Immatex:Ha. And you feel the structure is safer with twice the load of the staircase on the foundations in that area. Do you know how heavy concrete is and how heavy and essentric staircases are. |
And this is not Gaza or Ukraine. A country at war with its people due to poor governance. |
And only 19 percent of the tax revenues are not stolen or fritted away by government hacks..... When the people get value for money they will fall over themselves to pay taxes... |
Space is extremely large compared to these objects so the chances of impact will remain very low. Moreover earth as a planet has one of the weakest gravitational fields in the solar system so it very rarely draws objects in and courtesy of the protection Jupiter at the end of the block gives us we are more likely to generate earth ending events ourselves than heavenly ones. The combined size of craters from bombs in Ukraine and Gaza far exceeds anything we have ever seen from space. |
Amingol:Actually hunger is mental empowerment if harnessed properly. It guides ones future choices particularly when standing on that queue to vote. |
And what is Mr. Tinubu doing about job and enterprise creation in Nigeria before advising others....nothing. Just a fraction of the loan amounts taken for so called infrastructure could have been better spent seeding industrial production in the four core sectors of the economy, any economy for that matter, that is agriculture, mining, construction and engineering which are mass employment and value rich sectors. Break each of these into enterprises. For example, in agriculture set up enterprises for land preparation, seed production, irrigation, fertilizer production, equipment manufacture and maintenance, crop protection, crop harvesting, crop processing, crop storage, food banks and exchanges, etc. Get these enterprises running on commercial basis then sell shares to the public to recover investment and repay the loans, simple. In no time thousands of enterprises can be created, all publicly owned, all on the bourse and all open to investment both local and offshore. Millions employed, thousands trading shares, earning wages and best of all captured in the tax net. That is how to get an economy running. Then your foreign trips will not be with a begging bowl for aid but with a basket of goods for sale. When a new middle, working class is created with real independent, disposable you don't have to beg anyone to invest in Nigeria. That is how the Asian tigers did it. They internalized development by putting their people to work. Here we run a constantly bleeding, contract based economy where the bulk of our activities centre around crass mercantilism. Buy low, sell high, or give me a bridge worth 10 million, I will pay you 20 million for it, Thus creation next to nothing in real value. The ability of internalize sustainable development is the real test of a well run economy and a functional democracy. |
jojo1415:Hmmm.....while the claim is that inflation is receding. Perhaps your experience is a clue that the Nigerian economy is entering a new and even more dangerous phase.... that of stagflation. |
Indeed. They should both sit around a table and assess where they met Nigeria in relation to where this country is today after ten years. Remember they have just six more years to equal the PDP's so called 16 years of misrule. |
First is always best. The yardstick by which every successor is measured. Sean Connery. |
Someone said, 'borrowing could be fruitful if tied to reforms, projects....', Can you imagine this....in a country with more than a dozen pending cases of corruption each comfortably worth over thirty billion. What do Nigerians expect to happen. Why do they think there is no money in the economy for this and that if not that all have been stolen or wasted. If that individual was the creditor, will he lend to Nigeria plc. |
Hope the club won't enter into a contract trap with this lad, that will return them to bankruptcy down the line. |
DomPerignon:3rd world country. Primitive people. Everything is a nail to a hammer wielding carpenter. |
That is the summary of our security forces and the unending caper of insurgency. |
This is the summary of Nigeria's GMP in the 21st century. Nothing more..... primitive nation. |
Someone whispered to him that he is playing with a lighter at a gas station. |
That is football, that is the giddy industry of sports for you. Empires rise and kings fall, some lucky to rise again, while others perish in the sands of time, their reign crumbling in blazing ingnomy. Who would believe Ispwich Town was the 5th ranked club in Europe in 1982 and Forest won the UCL back to back around that time. Together with Bochum and Gladbach in Germany, these were the clubs that introduced us to the global game in telly. Who will have imagined the Chicago Bulls go decades now without a Championship or two famed goalkeepers getting sent off on their final appearances for their clubs and careers respectively in Emi Martinez, his first red card ever and the legendary Pepe Reina of Como. Sports is one long story of powerful reigns and devastating falls. Just enjoy it while it lasts. |
Passing through essentially what is marshland, it will cost gargantuan amounts to maintain, just ask the NDDC or the IOC's. Tolls will be high enough to price the road out of the market. And then the future issues of coastal flooding and sea level rise. I still cannot see how 12 billion dollars on this is money well spent. |
