

“To Imo State government and their security agencies, we ask you to give our people what rightfully belong to them. You think the best thing you can do is to plan how to deploy security men to our area.

No problem… we are assuring you that no security agent will come to any part of Awarra and go without being beheaded,” it threatened.

After it hit a facility operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company in Awarra, Ohaji/Egbema local council area of Imo State in June, the group vowed to inflict maximum damage to oil facilities, if Ohaji/Egbema communities were not given due benefits from their oil resource.

Following the initial attack, the group said: “Oil companies started operation in our community since 1957, but up till date, we have nothing to show as benefit. For Imo State government, we will make sure you make no further gains from Ohaji/Egbema. “Since God’s creation, neither Imo State government nor oil companies have remembered us. We have been neglected and abandoned. No electricity. No tarred roads. No drinking water. No hospital. No youth employment or empowerment. We shall destroy everything in Imo State that was built with our oil money.”

Neither the state government nor the police was willing to confirm the attack, at press time.

PoliticsAnti-Grazing: Herdsmen’s Lawyer Disagrees With Fayose by rapistomenka(op): 4:54pm On Aug 31, 2016
Ado-Ekiti – The Legal Adviser to the Ekiti State chapter of the Jamu Nate Fulbe Association of Nigeria, an umbrella body for herdsmen based in Ekiti State, Mr. Umar Imam, has said it was wrong for Governor Ayodele Fayose to charge erring member of the association with terrorism for carrying light weapons.

Imam said that herdsmen who carried light weapons such as cutlasses, catapult, arrows and knives within the time stipulated by the new law cannot be charged with terrorism. Fayose Imam added that acting contrary in the guise of any state law will negate the Anti-Terrorism Law as contained in the Constitution. Fayose had on Monday signed the “Prohibition of cattle and other Ruminants Grazing in Ekiti Bill, 2016 to Law, which prevented free grazing of cattle in the state and carrying of firearms by herdsmen as well restriction of grazing period to between 7am and 6pm.

The law prescribed six months jail term without option of fine to any herdsman, who circumvents the law. Speaking with Vanguard in Ado Ekiti yesterday on the contentious issue, Imam said the Anti-Terrorism Law of the Federation stated clearly what constituted an infringement of the law and that carrying of lesser arms does not constitute offence under the provision. Also, the Seriki of the Association in Ekiti, Alhaji Ahmadu Mahmoud, appealed to Governor Fayose to amend the new law, so that his members can be allowed to carry lesser arms to ward off attacks from robbers. Mahmoud, who praised Fayose over the time allotted for grazing in the law, added that outright banning of night movement will make their jobs difficult and create more confusion than being expected. According to the Legal Adviser to the Ekiti State chapter of the Jamu Nate Fulbe Association,

“The law of the federation on terrorism is very clear and no one can be charged for terrorism for carrying lesser arms like cutlasses, catapults and knives during the grazing period as contained in Ekiti new law. “I have made it in my submission during the public hearing on the bill in the Ekiti state House of Assembly that these Fulani herdsmen used to use these lesser weapons for certain purposes that can make grazing easier. “I also told them that movement at night while relocating from one place to another was to ensure that they don’t wreak havoc on the people during the day while relocating to other towns. I expected the state government to have taken care of these in the new law rather than total banning. “What the state government ought to have done is to allow whoever wants to relocate at night to take permit from a certain government’s authority or inform their Seriki, but banning them from moving at night may not help the situation, it will make their jobs difficult”, Imam said.

In the words of the Seriki of the Association in Ekiti, “We agree with the Governor on the grazing period of between 7am and 6pm, but we should be allowed to carry lesser arms and relocate at night. “How can somebody who wants to carry his cattle numbering hundreds from Ekiti to places like Lokoja, Ibadan or Ilorin moves during the day? These places are densely populated and it will create traffic congestion and confusion everywhere. The government must look into all these”, he stated.

The Iyase of Udo Kingdom, Patrick Igbinidu, has placed curse on his subjects who fails to vote for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Godwin Obaseki, in the September 10 governorship poll in Edo.

The monarch placed this curse yesterday when he received Obaseki and members of his campaign team at the palace, in Udo, near Benin, in Ovia South West local government area of Benin.

According to the monarch, “The ancestors of the land await those who will vote against the governorship candidate of the APC, Mr Godwin Obaseki.

“You all have seen it, this is who the Udo people should support, who said he won’t vote for him, he should wait for the ancestors. The entire Udo kingdom should vote for him and anyone who gives his votes to another person is on his own.

“You all should support him because he is the person who Oshiomhole, our benefactor, have chosen to succeed him.”

Igbinidu said his position development strides of the incumbent Governor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, especially as regards the dualisation of the road leading to the kingdom, Siloko road.

It will be recalled that the same monarch, had told the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Osagie Ize-Iyamu, that the kingdom awaits right person who will help the Oba develope the land, when he(Ize-Iyamu) visited him during a campaign rally in the area.

PoliticsNigerians Elected Us To Do Impossible Things –APC by rapistomenka(op): 5:44pm On Aug 30, 2016
The Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress, Segun Oni, has said the party was elected to do the impossible.

He, however, said Nigerians should be patient with the APC-led Buhari administration because it could only do its best by contributing it’s quota to national development.

Oni said this in an interview with newsmen at the party secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.

He argued that the economic difficulties currently being experienced by Nigerians would have been worse if the Peoples Democratic Party had returned to power.

The former governor of Ekiti State also accused unnamed politicians, whom he described as “money bags,” of sponsoring criminals under the guise of herdsmen to destabilise the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

According to him, even though Nigerians have every right to expect “magic” from the APC, the reality on ground is that there is no magic wand to make Nigeria’s problems disappear overnight.

He said, “The economy was traumatised by a government whose only agenda was to win another round (of elections). Therefore, everything that they could put into trying to win a second round, even bastardising the economy, was done and we are all here.

“The reality on ground is that, if the previous government were (still) in power by now, Nigeria would have virtually packed up, maybe many of us would have become refugees by now.

“Yes, we are elected to do the impossible; we will do our best. I just want to plead that people should give us more realistic expectations.”
