laurel03:The governors are powerful enough to command the respect of the FG but the LG aren't that powerful go command same respect from their governors. The FG would have loved to reduce what goes to state but wouldn't try that, they know what goes on in those states and governors too knows what goes in in the LGs. Nested corruption is the issue here. |

The last one we stocked is still there, I am sure when they eventually go on strike, the foods should be exhausted and help bring the strike to an early end. The strike is bound to fail because hunger is a two-way force. It is capable of pushing one forward and pulling back. |
Heavy gaming, streaming and critical communication will be great on this kind of connection. Next level. |
I don’t know if Tinubu and his team are finally realizing that the problem with fuel subsidy was the monstrous corruption in it and not the subsidy itself. Most of what passed as fuel subsidy was fraud. Any government worth the name should be able to tackle the corruption and administer subsidies for the collective benefit of Nigerians.Apt! |
After getting elected, they resumed intense politics so want to cancel the last guy by undoing his deeds. |

004gist:change career! |
That's how God made it. |
Why give you at that rate (N410 + N70 = N480) when they can go to black market and resell for over N700? Maybe the process is too tedious to circumvent for our civil workers then. |
Ignorance. |
Ofemmanu1:Sorry for your pains. |
DaddyJapan:Most of our GDP is in the ground in form of oil and do not go through the populace before finding its way out of the economy to London, Dubai, Paris and Switzerland. Taxing people for personal income is like taxing them for survival because they are just surviving when you consider the fact Nigerians spend the highest percentage of the income on food globally. |
JasonScoolari:that's perfectly normal as long it is coming from the state specific taxes and call routing cost. |
Error and catastrophy. They will simply relocate their assets and profit to leave the economy in more perils. Why not tax nonproductive consumptions, especially the imported ones. Cigarette, wines, fashion, gadgets, and digital services like Netflix and SM? That will reduce demand for forex and strengthen the naira. It will also promote employment because the rich you are about to chase out with tax will rather invest in local production of previously imported foreign goods with their wealth than run away. Dangote is a good example. This govt is an evil one. Ignorance is evil. |
CSTRR:You are very wrong. Economy is production centred. CBN is money and banking centred. Two very different things 99.9% of people can't differentiate. |
Fujiyama:CBN is the bank of banks. The central one. He is right. CBN is monetary management and banking centred. The love of money(micro economics) has made people assume whoever control money controls the economy. That's wrong. Supply of money can affect inflation but increase in production can equally effect or negate inflation so economic and currency strength goes well beyond CBN. |
bigtt76:God bless you for this. |
oche2020:was there global recession under those economists? |
Kukutente23:For an economy that is crude oil dependent, crude oil earnings placed side by side will have gone a long way to strengthen the point being sold to us. What was supply and demand for forex like then too? I remember Soludo capitalization of local banks with $6Bn, where is the 6Bn to do same today? I remember sanusi building billion naira projects in schools (ABU and more). Where is the fund to do those today? |
tolue42:we have them, but they hardly practice. |
Kelvinofficial:EEnefiele was doing the right thing then something entered his brains and he picked a form. He also implemented policies people believed was targeted at his political rivals at party level. The sensible thing to do was to support Dangote and substitute importation of petrol with local production. He was doing that until his naira mop up, disguised as redesign policy, turned ignorant majority against him. Tinubu needed a cheap fall guy and started deviating from a perfectly working plan because of cheap propaganda based politics. A big shame! |
Hedonisco:You are interpreting it to the extreme in order to rubbish my point. MC oluomo may or may not make a good CBN governor. It depends on his grasp of the issues and how well he handles them with the available resources. Blaming him or anyone for te effect of unavailable or inadquate resources is what I am against. I am not an Akpu and Ofe bigot FYI. Neither am I an amala and gbegiri bigot. I am just saying it the way it is. Soludo doesn't have dollars in his village to meet the supply shortfall. These are circumstances well beyond the CBN governor. If Dangote fires his refinery and start bring in forex as well as reducing the need for forex, demand will drop drastically and supply will be boosted, that has little or almost nothing to do with the CBN gov. |
Vickyboi205:stop talking what you do not know in full. Was demand as high against supply under Isong and Soludo? In a highly political world were people are willing to take credit for circumstantial gains. Let data for demand vs supply be provided side by side and let's hear what Soludo could have done differently. Was it not Soludo who capitalized a dozen banks with $6 billion again? Where will emefiele or the new guy get such amount from if they decide to do same today? Lets learn to balance circumstances and expectation. |
Seun:The analyst is talking trash. Can a CBN governor adjust demand and supply volume. They can only try to manage how demand is matched to limited supply. Emefiele was doing the right thing but when politics of scapegoating is more important than performance, we get what the current admin is doing. I must say that this data is incomplete because he never provided data to show demand and supply level against actual supply of forex to CBN plus today, demand has been swelled by awareness of commercial opportunities via media. How many mini importers were in Nairaland under Sanausi and Soludo? What was the volume of forex needed for petrol, raw material and machinery imports? His data are partial as far as this topic is concerned. |
When will 10 schools from Nigeria be in top 500? We need that more than cheap school loans. |
tbarrister:donkey urine sipper and pork avoider. Marijuana embracer. Blood spiller. N100 a post. |
Artiiclebeast:floating currency and sinking economy rather. At least the currency.should survive the mishap if the economy sinks. |
We do not want to produce now. We want to be selling crude and be living large while doing nothing productive with our strength. |
tbarrister:Goat thinks I am politician like his great grandfathers and is even exposing his family secrets. |
tbarrister:a head slamming islamist who doesn't realize there are christian Kano locals and it is wrong for govt to adopt a religion. |
