See people here who are defending record prices of gasoline are now looking for cheap data. How dies that correlate. Are they not all private enterprises. Why should they new entrants not charge cost reflective tariffs as well. Hypocrites everywhere. |
Leave UNGA for countries with global impact. We don't need it. Let us focus on building this country first. |
That is the consequential adjustment to the realities of living in Nigeria the government has asked them to make. |
Everyone should just quit and return to their respective countries, The US, Iran, Saudi Arabia, UAE...every single one of them meddling in the affairs of others should go home. They have done enough. |
So Ribadu was involved in bribery...as a third term executive middleman....and anti corruption czar at the same time....talk of multi tasking,... |
For his own good he should avoid gas like a plague except that which he flares in his refinery. |
Honestly, this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of government. Can it get any lower... |
mohims:And what is the benefit of this 'prowess' to you or your neighbor as an individual citizen in this 'shop window' democracy where the vast majority is out looking in an admiring....never experiencing the 'prowess' practically in their lives... |
Two things you notice that just speaks ignorance amongst folks - the lack of situational awareness. One. That those who cut corners are 'making it rich'...i.e they do so to amass wealth. Two. The solution is to 'boycott', to walk away from the problem. Think deeply about the dynamics of both issues and observe the vicious economic cycle we are locked in. |
TheStoriesOfMan:They are cutting corners to survive. And survival is the natural instinct in a jungle setting of a bad economy. Survival is the case everywhere involving everyone. The government has told us to 'adjust to the reality of things'. This is their consequential adjustment. Everyone along the economic chain from producer to consumer through regulator, everyone is compromised. If consumption has not fallen through affordability the fufu maker will let it ferment for a week and have a string of batches awaiting in production. If the batch is not completely sold he can 'afford' to discard the expired ones because a new batch is on the way, because sales are reasonable and the ingredients affordable. But what do you think will happen if consumption falls, production has to fall, the proportion of losses also has to fall because the ingredients are expensive. So he has to cut corners to remain solvent. This are the linkages between a bad economy and individual producer choices Nigerians fail to understand. A report recently came out on the terrifying levels of unsold inventory out of factories across the country so it is certain expired consumables will be pushed into the market at some point in time and that is why folks are increasingly seeing sediments in their drinks. Those beberages are long gone. The summary is simple. Scandinavian countries are shutting prisons for lack of occupancy due to a society of values anchored by outstanding economies. There is literally no incentive for crime. There is a clear relationship between the state of your economy and your ability as a nation to keep values and ensure HSE - Health, Safety and the Environment is made right and kept right by the law. Nigerians should learn how to govern themselves right towards universal prosperity. It is the security against these kind of things. Poverty is a danger to everyone no matter what your present socio-economic status is. Peril will find you one way or the other in that medication you take, that food you eat, the plane you fly in, that engine oil in your car.... |
dgitrader:The value of the naira. Not to talk of inflation. The investment today is a net loss in real terms. |
Tosin17:He didn't vote himself in. He was voted in by the people, both beneficiaries and victims of his ideology. That is why I continue to say that you can trust the Nigerian to make the wrong decisions on anything important in this country. We didn't get to this sorry point in this nations history by mistake. We worked out our misfortune with our own hands and ignorant minds. |
If he is avoiding travelling to the States it could possibly be true that there is a case warranting possible detention or inquest that his camp is afraid of. He will certainly have a pipeline of information coming from his foreign counsel and maybe contacts under the table at the US embassy here. It is very, very unfortunate and unprecedented. |
So more money to States and Councils automatically translates to development or economic recovery.... Shows you these people just have no idea. What is the money for other than handing it over to contractors....what else. What has all the money given to these units returned to the Federal purse by way of income resulting from enterprise creation and growth. Resulting from job creation, prosperity and increased personal income tax to government. Which of these states or councils are becoming solvent and increasingly financially independent such as to position themselves for the next next stage of national development which has to be fiscal federalism.... Just tax and spend, collect and share. That is their model of governance. That is all their vision is. Money, money, money....nothing called productivity, just money, money and more money. Four years, eight years and Nigeria will fundamentally remain the same. Nothing changed. |
...and given to 'Contractors'.... Contactors, the bane of society, the bane of Nigeria's economy, now the bane of its polity. |
Chucks13:In custody. Ask yourself the same question. Are you alright? |
