OgwuEgo:Then why not just give out the form for free so that you will not ' have to give out contracts' to the losers. Look, until we demonetize our politics we will never build a better society. We must learn to build our societies and not the crass individualism holding us captive in black Africa. We must get to a point where politics is about a desire to serve people not build personal fiefdoms. And the reward is seeing your community, your state, your country excel for a lasting legacy. All these guys will not be remembered in a few years from now because they simply did not serve. Who can remember the first governors of most states in Nigeria elected in 99.... hardly any. And I am sure today most of them not living on ridiculous pensions are humbled economically too. |
Fireboy02:Both are totally out of order. The governor has no right to infringe on the rights of others to contest for public office. The party is not his private property. The Minister on the other hand has served his term and should just walk away and never look back like decent politicians do in sane societies. He should stop playing primitive feudalism. We know he has a warchest with which to 'sponsor' his puppet. You see the problem in Nigeria politics is the fear of losing relevance caused by a system of patronage. If you are irrelevant you don't make money and if you cannot continue making huge amounts stealing public funds you cannot buy the next set of relevance. It is a vicious disease of corruption the likes of Wike and co. are enmeshed in. Without the wheel constantly turning for them they are gone. |
Kaycee9242:That is what they call democracy. The will of a select few. They call it a world class restaurant but serve only garri and draw soup....hahaha |
Hezzyluv:To be honest bridges, particularly reinforced concrete bridges and the kind of monolithic reinforced concrete bridges we seem to like in these parts are generally not repairable. The only option once they have structural issues is to tear them down. Because once any part or section fails, it will all go like a proverbial pack of cards with devastating effects. I do hope the MoW will insist on modernisation involving new designs and technologies not just playing around with function and giving the same ol, same ol. It maybe a good thing JB is not involved this time around. When it comes to engineering infrastructure they are a one trick pony. The only things they have done differently are the Lekki link bridge and the Uyo-Abak narrow gorge bridge both state projects. Will have thought they will use the Second Niger bridge to really shine, show themselves to Nigeria and thank this country for decades of patronage with something really spectacular but alas it was the same ol, same ol. A bridge that in future will not even allow the proper use of that river for marine transport. Even the older bridge looks more iconic. Anyway horses for causes, its all about the money. |
eepeepook:At least one reason why a so called summary execution is unhelpful is that he is certainly in league with others up and down the crime chain. They must be found and stopped as quickly as possible or else they will simply hide more, recruit some other mule and devise even more devious means to their aim. 90 percent of crime solutions is in Intel. Dead men tell no tales. After that you can charge him to court and with enough evidence his life can legally be terminated. |
The former minister, will be like...'phew, I bailed just in time....a million and a half less curses than last week...' |
Kastonkastroll:Me too. I have never seen only one person attending a party....singing birthday songs to himself, blowing candles alone, commanding the boom box and doing a gig with his shadow....and the person isn't a psycho...or abusing controlled substances...naa. |
Told you guys that all these ragtag vigilante groups have no authority. Can you assault a law enforcement officer and remain free. By now he will be in detention awaiting trial and a lengthy time behind bars. Vigilante is not police. The demand for proper police to ensure security and to nip potential conflicts in the bud before they become full blown crises. |
Gotocourt:Salvation from sure execution. Imprisonment here may not be bad after all. |
These people are pushing this country to socio-political implosion. Unbridled power and greed pushes you into an inordinate assumption of security. They will be highly mistaken. This democracy is either let to work or is left to crumble. The vacumn will be devastating. |
alsudan:So you think....hmmm...like you just immigrated to Nigeria last week. Wake up man. |
Tired talking about Dangote. You all know what you did. Just accept the repercussions. |
What a waste. The taxpayer must be livid. For what is all this cost when there is nothing to show for it. Absolutely nothing. |
stan4b:Question I wanted to ask. |
DrAda:Does he look like someone with teenage kids. |
