The South East rejected the military free medical services and some of my deluded igbo friends said that Igbos have been brainwashed and were filled with hatred. Today, Bayelsa State witnessed another pandemonium as primary and secondary school pupils and students fled their schools when they sited soldiers who came to their schools for the same free medical services. In Edo state today too, parents and schools authorities vehemently rejected the same services.

It is clear that the Nigeria Army has lost every iota of confidence and trust it enjoyed in the eyes of the people of the South East and South South. The important question to ask is...why are Nigerians afraid and wary of their Military? An igbo adage says "ebe nwata n'ebe akwa n'atu aka, ma iko nne ya anoghi ya, iko nna ya no ya". (Where ever a little child is crying and pointing, if the mother's concubine is not there, the father's concubine is there). Another Igbo adage says that "Awo anaghi agbo oso ehihie n'efu". (There is no smoke without fire).

The Nigerian government and it's military should go and do a soul searching to find out if they are still in line with the purposes to which they are in existence. In the last two years, it's only Boko Haram terrorists and Fulani Herdsmen terrorists that have killed more innocent unarmed people than the military. Imagine a country where it's Military is competing with terrorists on who will kill more innocent unarmed civilians. From the slaughter of Shia Muslims in Kaduna state to the bombing of the Rann IDP camp, to the slaughter of unarmed Biafrans. As far as I'm concerned, Boko Haram terrorists, Fulani Herdsmen and the Nigeria Army have been waging wars against innocent unarmed people of this country and I doubt if their motives differ.

I as an individual have become very apprehensive and cautious anytime I see a soldier with a gun around me. Maybe because I'm a Biafran and also because they have proven to be blood letters and murderers in official uniforms.

I wish to seek for candid advise from the well informed and good Nairaland families. Which is a better investment to make. Going into filling station with a view to growing it to span the 36 states of the federation in the future or to invest in buildings with the aim of renting out (residential) also with a future aim of expanding it to major cities of the country as time progresses.

Thanks for anticipated insightful advice.

The Moment Igbo Children Saw Nigerian Military in Kindergarten. Immediately, they saw the army, these children under 5yrs old, took off and saying: you have killed ouir fathers and mothers, and you are coming for us. IT WILL NOT WORK! The principals and school authorities couldn't stop these children, they all opened the gate and ran away from the school. One teacher said, she has never seen anything like these before as these children are well informed and fears Nigerian authorities especially military, owning to their genocides of Igbos in 1945, 967-70 and series of killings between 2015-2017 of IPOB members.

The International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law (Intersociety) has highlighted reasons why Igbos may no longer trust the Nigeria Army.

The group, in a statement by Emeka Umeagbalasi, its Chair, Chinwe Umeche, Head, Democracy & Good Governance; and Obianuju Igboeli, Head, Civil Liberties & Rule of Law, affirmed that the greatest threat facing the Nigerian Army, is “its integrity and professionalism (if any) as well as its general acceptance and factorization into the multi ethno-religious federation of Nigeria is its present lopsided composition; designed and executed by the present Buhari/Osinbajo Administration since 29th May 2015.

“The gross lopsided composition of the officers and personnel of the Nigerian Army is substantially, if not totally responsible for woes facing it since June 2015. The referenced terminal virus haunting the Army is also the case with other branches of the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Police.”

Five people were killed in a suicide bomb attack when Boko Haram raided a remote village in northeast Nigeria, a civilian militia member and the emergency services said Thursday.

Ibrahim Liman, from the Civilian Joint Taskforce (CJTF), said the attack happened at Belbelu village, near Kayamla, in the Konduga area of Borno state, at about 10:00 am (0900 GMT).

Gunmen stormed the village and one of the jihadists broke off and headed towards a grain silo, forcing members of the CJTF to open fire.

“They kept firing at them with their muskets from behind the fence while he kept advancing and also firing back with his AK-47,” Liman told AFP.

“When he got closer, he detonated the explosives wrapped around his body, killing four CJTF and wounding two others.

“A woman nearby was also killed. The attack forced the vigilantes to flee back to the village. That led to panic among villagers who began to flee.

