Gd day Gurus. I saw a tokunbo Toyota Avensis car with a mileage of 233,000 miles . The car looks very neat and water is still coming out from d exhaust pot in the morning. Does this show that the engine is still in good condition despite the high mileage.

Same experience with them. Their online valuation for d car was about N450k. Took it to their office & they spent almost one hour scanning my car & test driving it. After everything, they told me they will buy it for N200k. I just left them without uttering a word. I later sold dat same car in the open market for N700k.

Did you read the manual at all, they said sae 5w20 is recommended. They didn't say you can't use other ones, but the caveat emptor is there.

Even on your engine oil cover, what you will still see is 5w20.

But you can use what ever you like, my Nissan Almera manual also says 15k km or 9k miles to use an oil before changing it, I just laughed.

If you are using 20w50 for an engine with timing belt, you may not feel the repercussions but if it's timing chain, you go hear am

It should be consuming fuel more than ur regular sedans. It's a 3.7litre engine for crying out loud. Its also SUV. Beyond d issue of d catalyst, I doubt if there's much u can do to check d high fuel consumption. If fuel consumption is a serious concern to u, sell it off & get a smaller car. There has to be a trade off somehow.

I guess his Mechanic played a fast one on him. The 2 in the AZ Gazzuz newly posted looks like the normal 2 whereas the 2 in that one previously posted looks altered.
If u have to go with ur mechanic to buy Engine, it's advisable u go first and make inquiries and confirm about 3 to 5 engines. At times, the sellers will also tell u truth and offer u good engines just because they want to make u their customer.
After that, u can then go with ur Mechanic to confirm and choose from among those ones u saw earlier.
This will reduce the possibility of ur mechanic taking advantage of u.

Yes. SHe can tell d customer she will not enter d car. She has d right to deliver the product in an open place to protect herself. You also do not have to enter into any building to deliver ur product. U can always tell ur customer to take delivery outside d building in an open place. MVAA has offices in the local Governments now. So visit d nearest local Govt to u & ask them. They will provide u with all d vehicle particulars you require including d CMR. Congratulations

There is no best place. It can be at Owode, it can be in ur Street or along the road, it might be through your mechanic or through a reference. The only thing there is for u to be careful and conduct your due diligence. Your due diligence will include ensuring dat it's not stolen, dat d owner is not selling it bc of problems etc.
