It IS STEALING - how does it belong to you under 'marital law' na you work for d money??
Marital law= what is yours is now mine and what is mine is now yours. marriage is not about trading booty and love alone, it also involves material wealth too.

My girlfriend stole from me before, and that was the end of the relationship.
That one is different but whenever you sign a marriage certificate, she will not be able to steal from you again even if she wants to.

she did not steal, she only tapped out from what is hers
I knew it, some people really think they are stealing from their wives or husbands.

Romance › Can You Steal From A Spouse? by RedHotChic(op): 5:20pm On Jun 30, 2008
My aunt's friend had a very rich husband in Nigeria and I remember vividly how she tells us that she constantly steal money from him to boost the family's financial budget since he's very stingy when it comes to giving his non working spouse money but will be quick to splash big money on his numerous mistresses. That story got me thinking that she may be ignorant of what is hers and what is not since she thinks she's stealing from him. He refused to give her the safe combination but she got it somehow(does it matter how she got it?).

Question: Can you really steal from your spouse since it's community property under marital laws?

Was she right in what she was doing? Did her actions qualify as stealing since you can't steal from yourself?.

No rape victim ever gets over their ordeal.
Hmmm, will you give up your only son to the cops if he confessed to you that he raped a girl 5 years ago but was never found since the raped girl is probably going through a devastating ordeal?

Man Convicted of Paying to Have Daughter-In-Law Killed
Friday, June 27, 2008

ATLANTA — A Mississippi businessman born in India was convicted Thursday of plotting to have his black daughter-in-law killed weeks after she wed his son because, prosecutors said, he believed she would bring down the family stock.

Prosecutors will seek the death penalty against Chiman Rai, 68, on charges that he masterminded the murder of Sparkle Michelle Rai. The 22-year-old was found strangled with a vacuum cord and stabbed more than a dozen times weeks after her March 2000 wedding to Rai's son, Ricky Rai.

Jurors, who reached the verdict on the second day of deliberations, found Chiman Rai guilty on seven charges, including felony murder and burglary.

"I'm feeling very much relieved," said Bennet Reid, Sparkle's father, as he blinked through tears. "I feel justice has been served for my granddaughter and for my family. My daughter's not going to come back, but she's smiling now."

Next is the sentencing phase, when the same jury will decide whether Rai should die for his crimes.

Attorneys presented starkly contrasting images of Rai during the eight-day trial.

Prosecutors sought to portray him as a racist who was so upset that Ricky married and fathered a child with Sparkle that he shelled out $10,000 to have her killed. They called Rai's ex-cellmate in the Fulton County Jail to testify that Rai called black people "scum." They also pointed to statements from Ricky Rai, who told investigators after the killing that his father was "a little racist."

Defense attorneys depicted Rai as a hardworking businessman who wanted his son to marry an Indian woman, but was far from a racist. They paraded a steady stream of Rai's black customers and fellow inmates before the jury, and each described Rai as tolerant and compassionate.

Rai's attorneys also reminded the jury that their client taught math at Alcorn State University, a historically black college in Mississippi, and later ran a supermarket in a predominantly black area in Jackson. He also helped buy a hotel in Louisville, Ky., where he made Ricky the general manager in 1998.

Ricky hired Sparkle Reid, an Atlanta native, as a clerk. They started dating in October 1998 and two months later she was pregnant with their daughter Analla. The relationship ended when Sparkle was found dead in her apartment on April 26, 2000. Her 7-month-old daughter was nearby, unharmed.

Investigators found little evidence and the case remained unsolved until two witnesses came forward in 2004, a breakthrough investigators said helped them connect the killing to Chiman Rai.

Prosecutors said Rai teamed up with Willie Fred Evans and Herbert Green to serve as middlemen for the hit squad, and both testified in court they arranged the killing. Both have pleaded guilty to lesser charges and cooperated with prosecutors. They are expected to receive probation.

Prosecutors say the money was passed to brothers Cleveland and Carl Clark and that Cleveland, who also faces the death penalty, carried out the killing.

Defense attorneys contend Evans and Green lied to cover up their role in the killing, which they say had the look of a robbery gone bad. They suggest that Evans and Green plotted the killing, perhaps in pursuit of drug money, and they pounded prosecutors for giving the two a "sweetheart deal" in exchange for their cooperation.

"You could have 100 liars testify to something," said Jack Martin, Rai's attorney. "And it's not worth anything."

After the verdict was read, Rai buried his head in his hands, inches away from a small statue he's had as a good luck charm through most of the trial.