Blankstare:Neither should all the so called development commissions littering the government spaces. They are supposed to be institutions of intervention with set targets of development within time and budget envelopes not the open ended money pits where government pork is dished out and visions remain eternal mirage. |
Gbadugbakun:They did not need him. Conte intended to build a team so he would not be held to ransome going forward. If you study his years as Juventus head honcho you will understand. See the drama surrounding Osimen and his continued stay at Galatasaray. There will be hurt. |
Courtesy of the government everone is falling over themselves to return next elections. If you cannot understand how the Atlantic slave trade happened in the full view of the so called brilliant and dexterous black man, this is it. |
Not seen such a poor quality finals of a soccer tournament for a long time. Both teams are so out of sorts. Cannot hold on to the ball for more than 10 seconds, cannot make 5 decent passes.... no visible play pattern,...kai |
israelmao:Then why are they asked to come out to vote. To put people in government to superintend over themselves. If they are to govern themselves there is no need for another government. |
cr7lomo:Agreed..Mickey Mouse defenders everywhere. That Davison Sanchez is your centre back says a lot. However Osimen can only play the cards he is dealt with. And to do the business in three different leagues, France, Italy and Turkey says a lot about his undoubted quality. |
The mentally in the Premiership is just different. As long as the profits roll in nothing else matters. |
Here we go again with these endless PPP (purchasing power parity) arguments that spring up every six months or so. Look Nigerians, the answer is simple. There is nothing better than a well run economy for the benefit of all. And I mean the benefit of the Nigerian in Lagos, Abuja or Onitsha and the foreigner is some far flung territory that doesn't even know we exist. |
Who is going to break this cycle of violence. Are these wars and deaths and vengeance sustainable. How can a peace that is not mutual exist. |
No wahala. No one will blame the US this time for starting this slide into global grave danger. America has been holding back on this Pandora's box for decades. Now resistance back home is bound to falter and their considerable military industrial complex collaborates with their top tech enterprises to create very scary stuff. I clearly remember the local and international debates over the ehtics of pilotless military drones when they first graced the skies in the 90's. How it was immoral to kill an enemy from behind a screen and joystick Now the world will have to come to terms with mass deaths by computer controlled mechanical devices and God help us if they are driven by AI chips. Truly terrifying terminator stuff happening in our lifetime. |
Not again. Trump will be fuming. More Mexicans will be deported.... ![]() |
But look at the environment.... kai. If you want to do this you select a wide open space, a park, a parade ground, etc, where there are clear lines of sight. How do you postcard this without the eyesore littered around. |
Proudlyngwa:Atletico doesn't make half the revenue United does, Fc Barcelona has been in a financial crises for years and barely signed players this season, even Real has been scouting free transfers lately due to their stadium repayments but they get their squad renewal programs often right. The Premiership consistently out spends all other leagues in the transfer window yet it is unimaginable to see Atletico in 16th position or Barcelona go trophy less or without a title in four, five years despite their financial challenges. The mentality is just different amongst the elite teams of Laliga from their counterparts in the Premiership. In Laliga there are no sentiments. They sense when a player is no longer cutting it or waxing into the squad and toss them out. Griezmann can no longer make match day. What was Benardo Silva doing on the pitch yesterday. What was the idea bringing Ilkay Gundogan back from the dead if not sentiment. Even top talents like Ousmane Dembele were let go because they just did not fit. The Premiership may be excellent at commercial stuff but when it comes to the footballing aspect of the game, that is the management philosophy, Premiership teams just do not cut it. Manchester City is clearly in decline and the hope of football lovers is that this is not the beginning of the all too familiar bust cycle. |
Mancity has reached the end of it's lifecycle as a squad. Nothing short of a total rebuild can bring this team anywhere near the status over the past decade. The team looks tired, laboured and totally wasted. It was sad looking at how the team has deteriorated technically and tactically so badly. I think the top Premiership teams should take a cue from the top Laliga teams and how they are able to renew their squads year after year to maintain top level performances over extended periods. The cycle of bang and bust that have hit teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, United and now City is a point of study. You can hardly see Real, Barcelona or Atletico going through the blues...(pun not intended). Why maintain a squad until half the players fall into terminal decline before rebuilding. This is so common in the EPL amongst top teams. |
Said enough about security or the lack of it in Nigeria. Let us continue the present path and continue to enjoy..... or endure the consequential sufferings. One day we will come to our senses. |
