Funmi where do you come up with these absurd social situations.

What man in a high social strata marries a woman who can't cater to herself before marriage in the first place? Secondly if he's so obvious with looking good in the eyes of society why would he rather "die" then "Behind" her up? I'm not following your reasoning here. Most guys in high places CARE about looking good and the woman near them to look good as well. Infact what woman wouldnt want to look good if she knows her husband is a "very important person", doesnt make any sense.

Seems like you are looking for any reason to justify a wife stealing her husband's money behind his back. Tell her to go back to school and find another job then if that's the case sef.

Woen can't keep exepcting to be treated as equal if they don't ACT like they are.
It's not absurd. Some guys that are high in the social ladder are dorks especially those that are in the academia. They wear one pair of suit 5 days a week and basically see fashion as a trivial issue. What if the wife follows a different school of thought? Besides, don't tell me you haven't seen guys up there that married a "nobody" as wife. It's usually more difficult the other way round tho.

@ oyb

your post is the best so far here - they want to eat everything - we are independent, but he must 'take care' of me? bollocks!
I don't know why it's such a big problem for some men to accept that it's proper for both genders to have equal rights. Is it that difficult to accept?

if anyone feels that in these times, such arcchaic traditions as sole breadwinner should be the norm, then they have no business getting all riled up about other archaic traditions like polygamy
Imagine!!! somebody is still talking polygamy in 2008. Are you an alien?

Then, they are illiterate themselves. If an illiterate man can become rich, woman wey nor go school can also do it.
Very very difficult in a patriarchal society like Nigeria.

This is a good example of what a stealing wife can do

“She closed out John's retirement and college-savings accounts, forged his name on two checks totaling almost $25,000, bought a home in Fargo, N.D., and sold their home in Maplewood — all without his knowledge or consent, prosecutor Laura Rosenthal said."

All of this happend while her man was busy serving the country in Iraq.
Na she send him go Iraq? He's even lucky another man is not servicing her while he was there because that's the case of most soldiers in Iraq.

7 children and my own sold provisions. People just like making excuses for laziness.
There are also cases where the man has a very high social status but will rather die than provide money to the "working" wife who makes money like a commoner enough to fit into the creme de la creme society he introduced het to. Do you suggest she takes a 2nd job or sleeps around to measure up with those women in her new social class since her husband is either stingy or too nerdy to care about fashion and stuff?

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if 80% of the women advocating this criminal behavior are just thieves by mouth.I should have known better than to enter a discourse with a sparsely-educated she-goat.

She doesnt need to ask all the time, its courtesy to let me know she has taken it and what it went for.
Will you return the same "courtesy" to her whenever you want to spend that same money you earned since she owns half of it? Don't tell me you don't need to call her and report it whenever you want to buy friends drinks.

All this yeye legal right to be there - doesn't the man have a legal right to explore the rear ending if he wishes? Or did the marital agreement exclude that part?
Yes; Initially most men mixed up the rights in marriage with rights to consensual sex but it has been resolved now and we now know our boundaries when it comes to sex.

Is it now right for the man to be wearing his wife's thong since what is hers is his? Undecided

what if the wife is a spendthrift who will spend $100's on frivolities? Armed robbers with wedding rings; simple!
If you want to,

which authority? Ok did she also give me the authoritydoormat to use her as a the day she signed the dotted lines? If that's the case then she can continue stealing. I'll just keep putting the money somewhere safe until she can't reach it again.
That one cannot be found anywhere in the marriage dictionary. We are not in 1748, we are in 2008.

Women shld stop stealing. Your husband's money is urs up until you poke illegally into his purse to take what he didnt earmark for you. These women must not beat their kids when they steal from them.
Did you say "illegally"? She's there legally abeg. You gave her the authority to your account the day you signed the dotted lines.
Romance › Re: Can You Steal From A Spouse? by RedHotChic(op): 6:41pm On Jun 30, 2008
I stil don't understand why your husband's money is yours but your money is not your child's.
It's the law. You only owe your child support till a certain age(18 in most cases/21 in some states) but after that you may or may not put his/her name in your will. That one is at your own discretion but you cannot write a will and exclude your spouses name from it because she/he automatically inherits your belongings unless there is either a prenup or agreement before the will was drawn.

As for working females/wives STEALING money, now that is the one I have a problem with.
Even some working wives may have similar problem depending on her income. If a man cannot provide for his family and his wife is not able either but HE has the money, i strongly recommend the wife to use any means possible besides killing him to get the money even if she has to drug his ass.

Romance › Re: Can You Steal From A Spouse? by RedHotChic(op): 6:25pm On Jun 30, 2008
If you're going to take money, I say ask first

as for "asking everytime", why are you even asking him "everytime" in the first. You no get job?

So much for the "independent generation"
Some women especially in Nigeria are stay at home moms. They do the same amount of job their husband does only that theirs has no financial remuneration. in some cases, the men in their lives use their financial power to dominate them, abuse them or wicked them. How do you continue asking a man for money to buy this and that all the time when he'll eventually provide about 70% of what is needed and ask you to "manage"? If he doesn't have it, that is a ifferent story but if he has the money nko?

Same goes for some men that find themselves in similar predicament, their wives abuse, taunt and reduce their ego to zero before they can give them $1.

Can't she just feel comfortable and just get the money in the bank if she really needs it?

Lawwd, if a wife must beg her husband for money everyminute, then I really do have a lot to learn.

And it is a joint account. . so it's both yours. . so what's wrong about taking what's yours?

what is the difference? are your bodies not part of the 'marital laws' so its ok to forcefully or deceitfully deprive a man of his money, but not wrong for the man to force his wife to have sex? You better not open your mouth to mention double standards again
Sex is an exceptional case because of the mental devastation that is attached to it. You can't murder your wife and call it suicide, after all it's your body?

oooh lawd, I can't stand chauvinists.
Romance › Re: Can You Steal From A Spouse? by RedHotChic(op): 5:48pm On Jun 30, 2008
If what is his is yours, then you must BOTH agree before you have access to his funds - or will you say because your body is your hubby's that he can force you to have sex anytime he wants because you 'belong to each other'??

A few moments from now, people will start talking about marital rape, well this is a simple case of marital ROBBERY.
I think that one is different. I really think so because it's just wrong to force your wife to have sex with you. It's called rape.