Why are they bringing up this issue again? The matter is dead now. The truth is that a lot of fathers molest their daughters in Nigeria and I think the govt should look into it and there is a high chance that Moji 's father molested her but I seriously doubt that Obasanjo(Aremu) slept with Moji. Gbenga is just unhappy with his father over something he's yet to tell us.

Weird! Youths in Kano inhale gutter odour to get drugged *558 suspects arrested —NDLEA

Sunday, June 29, 2008
NATIONAL Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command said thousands of youths in the state inhaled gutter odour, sniff bicycle solution as well as take overdose of Benzyl cough syrup to get drugged, just as 558 suspects were so far arrested in the past six months.

The state NDLEA commander Barrister Nicholas Walter Salu who disclosed this during a press conference held to mark this years UN Anti-Drug day, described the recent discovery of the command as very disturbing because they cannot prosecute perpetrators.

Barrister Salu who said the command has been ranked number one in the country, said its achievements within the last six months almost doubled what they had in 2006-2007 because of the team work of officers in the command.

He further disclosed that hard drugs weighing over 2,080,849 kg were seized from suspects, while 73 suspects were convicted, another 201 suspects were also counseled by the command during the period under review.

The Kano NDLEA boss then called on the state House of Assembly to assist the command by enacting a law to regulate the sale of bicycle solution and other local intoxicants in the state to enable them make Kano a drug free state.

Said he, “There is no doubt that the drug abuse is a global problem, while we strive to do our part very well in Kano State, we call for understanding, co-operation and assistance from all sectors of the state, together with international organization to contribute their quota to addressing the problem.”

On the collaboration with Hisba (Sharia law enforcer), he said the feat achieved by the command this year was as a result of the contribution of the Hisba men, adding that the agency will continue to work with them to fight the menace of drug in the state.

Said he, “Let me tell you frankly, there is no way I can deny that the command currently has very cordial relationship with the Hisba command in Kano State and even the A daidaita sahu team. We are even proposing to train some of their men to effectively assist us.”

Blaming politicians for the upsurge of drug abuse in the state, he appealed to those who take advantage of the youths because of the hard economic situation in the country to achieve their selfish interest to have a rethink because of the adverse effect it has in the state.

He charged youths to be wary of action selfish politicians who abuse their right and future with selfish interest and shun them whenever they are being invited, added that a wasted youthfulness has damaging consequence on them. Barrister Salu who says his door is open for any useful information from the members of the public, warned drug barons, traffickers and money launders to change their heart from illicit businesses, as his command will work around the clock to arrest them.

Why won't you forgive her? Most guys fear women like that simply because they are scared her womb may not be strong enough to carry more babies but if she already has a child for you, her past is history.

Hey, I guess you and I have to agree to disagree here, im feelin dizzy just goin round in circle here i.e repeatin myself.
If he has shown any form of remorse, he should hand himself to the law and he should apologise to the victim's family, that is what a REAL man would have done. Have you thought about those Nazi guys that were brought to justice after many years in hiding.
What if it was your child that was raped and killed, wouldn't you want justice to be done no matter how long it took. Petty crimes I can over look but not when it turns to murder, it's a no, no in my book.
I got your point but assuming he raped a random girl long time ago without murdering her but inasmuch as they couldn't find him, they still have his DNA to match, will you turn him in just for the sin of rape? or he raped a fellow student in college while wearing balaclava and confessed to you 10 years later, will you not consider giving him another chance since the rape victim must have gotten over it by now?

nigerians executed. . .

someone said their offence is different, can the person show me the indonesian law(s) that says if the quantity is small or for personal use there will be different punishments? was the girl freed? or her sentence commuted? if she was freed good for her, but the naijans might have at least had their sentence reduced to life imprisonment.
Probably. They have similar laws here in the US. Your punishment is dependent on the quantity you are carrying. There may not be any capital punishment for drug offenses in the US but those that were busted with a commercial quantity usually go in for a long time.

Picture for a moment what that kid went through in the hands of the rapist, not only did he rape her but decided to snuff life out of her, was it a painful slow death for the kid? It does not matter how long ago the crime was committed, a crime has being committed and the guy got to pay for it and not pampered with crazy love. I'd castrate him.
I still believe in 2nd chances for some people that have shown a sign of repentance. A crime that is over 25 years old that he probably committed as a teenager may be gruesome for sure but do not really warrant another long penance in jail. What about those guys that raped girls in college when they don't know any better? If there is a chance that the police department still kept his DNA, will you still turn him over even though it's been long(still within the statute of limitation) and he didn't kill her just because you just cannot fathom the devastating effect of that rape on the victim?
Politics › Re: Uk Embassy Rejects 14 Lagos Lawmakers Visa by RedHotChic(op): 10:38pm On Jun 28, 2008
@RedHotChic, how is that even remotely close to kidnapping them? Does that mean that citizens of the country who due to innactions and non chalant attitudes of the members of the house as well as the endemic corruption who do not have a means to leave Nigeria are all kidnapped?
Most of them stayed on their own accord while the ones that wants to leave but couldn't were because they couldn't procure a visa. Holding somebody hostage against his/her own will is kidnapping. In your own case, you said you'll not only frustrate movement, but you'll make sure they are holed in Nigeria as long as you can. Now, that's kidnapping.

