Sorry, Sir; but Lagos is not SW... Google is your friend. Lagos was a separate colony ruled by the British...

I know you don't like to hear it, but when we say Lagos is no man's land, all it means is that there are many tribes that meet in this place... do you agree? if yes, then you agree that Lag. is no man's land, if no, then you need to visit Lagos...das all

Stop lumping all Igbos into this nonsense.

Word!

These are politicians that just want to fill their personal pockets, not really caring about the general population of Igbos in Lagos... or the govt./Igbo relationship....

If you ask me, they should go and sit down.

Any foreigner who reads this deluded twaddle would think Yoruba land is like some utopian Scandinavian welfare state that has freely catered to destitute Igbos who arrived with only their clothes on their backs. Who would know it's just like any other impoverished area in Africa with tons of people living in squalor - except many of its impoverished indigenes sell off their land to settlers and then get all outraged at the suggestion they're ceding control of the land they're selling. Whatever we get in this state, we work for it. You do not provide any "benefits" whatsoever to settlers. All the settlers do is add to the economy and drive commerce and pay their taxes. People come to Lagos because it's the industrial and commercial nerve centre of the country, with port facilities and a huge market to target. They don't come because they're expecting any benefits from anyone. Benefits from who? Who do you think you're fooling wih your delusional self-flattery?
it makes them feel good about themselves, believing that something the do not own, but claim to won, Lagos, saves the Igbo that migrates to Lagos.

hardwork is what makes the Igbo man successful... but they would rather lay claim to the factors of production than hail the ingenuity of the Igbos...

It does make me laugh each time they talk about how they received Igbos lol its so funny; you would think Igbos have it sooo god, better than those fleeing war or famine... na wah o!

You are a dullard!

All the lands are mine ... you say it as if it is a way of terminating the entire population of Igbos in Lagos...

so lets say an Igbo man bought land in 1990 and in 99 years... will your brother still be governor and commissioner?

wouldn't it be full hearty of you to say that you know for sure who will be governor/commissioner in 60 years time and such a person will evacuate all Igbos...

Listen, Igbos can not be eradicated from Lagos... its not possible. Even if they are renters (and you cant say all Yoruba renters will exclude Igbos as tenants( will not be tribalistic...

The sooner we evolve as a people and state, the better for us all and the country.

P.S. if you want to be progressives, why exclude others from political participation in Lagos?

I don tire...default.

My Yoruba brother(Governor/commissioner) will reclaim the few ibo owned lands when the leases expire.

are you kidding when you say some of the things you post on here?

for example, collecting all the lease when they expireFor now, I'll enjoy the heavy land use charge you pay.

Regarding the counorship position, the Yorubas there would have elected the ibo man with an open mind and the ibo man must have Yorubanised himself so much so that it would be difficult to tell. He may have a Yoruba wife, mum, speak Yoruba fluently etc.

Also, the Yorubas there are most likely unaware of ibos and their boastful utterances and tendencies albeit empty on NL.

I said ibos would never be allowed to hold elective positions in Lagos politics. Tinubu gave ibos 2 irrelevant political appointments only. No elective slots!
You consider the commissioner's position an irrelevant position?

I beg to differ: he gets his budget, appoints his own assistants, and overlooks the entire ministry (of finance, budgeting ro whatever title it was) in the state... and you say it is irrelevant?

How?

I see you are now differentiating elective and appointed positions ... I, as an Igbo residing in Lagos, will be happy to participate in either - whether appointment or elected position.

So are you okay then to have Igbos in appointed positions, say, Tinubu putting some of his Igbos friends in positions in LASG?

It was only one post of yours that I saw and knew the type of person you are.

Your subsequent comments buttresses the fact that your type of people are needed to be in government in Nigeria.
The ugly situation they make out of people seeking inclusion in their country stems out of insecurity, as well as what I believe is a form of PHD syndrome, a belief that if you get X you won't thank them, bow and worship them etc... lol we are indeed in a funny country, complicated though...

You may say that Yorubas are not cowards, but that is hard to believe when on a thread like this, all you see is fear, fear and more fear expressed in peoples post. "We will do this" and "we will do that."

In the thread on Okoroji's declaration it was the same thing... why are they scared?

In the advanced countries that we keep comparing Nigeria to, any body from any part of the country, as long as you have a passport, your coming out to run for office will e seen as a sign of the country maturing and being more cosmopolitan.

