DeRuggedProf: On NSE, a low p/e normally indicate a company is on life support.... It intact estimates the remaining year for the management to finally finish milking it..... do you think that foreign investors will use your standard or their international standards for their stock picks? in the first week of this january, there was a tip here to buy Fidelity bank, do you know what its P/e was then and what it is now that it is slowing down? when you see a new idea.. Try it before you shoot the messenger. only sentiment makes investors ignore P/e. Is sentiment the best tool for investing in your opinion? ANYWAYS, I AM NO GURU. I WAS JUST SHARING MY FAIR VALUE STYLE.. may be its a bomb..in the Nig.SE Thanks for making me know that much.. sleep mode re-activated. |

@RabbiDoracle: A low P/E can indicate either that a company may currently be undervalued or that the company is doing exceptionally well relative to its past trends. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/price-earningsratio.aspi used it for FAIR VALUE determination .. Not timeframe i meant dividends by "earnings" in my post. You know the technical name. I was thought the easy way. i see a lot of people asking for fair value calculation like its rocket science.. So i chose to share my simple method. take or leave it. Oti-to |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by RealityShot: 4:26am On Jan 28, 2018 |
The one Attribute Indicator.
P/E ratio.
this means Price divided by earnings ratio.
it tells you how long it will take to earn 100% profit or at least get your money back at the current price and earning rates.
it is used to determine "fair value" very easily.
How?
simple divide the price by the earnings. What you get is the Return of Investment time.
if you like it, then thats the stocks fair value to you.
(NOTE: what is fair to you may not be same for another.)
if you think its quite or too low; then multiply the earnings by the timeframe (years) you think is fair. The result is the fair value.
example: a stock's price is 10N; earnings is 1N. P/E ratio is 10. That means 10 yrs to full RoI.
that might be unfair. Perhaps you think 5 yrs is better RoI period. Then you multiply earnings 1N by 5yrs..ans 5N. Thats the fair value.
this is easy P/E ratio fair value estimation.
DD advised. P.S: the market does pricing due to demand & supply; fair value just helps u check your greed |

awesomeJ: Dear sir, You may definitely have a business with Inter switch if you carried out the transaction through the Quicktellar platform, which is likely. In January 2017, I also transferred a somewhat huge sum on an ATM from my Stanbic to my Zenith account. The response from the machine after the transaction was something like "...issuer or switch inoperative" or so. The former account was debited, but the latter wasn't credited. Long story short, it was by contacting Interswitch that I got to find that the fund was successfully transferred to Zenith, but their own network issue at the time caused the hang. They also followed up with the transaction by sending E-mails and reminder E-mails to Zenith, copying me each time. Eventually after about 84 hours after my very first complaint to Stanbic, the zenith guys credited my account. Reach Interswitch on +234 700 906 5000. You can also use Google to get their other contacts and E-mail address. baba done come! Hurray! |

Lifeofpolice1: you serve 8 years and you were settled with 1m or N500000 after 8 solid years and you call that one capital Bros there's nothing like freedom bro wow! freedom to do what? when you look for work for 5 solid years and up managing a 20k job from which you can not save a dime, you will have realised the true meaning of FREEDOM. AT LEAST with 1M you can rent a shop 180k and put goods with 300k. Then put 500k in treasury bills (so you cant touch it easily); collect 50k upfront intrest and use it to pay yourself for the first few months while your business grows. mind you the guy might still be 23-25yrs old. So he can go to OPEN Univ school. |

I do not have the cash yet but I have faith I will be able to find a way out. Please I need only serious and reasonable suggestions.

PharmAlfred: This is the time to probably increase your position size in UBA and Access Bank. It is going to be a bang very soon.
Ensure you do your DD too.
There is actually a strong interest by investors in Access Bank. It has done more volume than FBNH and UBA and has equally received more cash inflow than both banks in the last 6 trading days. The sell pressure has just been huge.
Profit taking might start tomorrow. Traders are likely not going to be patient until Friday. u are sure nodding "i told you so" righ' now huh! |

All these bull stories have started!!!
in 2008 i bought 4000 units @10+ if ETI bank. (N44000+)
in 2009 they did reverse share split (1 for 3) i had only 1333 units in the end.
in 2017 they did another reserve split (1 for 20!) now i have 275 units only valued at N19..
Total value is about N5500 now!
BEWARE OF THE STOCK MARKET; Price is not everything... it is moving is not a buy criteria!
