This is the cost of not being an independent institution of law and order serving society, not individuals. Stop being a tool in the hands of politicians and money bags, you say no. Countless executive orders withdrawing police from individuals. You still find your way back to be humiliated. Cannot resist greed. Who is she to have police as orderly. What is an orderly in the first place. A servant to a serving senior military officer. Is she serving military?. Or just a colonial era master and slave official and unofficial, glorified domestic servant. Are those the responsibilities of a police service funded by the taxpayer? Whatever. Pay up. It is the price of institutional schooling. Next time she applies to have one of you hold her handbag and ride shot gun in her SUV, tell her to go find someone else. |
Julibet:He is not interested in the that. His latest loan quest is for his concrete roads at the bequest of Chagoury and HITECH. If Nigerians cannot have what they badly need to survive, then there is no point having a government. |
This man TRUSTS that Nigerians have short memories and attention spans. This man TRUSTS that Nigerians do not record or read history. This man TRUSTS that Nigerians pander to propaganda, dwell on emotions and trade in sentiment. C'mon Mr. Lai. We were all here. We have not forgotten. We don't need your rehash or reboot of history. But this is what I always say. He has reached the point where legacy begins to speak, to haunt him like a ghost, where accountability begins to knock on his door and he has to say something, a vain attempt to hide the elephant under a ball of string. And if we will not take it he will then find a scribe to help write a book so that his days don't end in infamy and like my Gen Z's will say, "To explain taya" But alas, the legacy is lost, a good name is gone forever. Lesson to those in power today. You go explain taya when you eventually have to get down from that high horse. Just ask Mr Babangida today. He will tell you. Only if he could turn back the hands of time. |
Well, you've heard it folks. God promised to strengthen him. So you guys fighting to have him replaced are fighting against God??... |
Sheuns:They are all big disappointments. But when your people demand little or nothing you can afford fun and games while the leaders of other advancing nations sweat and grey out daily due to pressure to perform. |
Bahamas95:The level of enlightenment is very high. And I think it is because of their cosmopolitan nature. They say easterners travel a lot, true but I think Edolites travel light. |
Eriokanmi:Nigerians should own the process and own the outcomes. Learn to build institutions that are the guarantors of continuity. Just as financial traders have tools such as 'stop loss' and 'take profit', the citizens too should have independent tools to limit the damage of bad leadership while securing the continuity of good leadership. A lot of folks don't like the Trump government and consider his term a huge waste. But whatever damage they perceive is on a clock and they have a chance in near time to reverse it. Because of institutions that work. |
SmartPolician:Politicians don't look at it that way. They look at budgets, capital expenditure, potentials for foreign loans and grants when placing their beloved in positions. Money, money, money that will empower them to 'support'. In a nutshell, the term 'juicy' portfolios are reserved not for the qualified but for the henchmen and women. |
bennybuhari:He said and I quote, '...they won't disagree over theology...' Are the fatwas' and the public lynchings not 'disagreements' over theology. Does he mean that in the decades they have been married Mr. Tinubu and Mrs Tinubu will not have 'disagreed' over theology, perhaps said something 'fatwa' compliant to one another to precipitate serious violence. So it doesn't happen in the south doesn't cover the atrocities that happen in the rest of the country. Christians in the core north walk on egg shells and many have paid the price for things said and done. |
HacheNoire:Just a shift in priorities. Government spends too much money on things it should not. Half the capital vote can and should be investments not expenditure. Reform, commercialise, privatise to reduce wage bills and the enormous recurrent expenditure and above all slim down political patronage. Instead of giving out appointments, you can give out privileges. This will unlock a lot of resources for the core developmental objectives. If you cannot educate your citizenry you cannot control your population growth and if you cannot do that like in Nigeria you cannot put a hand on security, quality of life and dent poverty. |
Itzlinda:They should start rejecting government contracts. And government should wind down the contracting culture in this country. It should reform itself to either do things by itself, for itself or completely cede those responsibilities to the private sector. If you cannot run a thing there is no point in owning it. |
airsaylongcome:Thank you for the admission. In the coming months the evidence will be clear to all. |
kafeii123:That is Nigeria in a nutshell. You know the truth the establishment and their rabid supporters will not admit. Remove money grabbing from politics and government offices will be empty. |
Angelfrost:I badly wanted Arsenal to win. They have the longest drought amongst the traditional big 5 English Premiership clubs and a runners up spot three years in a row had them on even odds with City to clinch it. But...Arteta has not learnt much from previous seasons and his inferiority to Pep has once again shown in the run in. I can't count Arsenal out of it completely, 100 percent but it is only a brave or crazy man that will bet against City. |
Ah, ah, I don't understand. Was it last year when it was reported that he was medivac-ed to the UK in a crises, some said near dearh, the government and it's supporters denied ill health but said he was on holidays or something like that and showed photos of him at a gallery or museum of sorts. Fast forward and the same set of folks, same set are saying he has been ill for a long time, and he resigned because of that. I really don't see any value whatsoever in continuously peddling falsehood. I don't understand the purpose it serves. You do so for a length of time and you completely lose your moral compass. Integrity is so lacking in this regime. You just don't know what to believe anytime they speak. |