Arnold became governor, yet we all know where he was from before becoming a naturalized American.

Making noise doesn't make you look tough or mature or whatever... it propagates the notion of cowardice that you seem to want to dissociate Yorubas from.

If you are agitating for an inclusion, you should participate. That's what a rational person would do.

Why not take over the state? In Nigeria, we practice democracy which is a game of number. If you have the number you can legitimately take over the state. What I found disgusting is how a group who is supposed to be the majority can be crying just to be noticed.

On this blog, many Igbo have claimed to be the bedrock of Lagos economy. Now, you have the resources, why can't you promote just one candidate to be the governor?

On this blog, many Igbo have claimed to be the majority in Lagos state, why can't you use that majority to elect a governor?

If you are the majority in the state, why is there no Igbo in Lagos state House of Assembly?

Instead of fighting Fasola, isn't it rational for Igbo to use their majority to elect this our man:

The question now is, why demand recognition and benefits from the same state you are working against politically, economically and infrastructurally?

An Igbo is Iya'loja....

Councillor, Commissioner, etc...

Igbos live peacefully with other tribes all over Nigeria... and the globe;no reasonable person will start throwing tantrums because someone else they feel is an "outsider" wants to run for office.

it is at this juncture that I want to ask: what exactly are you guys afraid of?

You didn't earn anything politically or even socially and you care less about other people, this is just trying to bully other people to get what you want and even what you didn't earn.

Earning something means respecting other people, their hospitality and generosity, respecting other people's way of life and culture, respecting their land, respecting their laws and policies all which you people are yet do, all you do is insult other people.

Every other ethnic groups in Nigeria residing in Lagos state respects the laws and policies in Lagos, but not you people, you cry and complain over everything, you think every passed laws to designed to benefit the society goes against ibo people, even deportation was anti ibo when in fact it was the other way around since folks from other states gets the same treatment, even your own states deports all the time.

The say clean up your mess in Ladipo and you people turned the whole thing into anti ibo and tribal drama, they say pay your taxes like the rest of the state, but you cry and yell that the state is overtaxing ibo people when in fact Lagos state has nothing to do with Nigeria's taxation laws, they just want you to pay like the rest of the state .

In fact, when was the last time you stayed with the people of Lagos state or showed any kind of solidarity in times of trouble? Never. You dump the people of Lagos and jump on the next EKENEDILICHUKWU BUS back to your villages and let the people of Lagos fend for themselves and save their own souls.

Tribalism and ethnic bigotry is the other way around and when it comes to ibo people, you don't hide it, we hear you spew it everyday and even your leaders spew the same garbage endlessly. Ibo people and their leaders went to town just went to town claiming Lagos is no man's land so if Lagos is really no mans land, why not just go ahead and claim it and even elect your own governor and officials?

You are begging, crying and seeking relevance because you know Lagos belongs to the people of Lagos and not you.

The same lies told over and over and over again.... an outsider reading will think there are a group of Yorubas at the entrance of Lagos with a blanket, pillow, house key and car keys, with a bottle of oil, welcoming each person in and guaranteeing his safety with a contract that says such outsider will be protected all the time, everywhere in Lagos ...

By round of applause, a manner of speaking for sure - how many migrants to Lagos were welcomed by a Yorua and guaranteed safety while in Lagos, at the point of entry into Lagos? Please holla, we will want to verify this once and for all...

(or lay this age-old like to rest in this passing 2014...)

Nonsense

Nigeria is made of different ethnic groups!!

Lagos is YORUBALAND!!!!

That ethnic homogeneity you talk about is only possible because YORUBAS are welcoming and give your iboe people a chance to escape poverty .
As always, you iboes will take people for fools and have declared Lagos as no man's land which is bullshiiite.

Iboes are immigrants in Lagos and all Yorubaland. U are here because we welcome u and let u live peacefully and have a life you would not have in your village

Let me ask you this though:

Which states will you say are highly multi-ethnic? discounting the land owners of course... lets also leave Lagos and Abuja out of it... so top five will e...?
LogicPower:
Although, as you rightly pointed out, Lagos is unique in its multi-cultural nature, yet we should NOT expect the state ALONE to do away with the ethon-religious considerations which you said impede the unity and progress of Nigeria, while other states maintain THESE SAME ethno-religious considerations in dealing with the non-indigenes in their respective states. It does NOT make sense!.
PoliticsRe: Igbo Group In Lagos Writes Fashola, Complains About Marginalisation by Remarkable: 3:02am On Dec 28, 2014
I do agree with your postulations, but want to expatiate further on a few points... the few states that have been progressive in being "untribal" includes states of the former eastern regionEnugu and Abia, I am sure of; funny enough these two states have also had a history of discrimination as well.

