Nimakor: Good one Bissi. So hypothetically, if a transfer of less that €2k attracts a 1% commission, wouldnt it be better to transfer the cash...say €4.5k twice? Exactly. That's what he meant by "So when you want to initiate your transfer, transfer half of the amount the first day and the remaining half the second day so that you only pay 0.5% commission." Nice one guys! |

Eke40seven: I took a closer look at the post, as I said earlier it wasn't quoted or in italics to show that it was part of the sentence but in another language but yeah, my bad all the same. I planned applying for the school until I realised after my findings that its is not highly ranked even in Germany. Not even within the first 200! In addition, the feedback I got from an international student didn't encourage me either. For webometrics, forget it at your peril. There have been accredited scientific and statistical research which confirmed that their rankings highly correlates with those of the other 3 universally accepted rankings, especially for European schools. The rankings may not be too accurate as to Judge which school is best when looking at comparable universities of the same status but it gives a very good idea about how good or bad a school is and have been a basis for choosing schools by prospective students. Think of tennis rankings. It will be an upset if a world number 50 beats no 1. Although it happens but the odds are against the former coming out victorious. However it could go either way if world number 1 slugs it out against no. 2. So you see! If going to Rhine Waal is based on may be location, economic and financial consideration then I will consider it but if it is based on purely academic reason, my brother going there will not cross my mind, that one na downgrading. I see you are finding it difficult admitting to an obvious reality that a Nigerian university, Unilag was ranked higher than your hallowed school in Germany. Its tough! I can imagine. However, the school I chose and accepted in was far better than Rhine Waal, rank wise. Since they are in the same country I know I made the right choice. p.s: It ranked higher than Unilag. Icing on the cake! Which school did u apply to bro?? |

bissiejoe: I had my interview on the 13th of june, though I had already seen my bank account details before going for the interview, Old mama just told me to fund the account and sent the confirmation to the embassy. I didn't fund the account until last week and got confirmation from DB on friday. I sent the confirmation to the embassy immediately on friday and yesterday I got a response that the confirmation have been sent to the alien authority in germany for final consent. This morning, I was mailed by the embassy to come with three month travel insurance and my passport. For those who had been asking questions about funding before interview, take a clue from this. Let the winter applicants testimonies roll on.... Congrats bro.. Thank God. But please, what exactly is the travel insurance like? |

phucado: Men and Brethren, Women and Sisters. You guyz have been helpful in this thread and I appreciate the exchange of ideas here. If Nigerians can be helpful of each other in other areas of life, our society will be much much better. Having said this, I wanna advise the prospective #teamwinter students to contact friends, nigerians and africans who are already in your prospective schools using facebook, linkedin etc. It will help you a lot and give u a lot of first hand information about your school and the city. The guy who helped me to pay my uni-assist fees and mailed me the receipt is a student of my school in germany. I just transfered the naira equivalent into his account in Nigeria. He saved the the #4000 telex charges for transfering money. I've not met him in real life but he has assisted me in so many ways. Told me about accomodation and the easiest way to go about it. He calls me if there's any development. That's how God has used him to be of help to me. Even a guy in the second school. I found most of them through linkedin. I've sampled opinions of different students in the schools and it has helped shapen and sharpen my mind on expectations and decision making. I also urge you guyz to do so. Search the dudes and divas out. U over make sense. But for me, e don tey wey I dey find person wey dey school wey I wan go. (Universität Bremen)...I don search tire. Abeg, guys if anyone comes across such a fellow, please holler at your boy... I'm forever loyal |