spencekat:So Mancity is now lobbying for certain referees to be appointed. How will the 115 charges stick. No wonder Dangote was called an institution by the Vice President. Why not just appoint him Minister of Petroleum since he is now bigger than the regulator. Nigerians should be up in arms at this news if true. Everyday their civil liberties and their control over their lives through government continues to be whittled down through this feudal system. First we sat by while the Legislature was made an annex of the Presidency and the result is all manner of anti-people policies going through at the speed of light with absolutely no resistance or scrutiny, but now our economy is about to be hit by the interests of a single individual industrialist and his capitalist interests. Anyway we caused it. We the citizens fought the unions to hands off Dangote then joined hands with Dangote as he fought dirty to cower and eventually eject the former head of the regulatory body. Now that we have de-activated the airbags and slashed our seat belts let us see where this journey will end. No wailing tomorrow. |
Maybe just random trash deposited by erosion and to be uncovered in ten thousand years by real anthropologists not local 'scaremongerists'... ![]() |
No one will ignore this headline.... , just to read comments at the very least. |
Akalia:The airframes that matter in this war we are fighting helicopter gunships and armoured troop carriers. I have said it. Two sets of two gunships and one troop carrier per state under siege will be of far more value than all these. |
walosky:Ask me. Even slower turbo props are still too fast and fly too high to handle the kind of enemies we are fighting and the capabilities they possess. |
What is a jet for. Another white elephant 'infrastructure'....or has ISIS taken to the air or what.... Can it chase down drones... Can it take out bandits.... An it interdict kidnapping..... These are the issues of our time and our scarce resources should go to the problems were are facing right now. The war against terror today requires squads of helicopter borne elite troops to respond rapidly to flash points, ambushes and in support of operations. The Italians manufacture some of the best rotary wing platforms but unfortunately the hungry man knows not what he wants to eat. That unfortunate general that was slaughtered by those blood letters will not have wished for this type of equipment but one that will arrive at the scene, destroy the enemy and rescue the survivors and the besieged. A jet flying thousands of feet high can do nothing against a mobile, dashing and well camouflaged enemy. |
yemmight:Nigerians in general do not relate their electoral decisions with the quality of governance promised and received. He will win....and he will do nothing....because he doesn't need to perform. Say no to 'endorsements', 'consensus' and every anti democratic devices that have taken root and continue to fester in this country. If they do work Nigeria will be far better that it is presently. Anyone vying for office MUST compete democratically for it. |
Flangelo12:It is then the good people of this country will begin to wail instead of being proactive now. It is time we petition these embassies to increase scrutiny on applicants and our government to up.its game on identity management. |
Why is he facing the wrong way. Show us his mugshot so we can understand the face of a felon. |
Jakarta:Very poor reportage. Bulked up the story with tales by moonlight while the real essence was not more than a couple of lines. The internet is free, everyone is on it including quality writers and media personalities to emulate. |
Themandator:There were a lot of BVN mistakes then and a lot of people till date do not know because BVN details are not open to the public. Identity management in this country is just like most other administrative things, shoddy. |
They say that Tinubu is the target. That they want to use insecurity to push him out. That they don't want him to rule for 8 years so he can complete his concrete roads. Everything else is unimportant. So lick your wounds and cheer up. Elections will always have consequences. |
No care about the victims, the thousands that have died, the desolation in villages scorched and reduced to ashes, the victims being tortured in the bushes and those lucky to escape but stuck in refugee camps. No, it is all about you and your ambition....worth more than the lives of those you swore to protect. |
Borrow for white elephants. To give your contractor family and friends and the peons will slave to pay it back. The promise you made concerning power you have not fulfilled. But you are borrowing for projects you never promised when you were seeking office. What do you call that.....PROVOCATION. |
horlermesheye:Feudal society. Perfect vertical relationships. The 'rankadede' generation. Always looking up in subservience and always looking down at the less privileged. A society that cannot gel due to a lack of horizontal relationships and progress because citizens cannot lend empathy to one another. That is the lot of the negro and that is why you hardly see any success stories around the world. |
H franchasofficia:He should rather show his governance. |
Charlieabc:What is wrong will Mbappe. |