Madrid has not been investing in top, top quality for a long time. And this is the result, a steady decline. They have not been able to replace both Luca and Kroos and the defence is in tatters. Poor quality everywhere you look. The focus had long been on finding a striker replacement to deliver the record goals of CR7 and Benzema after him. That they have done but the long focus on that has caused them to drop the ball (quite literally) in other departments of the team. It will take them years to arrive anywhere near the top of both club and European competitions irrespective of who manages them. Theirs is a structural problem. |
GenFunction:Why don't you then ignore all of them and refuse to vote if only thieves are presented. Then there will be a Constitutional crises and real reforms can start from there as has happened in a number of countries in the past. Why must thieves call you to vote them in and you consciously accept....what then do you expect to happen afterwards.. What kind of citizens occupy this country for heavens sake.... |
Saturnalia:Hmmm....so you prefer thieves.... This country is irredeemable.... honestly. |
dgr8truth:It is like you can always trust Nigerians to make the wrong decisions. You just cannot make a good meal with poor ingredients. You cannot have a developed country with poor quality citizens. We did not get here by mistake. Come 2027 they will make another one. |
GanagiBitrus:I have read this somewhere before.... probably something similar dozens of times in the last decade and a half, guess what.... |
With the exception of a few new players.....which we know he will not play, essentially the same team that failed to qualify for the World Cup and same team that failed to lift the Nations Cup. What mathematical equation should we use to obtain a different outcome.,... We have yet to identify what is wrong with our football. And until then let us continue digging. I personally will not invest one milligram of emotion into Nigerian football. |
Marvieduke:And why are they all prostrating before his lordship. Just disgusting. Why are professionals kneeling before someone looking non description. Feudalism is hardwired into the DNA of an average African. Reason we are like this. That is my take. Not answering stupid, slavish questions like this. Where I come from women are partners. Not commodities nor shop window articles. |
xynerise:Yrs they must. We want a competition not a coronation. No farmers league in England. New champions every year. |
2-0.... ![]() I told the Gooners so. |
Dennisochampa:Infrastructure is not economy. They are not the same thing. You guys need to understand the path to development. It is about human capacity, human productivity. We have many worked examples in Nigeria. A few days ago we were talking about Cross-River and Donald Duke's investments..In his time there were no potholes in Calabar, Hospitals, schools were all worked on and then his visions of transforming the state into a tourism and entertainment hub. But what happened. Zero human capacity development and today everything is lost due to poverty. No other state in the past has matched Akwa Ibom in terms of infrastructure investment. Mr. Akpabio totally transformed the state's outlook but what about the people. Will they be able to maintain those things if tomorrow mega oil allocations end....no. Infrastructure to an economy is like a shop.to a trader. It does not constitute.the sum total of a business. There are goods to be traded, there are skills to be learnt.. The economy is a function of both state and Federal Governments. It should be a partnership where productivity is domiciled in the states and ownership, responsibility is directed from the centre. To show how this works. Back to those south-south states. It was a Federal pronouncement that stripped Cross-River of practically all its oil assets, handing them over to Akwa-Ibom.and the Camerouns respectively. That is the limitations of states concerning their economies. That is the power of the Federal government to affect them. But overall I blame states for accepting the criticism for the situation of their local economies but refuse to demand for true Federalism and the liberty to chart their individual economic courses independent of Nigeria. |
Just slight of hand. A mentality that ascribes this sort of thing to supernatural powers is one that will easily succumb to human wittiness. Sorry to say so, but that is why you should stop watching primitive telly, it degrades thought. |
But isn't there anything the Vice President who is from that state can do to stop this. Doesn't he have any iota of grassroots influence to convene a dialogue. I mean. They say he is popular, they say he has electoral value. Of what use is all that if he cannot reach the roots where this cancer mushrooms from. |
Chegesnd:Perhaps he has not gotten over the Vini jnr trauma and the notorious Brazilian butt pain. |
Hemanwel:I really don't have an answer to that. Let us wait and see. |
Hemanwel:I doubt that. That meddlesome, minefield of mid table maniacs await. They have escaped one in Sunderland....many even more dangerous ones await. The Brighton boss is fuming. Hasn't forgotten last season's strife with Arsenal and you can be sure that he will have his air defences ready to intercept any artillery. The Gooners should be very, very, very wary. |
favour32:They will have to. I think the Mourinho/Abrahamovich instant success, Galactico era did a bad one on the club and the Premiership psyche. It inflated player valuations and compressed coaches lifespans. The truth is that billionaire money will not always be there and the Pep Guardiola's, the Special Ones will age, fade and will not always be there. The vast majority of clubs and leagues will still need to grow organically and in soccer terms means years of stability. Manchester United is a classic example. It took Sir Alex years of trials and tests to find a sustainable winning formula, time the very club will not give to anyone ever since. What happened. |
