With United rising from the dead the Premiership will be ultra competitive next season. Maybe it is Liverpool's turn to sojourn in the soccer wilderness while awaiting their own stone tablet. |
United has not played like this since Sir Alex retired. Such Swaggerlicious Swaggercity has returned to Old Trafford.... ![]() |
WhizdomXX:But trillions for some stupid new highway and billions for airport renovations. Renovations every successive government feeds fat on. |
Evanderbright:Promised the Senate presidency by who. Nigerians don't learn anything. This is a country of very dull people. |
That is what happens when you get involved in partisan politics. You will have to explain and explain and explain yourself. But when you limit yourself to governance, you can freely express yourself and be consistent over time. Because sir, most of the things you spoke about have become substantially worse today and you cannot speak up because your stance then was political and I hazard to say driven by the very thing you spoke about the water and oil mixture of church and state. So just be like me and support no one but everyone, the citizens of this country in their quest for a better life. Then you will need not explain your thoughts, your words and your actions. |
U09ce:That is why you have to fight for yourselves and stop pandering to them, making graven images of people that have scant regards for you. When you see some Nigerians fight their fellow citizens on behalf of the so called leaders you sit back in deep thought and consider the fact that you will never see two right thinking directors fight to defend a wayward staff, you will never see two Generals fight over a recruit or you will never see upstanding couples fight over a disrespectful maid or houseboy....well except some sin is happening under the sheets. The kind of abuse the so called leaders subject the citizens to. |
Missed opportunity by the Gunners to load the stats. It will matter. |
ezegenigbonine:Seriously poor. He has deteriorated so badly despite his long run with the Timber injury. The Gunners should let him go and get a solid replacement cos the timber in Timber is made of glass. If not that Alex Arnold will not want to play for a rival he would be a good buy from Madrid to unlock the full potentials of Gyokeres. |
Masterclass. |
Offside. No goal |
Good hold up play from the Gyork. Seriously pitching to remain top 9 come next season. So sorry for Jesus. His years at the Emirates and in the EPL have not quite worked out. |
Gbadugbakun:But why can't they continue on new media. |
Kai, sleepy Ben White at it again.... |
BigYash:And why should he 'start looking' for the so called real owner of the kids. |
Pootle:It was made for function not aesthetics and for those constructed by oil companies it was infrastructure for production thus the bare minimum and not to serve the public for ever. They take back their share of the profits to give their shareholders. Your government should take it's own share of the profits to build a more flashy one for the public. |
MobilityMFR:It is a bridge and can serve rudimentary functions if well maintained. There are roads and bridges in Europe that are still in use that go back to the Roman era. If the settlements that it links grow to drive traffic beyond it's capacity a new one can be built. But apart from that not everything has to be shiny new, just well maintained. It is a heritage site. Look at the 'first' Niger bridge, stunning, rustic architecture built by Dumez. Compare it to the Julius Berger concrete monstrosity besides it. |
Just as the British colonists left it....all those generations ago. They too built 'massive' infrastructure unrivaled by most governments ever since. Perhaps we should vote them back into power.... 'Like' for colonial era infrastructurists. 'Share' for shoddy modern era maintainance. |
Three quarters of what the government states in it's Mayday townhall is statutory obligations. Is the prompt payment of salaries, wages and pensions a forward leaning achievement? Maybe the first year of a new administration after perhaps many years of orevious government failure. But to come out year after year to tell your staff that they should party because their salaries are being paid is just ridiculous. Statutory obligations are not political achievements. This is devaluation of governance. What next. The citizens should be grateful that bandits are being captured.... |
Why are Nigerians so angry. Shey you all said 'co-operation' is better than 'confrontation'.....so why are you now confronting the poor man. Let him be abeg. Next time when a President dabbles into the Legislature to as much as select the leadership of the supposed representatives of the people you all walk out of the stadium because there is no contest that can be fair when a team, one of the contestants selects the umpire. Are your leaders fair to you... We have seen our kind of democracy where an arm of government has no limits, no guardrails, no control tower, a contest without an impartial referee and so it is free for all in Ask Rock. This is the result. Nigerians don't know just how much trouble they are in. Just brace for the second term. |
yemre:Agreed and that missing link is why most of them remain unviable candidates in my honest opinion. It is like trying to invest in a business that hasn't published a prospectus. Their supporters should know that it is pure gambling, unfortunate as this may sound and regrettably as this will turn out because this present government is begging to be forced against the superiority of alternative ideas. Haba, the economy and insecurity were not as bad as this when Jonathan was removed via the ballot. It should be a lot easier to pressurize this government into a change of course or remove it if it remains intransigent. But the opposition.... just mediocre. |