I say throw the book at him, his hands are stained with a child's blood. Can't live with myself knowing what I know, I'd tell them to lock him up and throw away the key.
Will you also consider time lapse and judgment here? what if the guy is 45 years but he committed the crime when he was 18 years and confessed to you out of the continual torments he gets from his conscience, will you not consider that because of the time lapse, he must have done a stupid mistake and let it go because even the law will give him a very light sentence considering the time lapse? We make stupid mistakes as teenagers.

sure, but the poster said you both now have a perfect relationship.
that means he has overcame his problems. . . . . he needs emotional support not condemnation
Not true; perfect relationship does not overshadow psychotic maniac episodes. If he/she gets in the killing mood once in a blue moon, he/she can get there someday unless you are ready to find the "trigger" factor. Sometimes, stress, poverty etc can trigger it but you can't bank on that besides, your kids may be his/her next victim like sisterJ said.

are u married? if no, do u intend to?
No am not married. Why?

a thief can repent provided the proceeds of his theft which runs into millions of hard currency is safe in a fixed deposit to take care of u and your children.
I m not suprised anyway, it explains the rate in which 9.ja grls rush on guys wit money regardless of d source.
Do you think that every fraudster or armed robber had a successful career in that field? What if he did it sometime ago, made a living out of it and lost it all once again. This is beyond money, so, can you please lay off the traditional "women wants our money" and think outside the box for once. I'm looking to depend on a man's emotional support more than his finances, if you know what i mean.
Romance › Re: Love And Crime by RedHotChic(op): 8:11pm On Jun 28, 2008
in your initial post, u created the scenario of a perfect relationship. meaning that the inaction belongs to the past.
now u make it sound as if the spouse is still actively involved in such crimes?
He did that in the past but there is no guarantee that he will not do it in the future if there is another chance. For God's sake, he may be psychotic and may relapse anytime. So, it's safer to take him/her off the streets.

and y would u forgive a tax fraud and 419? and not murder?
because u tend to benefit from his financial fortune. if one crime is worth forgiving, then all crimes are worth forgiving.
Because those crimes generally has nothing to do with sickness in the head or harming peoples lives. A thief can repent but if he goes back to it, i'd rather leave him than report him. Let the Feds do their job for once.
Politics › Re: Uk Embassy Rejects 14 Lagos Lawmakers Visa by RedHotChic(op): 7:59pm On Jun 28, 2008
Members of the house of assembly, ESPECIALLY at national level are very lucky i am not in charge of issuing visas out of the country honestly. Everywhere will be blocked, not even to travel to dafur. For each significant bill passed a new country would be opened as a destination and no member will travel anywhere outside Nigeria until the FOI bill is passed. When the FOI bill is passed then cameroun would be opened. When whatever bill needs to be passed to sort out the whole free trading in tinapa issue is worked out then benin would be open for travel. By the time europe (before even speaking of america) becomes a destination you know work has been done. Travel expenses to europe? Each member will have allowance of 100euros or £70 (what?, they can pack bole and sandwich from Nigeria).

Leadership positions are too attractive in Nigeria and come with too many perks, given the state of the country.
That's almost equivalent to kidnapping them.

depending on the source of the info.
we all are humans and with bad pasts. forgiveness is a virture of a arge heart.

I don't know what i will gain by reporting to the authorities.
Why not say consider your actions depending on the crime committed and not the source of the information? For sure, I can forgive a husband that committed tax fraud, 419 etc but harboring a pedophile and murderer is more difficult to contend with.

You don't know what you'll gain by reporting her?: You'll gain the virtue that comes with protecting other kids that may fall victim to her antics.

But my believe is a woman can over time detect the kind of potentials her spouse could have. No matter what a guy can't protect all of himself. If a woman really wants to get to the roots of a man, she will.
Men may be lousy in keeping secrets but when the secret has their lives hanging in air, they'd rather keep it to themselves than let you in on them voluntarily or involuntarily.

Sometimes you can sniff and sniff but won't perceive anything especially if the significant other shares a different ethnic/national/racial background. You never can tell, we women also have our best kept little secrets we keep from dem men that they dont ever find out till we bury them.

How you heard it: From him, does it matter that much?
