Buhari's group have confirmed that Chibok girls is a scam aimed at frustrating Goodluck Jonathan. Buhari is as confused as his supporters ![]() |
ABUJA – The Bring Back Our Girls BBOG movement, perhaps got what they did not bargain for, Tuesday, as they clashed with some pro-Buhari protesters in Abuja who insisted that the advocacy to rescue the 218 abducted Chibok school girls was a scam sponsored to frustrate the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. The altercation ensued as the #BBOG forced their way through a first police barricade around the Ministry of Justice, and tried to head closer to the presidential villa. As they trudged on, the pro-Buhari group, #WithBuhariWeStand stood in their way chanting “Buhari is a man of peace, stop frustrating him”. Led by one Idris King, the pro-Buhari group said, “We are for peace. Buhari is a man of peace”. The BBOG which had oftentime restated its commitment to meaningfully engage the presidency without resort to violence, however ignored the other group. Co-leader of the BBOG, Aisha Yesufu, said although the group had given three options to the president, which are the use of peaceful means, military option or a combination of the two in rescuing the girls, Buhari appeared to have added a fourth option which is doing nothing to get the girls back. She said; “All we are saying is #BringBackOurGirls. There is a fourth option which entails doing nothing, which seems like government’s option. That we will not accepted”. There was confusion on Sunday in the Ketu area of Lagos State after some Hausa youths seized a chemist, identified as Emmanuel PUNCH Metro learnt that Emmanuel would have been lynched but for the intervention of policemen from the Ketu Police Division who quickly brought the situation under control. A source told our correspondent that the victim had written a blasphemous word on a magazine, which triggered the anger of the youths. The source said the police had already taken custody of the victim to save his life. He added that the Hausa youths mobilised to destroy the victim’s shop, but were prevented by the policemen, who were deployed in the area. He said, “It happened around 9pm on Sunday. The issue could have led to a bloody fight between Christians and Muslims in Ketu, but for the police. “What happened was that the man wrote something on a magazine which the Hausa youths said was blasphemous. When other Hausa men saw it, they became angry and seized him. “Some of his friends tried to rescue him and that almost started a fight. The police were alerted and they responded quickly and doused the rising tension.” The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that the situation was under control. She also confirmed that Emmanuel was in police custody. She said, “The Lagos State Police Command averted what could have been a religious crisis between the Christian community and the Hausa Muslim community due to the timely intervention of its operatives. “At about 9.05pm, the Ketu division received a distress call that a boy was about to be lynched by some youths because he wrote blasphemous words on their magazine. “The boy was rescued and kept in protective custody. His chemist shop was secured from destruction. Everywhere is calm as the police have intensified patrol in the area after successfully calming frayed nerves.” http://punchng.com/hausa-youths-attack-lagos-chemist-blasphemy/ |

Nigerians are hungry hence don't care about all this useless program The change should begin with APC and Buhari ![]() Lai Mohammed is a disgrace to fatherhood |
The Nigerian government says it is set to launch the “Change Begins With Me’’ campaign, “to entrench the values of accountability, integrity and positive attitudinal change” in Nigerians. The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, and the Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Garba Abari, made this known in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja. They said the campaign was aimed at educating and enlightening Nigerians to appreciate the key values needed for national development. The programme would be launched on Thursday in Abuja, they said. “About three to five years back now, the role models in the society were people of doubtful character,” Mr. Mohammed. “Money was worshipped; nobody cared where and how one got the money; these are the misplaced values that we are tackling now.” He said the campaign would involve every Nigerian and address the shortcomings of every profession and jobs. Mr. Mohammed said the campaign would also feature slogans that could be easily assimilated by the people. “We believe that what is wrong with Nigeria is not limited to the elite, the political class and the civil service; if we want that change, therefore, it must address all the issues and target every strata of the society.’’ Mr. Mohammed said the campaign was not a replication of the “War Against Indiscipline’’ which the Buhari-led military administration initiated in 1983, but said it would achieve the same goal using a different means. “In 1983, they used what they had to achieve what they wanted, which was to correct the decadence in society, tackle corruption and impunity. “However, in the area of enforcement, people alleged infractions and intimidation. “But here, we are going to use the media to appeal to people. We are going to use persuasion, instead of coercion and intimidation. “Our various platforms will be radio, television, print media, bill boards, social media and the like. “Part of our campaign will also be concerts which will be sponsored by people in the private sector.’’ The minister, therefore, solicited the support of the private sector towards the success of the campaign. Mr. Mohammed said the National Orientation Agency (NOA) would be the flagship body driving the campaign, to ensure that it gets to the grassroots. In a separate interview, the NOA director-general said the programme was also aimed at fighting corruption and encouraging peaceful co-existence in the country. He said it was regrettable that corruption had done a lot of damage to every sphere of the country. “The Fight against corruption must not begin with the government; people must be in the vanguard of fighting corruption. “Our schools, roads, hospitals should have been better than what they are now, but corruption has stalled their development. “What would you say about a woman who uses chemical to forcefully ripen banana and sell it to the public; what about a woman who would use a padded `mudu’ to sell rice. “A petrol attendant who would claim not to have change so that the buyer would leave the change; all these are corruption,’’ Mr. Abari said. He noted that lecturers in tertiary institutions also engaged in corrupt practices by selling handouts to students, while lazy students also cut corners by selling their bodies and giving money to pass examinations. According to him, the change must start at the individual level and inevitably extend to the society and country at large. “Nobody is happy with the way corruption has relegated the country to its present situation. “We, the citizens, must take a second hard look at what we did wrong that we will not do tomorrow. “The change must start with the people in the little things they do in their families, place of work and responsibilities,’’ Mr. Abari said. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/209892-nigeria-launch-change-begins-campaign.html?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |

Urhobo militant group, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate (NDGJM), on Sunday advised residents around major oil and gas facilities across the Niger Delta to evacuate immediately to avoid human casualties in its next attacks. According to a statement signed by its spokesman, Aldo Agbalaja, the group said the warning became necessary since most of the marked facilities in all the states in the region had been rigged with explosives waiting for detonation. “One more time, we are warning and at the same time appealing to residents around major oil and gas facilities across our region to please evacuate immediately. “This warning has become necessary because of the fact that we do not wish any of our people, for whom we have taken up this crusade, to become casualties of our campaign. “All the marked facilities in all the states have been rigged with explosives at strategic points, waiting to be detonated. “We are only being slowed down because of the presence of those still living close by. ”, it added http://www.thebiafraherald.co/2016/09/nigeria-all-oil-facilities-rigged-with.html?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |
