Regarding the battle against COVID-19 in Nigeria, it seems the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, is not buying the reports which NCDC is feeding Nigerians with.

Mr Yahaya Bello in more than two occasions has refused to grant his co-operation to NCDC officials to commence search for COVID-19 infected individuals in Kogi State.

–Previously, Mr Bello on his facebook page titled a post, “Kogi State will not manufacture fake COVID-19 index case to make up your (NCDC) list.

–In another post he alleged that he’s under pressure to declare COVID-19 index case from the territory of Kogi State.

–Last three day ago, the officials of NCDC took to their heels after he demanded that they should be teste and quarantined for 14 days before they are allowed to work in the state.


Here are some of his words regarding this issue:

“When we had outbreak of Lassa Fever and Cholera, did NCDC send any Team to support the State? We have suddenly shifted priority because the new product is COVID-19. Our Economy has gone bad because of the panic created by you. You have been marketing this virus; let’s demarket it now. You will proceed on 14 days isolation before you commence your assignment here.

“We will take your samples for test if necessary. NCDC, why are we doing this to ourselves? Why have you blinded us from other vital issues? Malaria, Cholera, Boko Haram, Lassa Fever, etc that is killing more people. What have you used to cure those discharged? What are you hiding? Why are you not telling the world?”