Angelfrost: |
Bernardo Silva is to City what Martin Odegaard is supposed to be to Arsenal, a Conductor in Chief. But the difference is clear. Silva's all round game is simply impeccable, while Arteta has not been able to raise Odegaard's level in all his time at the Emirates. |
Winterhaven:You don't mean it... I didn't see that earlier. That is damning. And you see this Burnley team had I think a record number of clean sheets in their Championship promotion last season. Broke all sorts of records. But the Prem is a very different animal. Anyway it's bye today. |
Winterhaven:I simply cannot see anything beyond a City win. It will be one of the biggest upsets ever if City does not pick a win and a hefty bank balance. |
Awwww, what a shame. I was looking for a Spursy like relegation scrap next season. |
nedekid:Didn't see this very common sense post. Well done. If the first term had been used to sort out the economy then the path wil have been clear to do the cosmetics the second term. But now everything is threatened. |
HelipsTech:Do you know that Malaysia has made so much from Palm, has earned so much forex over the decades and so converted most of it's farmlands to plantations that the world has begun to warn them of the effects of deforestation because they have gone palm oil mad. That is what industrialization does for you. You can identify one or two agric products and go all out to dominate the international market. Convert all your farmlands and earn pure forex. This takes vision and purpose. If you have a solid vision for agriculture you will see beyond food on the table. If Nigeria was earning and depending on the farmland for a good proportion of our foreign exchange earnings do you think they will treat banditry with kids gloves. They will have solved it like they did the delta issue. A threat to NATIONAL SECURITY. Right now the oil worker has a garrison of troops protecting him while the woman who makes garri depends on the anointing oil for safety. What is the difference....money, dollars. |
HelipsTech:This is where government comes in. To essentially set up an agricultural industry in this country. To transit Nigerian away from subsistence agriculture which is vulnerable to the kinds of things you speak about, to large scale enterprises that can take care of themselves. Then the threats will be similar to those faced by oil companies in the delta who have the capacity to handle pirates, saboteurs and aggression (due to scale) in affording proper security. |
seunmsg:I see. So where are you going to get the so called revenue from if you are not spending the little you have wisely, that is if you are not INVESTING it effectively to create value. You think the poverty and revenue shortfalls if today just fell on this country out of the blues. It is years of mismanagement of all that we have earned and all that we have had that has brought us to this place. The gulf of fiscal responsibility started decades ago as cracks. Cracks that are now caverns. Have you ever heard of three budgets running at once. In ten years it may be ten budgets running at once if you and I don't insist government cuts it's spending, reforms the way it operates. Advances a culture of self help and direct labour to do everything from the toilet rolls in it's loos to the Almighty Coastal and Caliphate highways that we expect will pump our GDP. And above all practices in itself the kind of austerity it expects of the citizens. Me, I don't have the thirty trillion in my account to fill the black hole the government has created for itself. So even if they line me up on a stake and threaten to shoot me over more taxes, tolls and tariffs, the money IS JUST NOT THERE. |
Told you folks. It is always about the money. Contractors, consultants, corruption. The three C's of Nigeria plc. Stop these and Abuja will be empty. Stop these and rallies will be deserted. But stop these and Nigeria will start moving forward. We have a collosal SPENDING PROBLEM. |
How can he be of any use when they are busy doing 'cooperation' instead of 'confrontation'. So if you cannot bow to the feudal lords, nothing will come your way. |
stuffs2002:Seems like you have a lot of information about them. Tell us more. Like you know more than the victims who saw them eye to eye. Where do.you see criminals carrying out scorch earth campaigns, where do you see criminals wiping out, 'cleansing' whole villages.... Where do you see criminals spreading terror. You need to be questioned. |
osuofia2:Greed. It is the nature of man. You naturally continue down a path of least resistance. |
Almost a recurring, everyday theme throughout south east Asia. I think their embassies here should start profiling and rejecting visa requests. |
The way Chelsea is going down the Chinese government will soon hire their expertise to mine lithium in Nassarawa.... ![]() |
Lukuluku69:Thank you. NNPCL has also had serious internal debt issues. They basically cannot help a competitor (as it were). I think a way out is to drive Dangote into upstream. Incentify him into exploration and production as a long term strategy to address these issues. Indonesia was once a top OPEC member in the late 70's and early 80's until they left. Having decided to halt oil exports in favour of local consumption on account of their growing economy. We have reached that decision point and it will take another herculean political decision to quit crude oil export for good. |
coleon:Your country keeps on taking foreign loans that is where the problem lies. We have decided to accept that. We have not questioned that. How will you then pay these foreign currency debts if you give the bulk of your principal forex earner to Dangote (in naira perhaps). Remember that a good portion of the production is securitized into the future. So be realistic and let us tackle the problem from source. Our appetite for debt and our bad spending habits is the reason why Dangote has to look elsewhere. Like I said I don't know if there are other arrangements by Dangote with foreign crude producers in some sort of swap deal, refining contract agreements or ownership arrangements. He is a private outfit and has been licensed essentially to run his refinery the way he wants. Nigerians have largely allowed that. |