So isn't the bottom line really that it takes a good administrator or political administration to draw in a diverse labor force (especially when its citizens are diverse/has a major presence).

You feel me, dawg?
LogicPower:
Although there might be some basis for some of the complaints raised by this group, I think the TIMING and the OPEN nature of this letter make the whole thing smell of POLITICS, rather than a genuine, non-partisan agitation for better socio-economic conditions and more political rights for the Igbos resident in Lagos.

Besides, I think Lagos is one of the few states that have been making some appreciable progress towards addressing the often tricky and sensitive issue of non-indigenes in their states, as some Igbos, Hausas and some other communities have been appointed into some government positions to give them sense of belonging in the state. Many states have NOT started doing that yet.

Yeah yeah yeah, we know...

the same way you plan to stabilize world oil prices, right?

Mtchew!
sathel:
The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Wednesday said that though Nigeria is a rich nation, its people are extremely poor due to bad governance.
He also promised to involve serving and retired military generals to devise an effective strategy to crush insurgency in the country, if elected as President in 2015.

Buhari, in his Christmas goodwill message signed by the Director of Communications, Buhari Campaign Organisation, Mr. Dele Alake, expressed displeasure at the security challenges in the country and the poor state of Nigerian roads.

He said his administration would focus on how best to “make the condition of living of the common man the index for the assessment of our policies and not the amount of billionaires our administration would have made.”
Buhari felicitated with Christians in the country as they celebrated Christmas, assuring Nigerians that they would have better reasons to celebrate the festival if he is elected in 2015.

He said, “On my part, I intend to initiate consultations with serving generals and those who have served our country and distinguished themselves on the battlefield across the world to work out an alternative and effective strategy to crush this insurgency within the shortest possible time if elected president on February 14, 2015.

“I have said that I live the life of a pensioner. I share the burden and anxiety of majority of our poor, powerless people. I have offered myself on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, the party of change, because I desire to give back to a country that clothed, fed and trained me to be what I am today. Our people are poor. But our country is rich.”

The former Head of State, who berated the President Goodluck Jonathan administration over rising poverty in the country, said, “In a nation where a few individuals could raise N21bn because they wanted to make their friend President, millions of citizens, who truly own the resources being accumulated by a few, are left to suffer in sorrow, tears and blood.

Buhari said while many Nigerians travelling towards the eastern part of the country would encounter “the failed promises of the Second Niger Bridge;” those travelling through the South-West would “have to bear the gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.”

He noted that millions of Nigerians would celebrate the Christmas season in poverty and misery because “the system of production and distribution of national resources has been rigged against the vast majority of our people.”
He said, “We promise that, by Christmas 2015, our administration would have brought out efficiency in management and allocation of public resources to make the inter-state roads smoother and easier to ride.

“Christmas is a season when we all embark on journeys to join our brothers and sisters in our native towns to hold town hall meetings, inaugurate community projects and exercise our cultural rights.

“This year’s celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ symbolises peace, love and togetherness to mankind. It reminds us, once again, of the exemplary life of Jesus Christ and the ordinary yet spectacular circumstances of His birth. His life enjoins all of us to follow his path by offering to sacrifice our selfish desires for the good of our country and mankind in general. This event, however, is taking place at a period of serious security challenges across the length and breadth of our dear country.

“The right to life, guaranteed by our constitution, is under savage assault. The stories of murder in the print and electronic media make you shiver to the bones. The daredevilry of the Godless Boko Haram, which penetrated battle lines in the North-East to commit suicidal blasts in the north central capital cities of Bauchi and Gombe, demonstrates the crucial need to review the military strategy of our defence forces.”

