Properties5 Nigerian Cities With The Most Expensive Apartment Rentage by Rapmoney(op): 12:33am On Jun 20, 2016
As a property manager and one who has visited many Nigerian cities, I did a research/survey and came out with the result of the top 5 cities in Nigeria where one would need to belt himself/herself very well before renting an apartment! This survey was carried out with the accommodation costs of houses/apartments found in condusive environments or areas characterized with the usual facilities that are found in an average African city. By this, this survey did not cover rural areas (villages), please.

1) ABUJA: In terms of the cost of renting an apartment, be it flat, self-con or bed-sitter, Abuja (the main city), is a place where you really need to eat 'bellefull' before doing that. This can really reduce your savings to a frustrating amount! It's in places like Maitama that you would see a one-bedroom flat that goes for 1million Naira!!! Any landlord/house agent who puts up same house for that amount in Benin-City is surely an 'Enemy of Progress' grin Are we buying the house? huh It's because of this that made many residents of Abuja to move to surburbs or outskirts of the city.

2) LAGOS: I discovered that most of the mini-flats in Lagos mainland are above 300k a year. You can get this same apartment, even with better facilities and in a more serene environment, at half the price, in Akure. When I saw the bed-sitter a friend of mine paid for at Oregun for 10k monthly, I wept!!!

3) WARRI: This would have come after Port-Harcourt but it seems as if some house owners here think everyone is scooping crude oil from the ground since it's called the 'Oil City'. Sometimes, mini-flats go for as high as 18k monthly!!! 3 bedroom flats in good environments can cost 480k-500k per year; sometimes, 600k.

4) PORT-HARCOURT: Rentage in PH City is not too different from what's obtainable in Warri.

5) ENUGU: Sometimes, a bed-sitter that's so small to an extent where you won't even have enough space to stretch your hands in the morning without knocking off things in your room, could go for as high as 100k-110k per year! Even places like Obiagu and Artisan!!! The rentage cost of 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom flats in places like Loma Linda/Independence Layout/GRA, can make an unemployed man die before his time!!! wink

Well, you pointed out "not to have much friends", quite a good advice. As much as i want to totally agree with u, i have to point out this- A man who is naturally a sagiune would always have many friends, that's God's make_up of him. Sangiunes don't achieve their purposes? Then, u said most of d guys u knew back then who kept many friends didn't end well but you didn't tell us if the guys u knew back then who never kept much friends ended well. Good job though!
I was looking at the possiblities of having unnecessary people in your life when you keep too many friends. A few good friends are better than too many friends flocking around...some would wreck havoc in your life. As regard your second criticism, I am not saying all the people who kept few friends ended well but what I emphasized on was the fact that majority of the people I knew who kept many friends and were very popular didn't end well...mind you, not all of them. There's always an exception in most cases! cool

Op you're on point, the only flaw I have with your write-up is that, being a christian, the number one thing that I think will make one not discover their purpose in life, is not having a relationship with their creator, God. For me, that is the most important and necessary
Do you realize not everyone is a Christian? huh Thanks though; that would be corrected wink

Education6 Things That Hinder You From Discovering Your Purpose In Life by Rapmoney(op):
I thought about the appropriate section to post this for some time before settling for the Education Section. My reason being that I consider the post educative cool

As we grow older, we tend to learn new and different things everyday! The only man that doesn't learn is one who is dead!!! Although, it is pertinent to note also that most young people today rarely succumb to learning some simple and basic principles in life due to unnecessary pride! I am a REALIST and I believe in expressing things just the way I see them instead of trying to 'window-dress' issues or live on the notion that 'things ought to be this or that way'.

The following are some of the things that can contribute as hindrance towards achieving your purpose in life; especially, as a young man:

1) Having no relationship with the Supreme Being: This doesn't amount to attending church alone. You should, at least be humanly fair and act as your Creator would love to see you act

2) Strictly relying on your course of study even with no progress: There's a Nigerian proverb that says: 'You don't stand in one particular place to watch masquerades dance'. If it happens that your course of study isn't giving you the kind of fulfilment you wish in life, you can learn new skills and develop your talents. Don't be too proud to learn; even if it is a vocational skill! Find your purpose in life!!! cheesy

3) Depending too much on your certificate: It should have downed on you now that it was much easier to secure a job in Nigeria 10 years ago than 5 years ago. It is also worthy to note that it was much easier to secure a job 5 years ago than now!!! This goes a long way to show that today, your degree doesn't worth more than the paper the result is printed on! If you are an undergraduate still having that outdated dream that once you leave school, you would definitely get a well-paying job based on your degree, you are living in a fool's paradise! You need to work extra hard to discover your purpose in life.

4) Keeping numerous and unncessary friends: A man that has a destination does not shake hands with everyone he sees on the road. It is better to keep a few circle of friends. A vehicle overloaded with people hardly move fast! Most of the very popular guys I knew back in school who kept many friends didn't end well. Too many unnecessary friends can distract you from achieving your goals and discover your purpose. Anyone whose lifestyle drags you back or doesn't inspire you is not suppose to be your friend.

5) Involving yourself in multiple dating (For guys): Chasing women up and down is surely one hindrance to discovering your purpose! You will hardly have enough to save because you would want to spend while trying to impress. Don't be deceived! Dating is not free! It comes with responsibilities. Date one woman and tolerate the responsibilities! grin Before you think of lavishing money on women, think of that farm you have planned to start or that studio you planned to set up!

6) Unnecessarily depending on your parents when you are grown: If you are too lazy to hustle and fend for yourself even when you are grown, you may never discover your purpose in life. That comfort zone is not the final bus-stop! In fact, still eating from your parents when you are grown and qualified and fit to work can attract curses to your life; if you are 25 and you are still asking your parents for money to cut your hair, you surely doesn't deserve the blessings of the Creator and you are not yet ready to discover your purpose; should you be expecting blessings? huh

Thanks to the few friends I kept while serving in Ilorin-South, Kwara State. It's been 8 years now and I must say, you guys inspired me!!! cheesy