“The attackers then moved in and broke in to the silos and took grain, mostly millet, sorghum and maize. They took what they could and vandalised the rest.”

The account was supported by a member of the emergency services in Borno, who asked not to be identified for security reasons.

The Konduga district to the southeast of Maiduguri has been a known hotbed of Boko Haram activity despite government and military claims the group is a spent force.

In August, four members of the CJTF were among five people killed in a Boko Haram ambush on a convoy of trucks under armed escort at Meleri village.

In June, Boko Haram gunmen hid in trees and killed eight members of the CJTF outside Kayamla. Eight loggers were killed and their bodies burnt near the village in April.

Militant fighters killed four traders at the weekly market in the village in April 2015 before looting food and taking away livestock.

In March 2014, five people were killed and several others wounded when the Nigerian Air Force bombed Kayamla in the mistaken belief it was a Boko Haram camp.

The latest attacks underline the continued threat from the Islamist rebels, particularly against vulnerable communities in hard-to-reach rural areas.

On Wednesday, the Norwegian Refugee Council published new research that indicated most of the 1.8 million people still displaced by the conflict would not return home because of fears about security.

The biggest threat to civilians has been suicide bombers.

Borno state police said three women strapped with explosives tried to get into Molai General Hospital, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, at about 8:30 pm on Wednesday.

They blew themselves up but there were no other injuries. About two hours later, a fourth bomber blew up in a nearby village.

‘President Buhari Is Guided By Thieves & Fighting Corruption Alone’ – Renowned Kenyan Professor Blow Hot

A renowned Kenyan legal scholar, Professor Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba, believes that President Muhammadu Buhari is alone in the fight against corruption in Nigeria, as many high-profile public office holders and officials are corrupt.

In an interview with SaharaReporters, Professor Lumumba, former director of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission, said the Nigerian president’s lack of support is one of the reasons why his anti-corruption campaign has not been successful in producing its intended results.
He emphasized that Mr. Buhari is surrounded by corrupt individuals who have normalized corruption in Nigerian society and have prevented his fight against corruption from taking off.
“I wish President Buhari institutionalizes and ensures that his agenda is bought by others. No matter how good your idea is, it must be sold to others and they must buy into it. That is how you institutionalize the idea. You cannot be a lone warrior in this matter because the children of darkness hunt like a pack of wolves and they will devour you if you are alone,” Professor Lumumba said.

“What President Buhari must do is to recruit the population. If the population has been wedded to the idea that corruption is a bad thing, then that is the beginning of the success of that battle,” he added.
Condemning the institutionalization of corruption in Nigeria, Professor Lumumba suggested that the Buhari administration introduce stricter punishments for those found guilty of corruption.
“When I see the former Minister of Petroleum [Diezani Alison-Madueke] being investigated for corruption, without being a sadist, I become very happy because her wealth is unexplained. She can’t make that money even if she lives a thousand years. What lacks in Africa is punishment, impunity is alive and well in Africa and we, the electorate, are in the business of celebrating thieves.
“Many of these individuals who are in the position of power don’t want to leave because they are thieves and they are scared that if they leave office, they will be prosecuted, and my view is that they should be prosecuted,” he said.
Commenting on the cost of corruption in the country, Professor Lumumba noted that people are dying on roads due to potholes because some government officials stole money that ought to have been used to build and maintain good roads. He said this amounts to a crime against humanity and must be punished accordingly.
Professor Lumumba further lamented the political apathy among African youths and urged them to take part in the fight against their corrupt leaders.
“Our young people in Africa today are imprisoned by Arsenal and Barcelona and our young girls are imprisoned by Beyoncé and South American soap operas. How can our continent be so accursed that our younger people have no sense of our history, present, and future?

“Our young people must wake up and it is the day that they wake up they will be able to send a clear message to that imposition of leadership that you cannot continue to misgovern us. I look forward to those days,” he said.
The professor insisted that it is a revolution of the mind which is genuinely led by the young ones that will uplift Africa to par with the rest of the world, adding that Africa has what it takes to achieve this feat.