Buhari also promised to initiate policies that would ensure the empowerment of the masses, adding that his presidential ambition was borne out of the need to alleviate poverty and establish a system where the rule of law prevails.
He added, “Certainly, there will be changes in policies. We cannot continue to enslave our country to those who tell us that we are in economic crises because of loans.”
IT IS THE DUTY OF THE C-IN-C (COMMANDER IN CHIEF) WHO OF COURSE IS THE SERVING PRESIDENT - TO PROVIDE SECURITY OF LIFE AND PROPERTY OF NOT JUST THE CITIZENRY BUT ALSO FOR IMMIGRANTS RESIDENT IN THE COUNTRY. IN FACT PART OF THE OAT OF OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT IS MAJORLY TO PROVIDE SECURITY FOR THE CITIZENRY AND ALSO PROVIDE ECONOMIC WELL BEING OF ALL AND SUNDRY.

PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN HAS FAILED WOEFULLY IN THIS REGARD. IT WILL BE DISASTROUS FOR NOT JUST NIGERIA AS A COUNTRY TO STILL VOTE GEJ FOR 2015, BUT FOR THE ENTIRE WEST AFRICA IF GEJ SHOULD CONTINUE BEYOND 2015.

MYSELF, MY ENTIRE FAMILY AND KINSMEN HAS DECIDED THAT A CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP IS IMPORTANT SO AS TO SECURE THE LIVES AND PROPERTIES OF OUR TRIBESMEN AND WOMEN RESIDENT IN VARIOUS PART OF NIGERIA BY VOTING IN A MAN WHO HAS THE LIVER TO FIGHT INSURGENCY AND TERRORISM!

SO MY BROTHER, INSTEAD OF PRAYING FOR A DIVIDED NIGERIA, START CAMPAIGN FOR A POSITIVE CHANGE IN GOVERNANCE IN THE PERSON OF GEN. MUHAMMADU BUHARI COME FEB. 2015! I GUARANTEE YOU THAT HIS GOVERNMENT WILL TOUCH OUR LIVES POSITIVELY!

LONG LIVE THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA!

LONG LIVE INDIGBO!

LONG LIVE GMB!

My good friend, you know that I have a way of detecting you no matter how hard you try to disguise yourself?

As long as you keep on being a camelion on this NL, I've put a tag on you and will keep exposing you for the double-faced, slimy and deceitful soul that you are.

You are Igbo only in your dreams... and since you and your SW tribalists have refused to wake up and stop being delusional, we will have to do it with our PVCs... till then, happy dreaming, you jobless fellow.

You have spoken well and what you have said is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

That they ar dreaming is what I dub delusional... like they've been hypnotized, especially the youths... but I can tell you this in confidence and it is the truth, those supporting Buhari... are not doing so because they truly want him as president;what has happened is they begain lieing to themselves and eventually others... national debt clearance, refineries, economic reforms and etc... but you know what?i don't want to say its cool - because all politicians are liars, but what they doing now is what PDP had done in the years past, and they have matured to the point they are now, APC is a newcomer to the game and nothing shows it more than the billions raised by PDP compared to GMB... unless he has a thing or two up his sleeveso nweghi ebe o ji azu aga... he is going nowhere (near Aso Rock!)

tinkinjow:
A lot of people are still learners when it comes to Nigerian politics. I seriously pity una. When the Oduahs of this world did neighbour to neighbour u guys think it was achieved through a news conference?

Make una keep dreaming. Days back PDP realised over 20 billion in donations, today Buhari announced some tens of millions. Very funny. He deceived himself that he can get the presidency by appearing as the underdog with no money to spend. He needs to live another 20 years for that to happen in Nigeria at least with regards to the presidential elections.
Some other time he's borrowing money to buy nomination forms. What a clown!

For those of you who are so dreamy to be aware, the worst result for Jonathan in next year's elections is a no elections. Trust me, that will be the best result for Jonathan personally.

Meanwhile you guys can keep dreaming. It's harmless and probably tickles your fancies. Sweet dreams!

The more they hype this progressive, serial loser and raise the pedestal he's been placed on by unfortunately deluded minds, it only makes his eventual collapse more disastrous.

(This fall go pass the one wey Oduduwa fall)...
publisher:
Silly thread...na who sabi this House-to-house coordinator? Abi na because him papa na ex-PDP senator?

Yeye dey smell...

GEJ is sweeping the polls in 2015 while Buhari will be sweeping cow dung in his Daura ,Katsina compound. After all, Buhari cant live without cows according to his recent statement.

I'm actually very glad at Buhari's early aggressive campaign especially online, it has given PDP enough expo on how to finish Buhari for good and forever. Well done Obiageli, Barcanista and co.