Oluwaseunomo:I agree. There was a lot of mismanagement in his government but all that pales into insignificance to what is happening now. You cannot just explain how a government that has record low socio-economic obligations is consistently claiming bankruptcy. I mean subsidy on energy, power, the Naira, education (to a certain degree) and most everyday government services is gone completely or slashed deeply yet it cannot balance the books. I cannot see a bigger level of mismanagement than this. Most decent folks are asking, where is all the money going. PS. I mean every government before the APC payed debts, subsidized energy, power, the Naira. Rates and tariffs were substantially lower, fees for education, health services were lower and every government before this invested in so called Infrastructure this government continues to trumpet. And then the big elephant. Oil prices have now been way above the budget benchmark for a couple of months now on the back of stable export volumes (higher than the even the Buhari years). Yet it is not impacting the economy in any way, shape or form. The Naira is not gaining markedly against the dollar despite record receipts....what is happening. Government is loud by their silence. |
Oluwaseunomo:So Nigerians will be asking of this government perhaps in another decade, long after they have all gone. |
When they will not spend right. When they will rather waste than invest. When they will not create jobs but prefer handouts. When inflation is used by government as a monetary weapon to subdue the worker, not a very happy May 1st. In those days, even during the military regime Labour Day was the venue and avenue to push for more rights and a better economic deal for the average white, blue and grey collar worker. When governments came with incentives to 'carrot' the average citizen. What is happening today... |
Nauttyprof:And to look to who. They are all same. The fruits are all from the same feudal tree. Democracy doesn't depend on a class of people to run it. It depends on the quality of citizenship to operate it. The outcome of qualitative staff employed by an organisation rests entirely on management. We the citizens have been given this country to manage, to employ people into positions of authority and decision making. To organise us around our collective vision and yearning for a better society per time. But we have not been able to bring out their qualities because we don't know what we want and we have not accepted the responsibility of supervising them. The failure of government is largely a failure of supervision ground up. The citizens fail to hold their representatives to account. The representatives in turn fail to hold the Executive to account. Who gives such powers and privileges over their lives and fortunes and goes to sleep....the Nigerian, because he has a feudal mindset. He believes those elected are somewhat superior and he is inferior to them in every way, shape or form but the truth is that they are merely first amongst equals. Your Rep, your Senator, your Governor, your President are your employees. They work for you and not the other way round. If Nigerians can get this into their heads the chains will fall free that very day. |
ribbit:She obviously has something on him. But to be honest, is three terms not more than enough to right the wrongs of that era instead of making them substantially worse. |
Africa should collaborate more to develop this continent. Mining and minerals alone can make Africa a powerhouse. |
wonder233:That is exactly what I am saying. And that is why the planet is decaying. Earth is dying and the world is eating itself alive.... We will all be long gone before nature takes its toll and the solar system us consumed by the sun. Man is on course to cause of a mass extinction of his own specie. |
wonder233:DP |
It is the easiest answer on earth and describes everything that exists and we experience since the creation of man. Man is essentially selfish and uncaring about others. His decisions are always in his own interest. How can anyone look at the planet, the earth and the world and the way it is being run down and gradually falling apart and not think so. Wars, famine, environmental disasters, racism, capitalism, socialism all point to one thing... |
Justnation:But will you spare him if he supported your preferred candidate... ![]() |
OgwuEgo:Then why not just give out the form for free so that you will not ' have to give out contracts' to the losers. Look, until we demonetize our politics we will never build a better society. We must learn to build our societies and not the crass individualism holding us captive in black Africa. We must get to a point where politics is about a desire to serve people not build personal fiefdoms. And the reward is seeing your community, your state, your country excel for a lasting legacy. All these guys will not be remembered in a few years from now because they simply did not serve. Who can remember the first governors of most states in Nigeria elected in 99.... hardly any. And I am sure today most of them not living on ridiculous pensions are humbled economically too. |
Fireboy02:Both are totally out of order. The governor has no right to infringe on the rights of others to contest for public office. The party is not his private property. The Minister on the other hand has served his term and should just walk away and never look back like decent politicians do in sane societies. He should stop playing primitive feudalism. We know he has a warchest with which to 'sponsor' his puppet. You see the problem in Nigeria politics is the fear of losing relevance caused by a system of patronage. If you are irrelevant you don't make money and if you cannot continue making huge amounts stealing public funds you cannot buy the next set of relevance. It is a vicious disease of corruption the likes of Wike and co. are enmeshed in. Without the wheel constantly turning for them they are gone. |
