deept: I somewhat agree. Their policies are always better in hindsight. Just compare what missjekyll is going on about with what Osinbajo, Fashola, Buhari, etc were saying in 2014 about ‘16 years of PDP misrule’. Granted, the PDP was dog’s dinner by January 2015. The APC was seen as ‘the change’. The APC fumed about $1 = N216 The APC promised allowances to all unemployed people. They promised better education, better everything etc… even vexed at the number of planes in the PAF (presidential Air Fleet). Just like 2024 UK Labour, the APC failed to tell Nigerian EXACTLY how they will achieve their lofty ambitions. They failed to say precisely how they would raise money, and how they would do it differently . That is precisely what UK Labour is doing now, they are hoping that the electorates will be so angry with the Tory status quo, and vote them, without questioning their policies. Ask them the simplest question, and hear them pour out rhetorics about ‘14 years of Tory misrule’ . Oya how will you solve it? “14 years Tory misrule “. What is your policy on immigration? “15 years Tory misrule”. What is your policy on taxes? “14 years Tory misrule” How will you clear the NHS backlog? “14 years Yoey misrule “ The Labour Party has been leading Cymru for eons, how come the Health service in wales is not better off? “14 years Tory misrule” Shuooooo…

deept: Glad to see someone passionate about politics. But personally don't see anything getting better with anyone of them.
Why are you so optimistic about Labour? Why do you think they would do better? Labour is EXACTLY like Nigerian APC in 2014. Lots of promises. Lots of hot air. Zero substance. Ask them the simplest question about the ‘HOW’ and they begin to starmer (pun intended). Ask them how they will cut NHS waiting times, they starmer and blow more hot air. Ask them if they are going to decrease or increase taxes, for the ordinary person, they will say they want private schools to pay taxes. Ask them how they will fund their fantasies, they will tell you NonDom. As if nondom is a silver bullet. Even on this thread, ask the most vocal Labour supporter (missjekyll) she will just go on and on rehashing punch lines. All, very hot air. |

Jamesclooney: It’s not forgery — it’s my real driving experience in Nigeria, without making a single insurance claim. The verification is done from FRSC head office Abuja. Why you would think of the negative instead of reading what I wrote, I would never know. My question is it acceptable for UK insurers as proof of NCD? The information you provided sounded like forgery (to me). FRSC has NO business issuing out NCDs. For the 13 years you have been driving in Nigeria, did you have valid insurance policies from valid insurance companies? If yes, you are a great customer (13-year’s worth). Contact the insurance company and ask them for an NCD. |

A recently graduated student in youkay got a care COS in England but has not used it to apply for visa. He also got another health care job in Scotland but the coy in scotland is not able to generate a new COS for him because they said it is showing on the system that he has a COS. This person preferred Scotland to England. Please advise on what he needs to do.
Note. I have not seen a case like this before, what I always know is someone switching from an existing COS to an undefined COS Formally reject the existing England Job offer. Follow up with the company to cancel the CoS. Once you receive confirmation that the CoS has been cancelled, then pursue your Scotland dreams. Good luck! |

missjekyll: I do not agree. I met this thread as a safe space where no question is "silly". It has remained so and wont be changing now.
Pls ask your questions. The questioner does not get lost No one says a question is ‘silly’. My point is: A Briton working in Nigeria on a Work permit visa is an Expatriate. A Nigerian working on a SKILLED visa in Britain is also an EXPATRIATE. It says a lot that an EXPATRIATE Nigerian, on a SKILLED work permit (visa) to the UK is unable to do the most basic checks/research to know the link for visa application. I tell you what (in my opinion, which I am entitled to) would have shown that this is an expat? “Hi all, A friend got a skilled worker visa sponsorship and is in the process of visa application. Is www.uk.com/skilledworker the correct application link? Or are there any other correct links folks are aware of?” In as much as there are no “silly” questions on this thread, We (ALL of us) should as much as possible discourage laziness and a penchant for being spoon-fed. |

lightofjoy: Hello, please I need to help someone apply for health care skilled visa since her CoS is out. She's in the UK already on dependant visa. So which is the right application link to use? Honestly , I think this someone needs help, serious help. Someone who has been in the UK for sometime. Has gotten a tonne of experience, enough for them to apply for SKILLED VISA. Keyword: SKILLED. Someone who has gone through the rigours of health & care training, enough to work as an Expatriate in the UK. Someone who made job applications, attended interviews and found eligible for SKILLED worker visa. Yet someone has to ask a friend to ask on a faceless forum for the link to apply for the visa? I know that my position may vary with a lot of people here, but I honestly think that some people are not doing themselves any good. If the question was about some technicalities of completing the visa form, I would say fair enough… but to not take 2 minutes of your own time to google uk visa application link? Imagine the circle. The CoS owner doesn’t know the link. The CoS owner had to ask you, and you too doesn’t know. And both of you couldn’t take 3 minutes to search online, but to come to Nairaland and ask the most rudimentary question? You (we all) can do better. |

cbn4main: Elders in the house, I thought having a well managed CCs is a good way to building one's credit score. Why is my case different na? Here is my journey so far:
I and my partner arrived the UK in August last year. I tried to get CCs for both of us but were denied by AMEX, monzo and Lloyd's. Luckily for us, it didn't affect our Credit score. My partner is a full time worker while I was a student working part-time. I decided not to apply again until last month. My partner got accepted by two CC companies (zable and Capital one) while I applied for only Zable and got as well. Whenever we use the CCs we pay back latest after 1 to 2 days. We try to maintain a zero balance.
I recently checked our Credit scores on Transunion, they were OK. But to my greatest surprise, my partner's score on Experian had dropped by over 100 points within one month of using CC and reported a credit balance of just £28 out over £400 credit limit. While mine reported zero balance but dropped by only 1 point. My experian credit score remain Fantastic.
My question is, elders in the house, does it mean it's better not to have a CC? How would they drastically reduce my partner's credit score when im no get any due repayment (just £28 she spent and she paid back the next day or so ).
Make una help biko Your major issue is that you applied, and got credit cards via ‘herd mentality’. You did not do even the most basic research into the workings of credit card vs credit file va credit history. Don’t worry. Your scores will rise. |

The UK is still one of the countries with the most liberal & easy-to-get skilled work visas. Although I do have my own qualms with the idea of paying visa holders less than the ‘going rate’, but as an immigrant, I think that is very liberal and very much like ‘lowering the bar’ for immigrants. |

Clearly & succinctly write a cover note to explain the error.Hope for the best. Option 2: Withdraw the application and make a fresh application. You MUST pay new IHS fees. The IHS fees for the withdrawn application will be refunded in full (this could take up to 15 weeks). |
