oogalabs2: It may be nice to start small. Even 1 acre is a good idea. It is your interest and passion that will sustain you in farming. This is especially the case for young people/ new graduates. You may not be able to save 1 million to buy land at this time, end even if you do, you'll need another million to plant and take care of the farm. So starting big may not be the best.
Start small but with passion and in few years with some luck things will be looking up. thank you Sir.. am looking for just an acre/hectare .. will expand as i learn the work flow. i sure dont have "Huge" capital. But passion, YES. i read 1 ha will give 143 trees and 4000-6000 litres yearly. Is that a reality? |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Are There Jobs? If Yes, Where Are They? by RealityShot: 5:10pm On Feb 28, 2018 |
Ugosample: Exactly!
At last someone has seen what I am seeing
The ones downplaying salaried work don't know what they are saying.
working salaried jobs for 2-4 years before eventually setting up your thing is the way to go in my opinion, because that period will teach you discipline, as you are under someone, and you will learn a lot too.
Saving within those 4 years and branching out to start your thing will more likely be successful after the training you must have got working under people
Why do you think Igbo boys are largely serious with their business and successful?
That's because they served under someone for 7 years plus, going under strict discipline (and beating too if they f**k up lol ) and training under the boss.
That's why when they get their "settlement" ; they don't joke with it.
just my thoughts Any ways CONFIRMED FACTS! |

oogalabs2: My experience is that trying to buy land where urban development have reached is an invitation to fraud and disaster . So going a bit further and farther is better. People generally are not interested in lands they consider as “too far” When I purchased 6 years ago, people were not interested in the area. They considered the place as too far. Now farms are springing up around me and the per acre price around although still cheap, is over 300% of what I bought for. i see... i am looking at a village with existing oil mills and market. Haven't time to go see an agent there shaa.. Still gathering Cap. please, like how much is realistic per arce or hectre. (i see N40k per acre on NL: true?) |

coputa: Buying and selling of Treasury bills is for retirees and not for a young vibrant youth with a lot of potentials in him waiting to be harnessed. In treasury bills trading you can only make 10% of your investment 90 days or 365 days, that's not encouraging enough uconsidering the present economic reality. that includes potential to loose money right? you know what inssurance means? t-bills is the inssurance. you need one or you will go bck to square zero before long |

nonut: There are jobs, but can you humble yourself to work? thats the point O! too many "proud" people in Nigeria! they would rather eat from their parent's pocket than earn a certain amount considered 'stipend' ; while some jobs are "beneath their standards"! which smelling standard? They continue to beg money and live on parents while searching for "big job" in their room! others take a job and have the "stupidity" to ask their boss 'how much are you paying me self, that you are asking me to do that?' nough said. Its not lack of jobs thats our problem jarre..ITS TOO MUCH PRIDE! NIGERIANS ARE TOO PROUD! |

strong766: bro...let me tell u the truth. I strongly believe that if a job seeker ask friends, family members and relations for help on their required capital, they will get it if only they are really serious abt going into business.... I am starting mine as soon as possible. Enough is enough...money must be made in anyways possible not necessarily by going to school and getting a job....even when the job is not coming and even when it comes in a low pay form, some people will still be satisfied working for 2-5 years earning their penny instead of fasttracking their money money objectives by starting up a business or resigning and doing something else. "fast tracking" with other people's money.. Lmao! you never see chomttin! come back here and tell us how much they give you because you are "really serious!" My lil bro was given 1Mil; He lost it in less than a year! you must SERVE to learn any business! THATS WHAT HAPPENS AT A J.O.B. SERVING. (or Boy in igbo) |

oogalabs2: The gap is much. I can’t be specific at the moment but I’ll look for the data; the difference between our local production and consumption. The gap creates opportunities for young people who are willing to struggle thru the 4-5 years of investing in planting and caring for the palm trees before harvesting and production begins Ever since i read a report about 2 years ago and saw Nigeria has been importing over 1.5 million Tons of palm oil as at 2008; i have been looking to start palm oil trade. its 2years now and i know that we are lacking in supply due largely to urban migration and lack of managed plantations. i want to plant and wait 4 years to harvest but am still gathering capital and looking for cheap farmland in the south east. i have to keep working otherwise i would opt for the western lands i have heard about on nairaland. any help on land acquisition is welcome. Thank you |
