Bane2020:

Why would I hate Yorubas when a yoruba did a lot for my dad in his difficult times... Online tribal hate brings out the worst in people, I'm done with the tribal back and forth, you are right in your postulations, it's best Igbos invest in the East, I'll be in your shoes as well given the circumstance. I'm done with ethnic bashing.

Good luck to you guys.

I am surprised at this post from you given your hardline posture.

The causes for the acrimony between both tribes runs deep and will take many years to remedy. I believe that the online exchanges have contributed in no small measure to the deterioration in the relationship between the youths of both tribes and it cannot be undone easily.

That being said, the short term solution to our differences still remains a restructuring of the federation while we respect each others’ sensibilities and differences online. A situation whereby our online discourse is characterized by insults and muddying of the pool by our igbo brothers will only make tangible rapprochement efforts fail before it even gets started. Take for example the Buhari issue. The igbos have insulted both Yorubas and Hausas to an extent where even liberals who were hitherto opposed to Buhari now have no choice but to stick with him out of tribal loyalty. This has been my personal experience as the igbos have made Nigerian politics an Us v Them scenario thus leaving no grounds for concensus.

I think it’s a little too late in the day to walk back the hateful rhetoric that pervades our online discourse. What we can do now is to respect ourselves and practice the politics of live and let live while respecting the majority decisions.

I hate to look like the purveyor of hate and division but that is what you have made me look like with your post.

Take care.

Why she left the Uk to come work in Nigeria as a Nigerian is beyond me. Despite all the come home and make Nigeria better. It has never worked well. Look at Barth Nnaji, Okonjo Iweala and now Adeosun. You really have to be criminally minded to survive in Nigeria's political environment.

I could come to work in Nigeria as an expatriate but never as a Nigerian. As an expatriate, my country of citizenship would be looking out for me and I would get all the perks and benefit associated with it.

To all those calling for her to be prosecuted. Tough luck. She would have renounced her Nigerian citizenship on arrival to the UK. If you can't bring home a full blooded Nigerian for prosecution from the UK e.g Diezani, how on earth would you accomplish that with a British Citizen?

My brother, I am just tired of Nigeria wahala oo

Abeg, stay put in Canada and don’t try to come back for politics. You can always invest in properties back home but don’t sully your reputation by joining the politics. It’s toxic.

See what they did to aunty kemi? cry

When I read some of the things these yorubas write, I begin to understand better why they are called snakes, imagine them saying that igbo parents has always thought their children how to hate, this is the same ppl that will always remind their daughters not to marry omo igbo, that they will eat their flesh in the east lol.

They said that they never knew about the civil war, that igbos has been showing hatred to them for the past 7 years because of Jonathan and the civil war, and I think to myself, do this ppl actually think that it's all igbos that know about the war? if not for ipob, I wouldn't have known there was anything like biafra.

This yorubas keep on recycling lies upon lies, threatening the ppl that build massively in their region and call it home ( which is very foolish) with genocide, this same Yoruba claim that they are hated by igbo yet no day goes by without a thread about igbos from them, that is to show u who the true hatefull bunch are.

I have given my position and it behoves on you to take the many positives from it for the benefit of your tribe.

Trying to justify the actions of your youth online will not help you as millions are consuming our exchanges here, thus forming subjective opinions which will go a long way in shaping relations between both tribes going forward.

I have done my part in opening the eyes of so many liberals (Yorubas) to the dangers posed by your tribe.

I advise you to build alaigbo as nobody will do it for you. I have not been to the east since after my vocational one year law school program and I hope not to be there again. My region is quite sufficient for me. I want you(and other igbos) to have the same feeling of adequacy for your region for the benefit of the coming generation.

Safe.

This might sound ignorant but I still don’t understand what the hullabaloo is all about.

Is it not that foolish NYSC certificate that I don’t know where I flinged it in my house? Even though I used it to secure the jobs I have done, I still think with respect to Mrs Adeosun, she should not have been vilified for the authenticity or otherwise of her exemption certificate given her peculiar case of having been misled by unscrupulous elements who assured her that her’s was genuine.

Her vilification would have been justified if she forged her college or university certificates, which would have undermined her integrity and the legitimacy of her Office. I just feel she was a victim of high wired ethnic politics by those who have an ax to grind with her and the Yoruba tribe. My joy is that she has left Nigeria with all her rot and gone back to the UK whicih is a saner clime than naija.

I am only worried for the blot this scandal will create on her record in view of future engagements.

This is a sad one.

We can’t be losing our highly trained Generals just like that. It is a symptom of a more fundamental malaise in our security architecture.

I leave the Government—who are charged with the responsibility of formulating policies for securing the nation— to deal with this issue. We cannot continue to bury our heads in the sand like the proverbial ostrich, while denying that nothing is wrong with Nigeria.

Buhari matter na God hand e dey and we the ordinary citizens have no choice but to continue praying for our leaders to get things right, else na yawa we dey ooo.

He is one of the Ibos born in Lagos. They consider themselves a higher being than the Ibos born in East. They call themselves Yoruba to differentiate from other Ibos. Similar thing happened last year when a new identity called Arewa Igbo surfaced. At least those ones retained Igbo....the Lagos born ones just outright drop all reference to yanminri and claim Yoruba. grin

grin grin grin

You should see me laughing hysterically at your comment. It is so funny. The igbo conundrum is a sad tale of how a resourceful tribe has allowed hate to define and drive their grievances with their mother country.

It teaches me a personal lesson to express my misgivings in any situation without recourse to emotions, recriminations and hate. I blame igbo problems in Nigeria on parental indoctrination of hate into their children. If not for indoctrination, I don’t know how this present generation of igbo kids knew so much about a war this generation should not even remember.

I didn’t know about this civil war issue until Jonathan’s Government when the igbos came all out for revenge against Yorubas whose present generation went on about things without a care in the world. We didn’t know about any war because our parents never told us about it. We learnt about that stuff on NL politics section(I personally did). The amount of hate propagated by igbos for the last 7 years is enough to power a nuclear reactor.

The hate is simply too much and it has damaged Nigeria.

Amen my brother!

They cannot do anything to Yoruba race or Yorubaland but yes, they will carry out another ethnic cleansing in civil service. It will be worse than the marginalization treatment under Jonathan and Yoruba will be its worst casualty. Our best foot forward is to put all our ducks in order and block any party that nominates Ibo as presidential candidate or an Ibo as VP.

Exactly!

That’s why I am waiting for who the PDP will choose as its Vice Presidential candidate.

That will determine a lot about next year’s elections.

It is so evident that igbos will harm Yorubas at the slightest opportunity they get and it is so unfair because we are not the one that have done evil against them. All we have done is being nice hosts and neighbors to the igbos. I grew up with many igbos in my compound while growing up and they were not this hateful. The Jonathan Presidency gave them the opportunity to reveal their true nature to Yorubas and I thank God for that revelation of what will befall Yorubas if igbos ever assume the Presidency.

We must do all within our powers to forestall that occurrence. We are also lucky that other Nigerians don’t like the igbos so the likelihood of an Igbo Presidency is actually nonexistent.

Look at his clown, you sure do need a revamp of testosterones cause you running high on that effeminate vibe, a sure recourse for your quite telling situation will be to get laid. You come here and make pointless references to Igbos losing bar elections to some unknown person like you were privy to the actual circumstance and reasons for it(Hey Einstein there are several thousands of prominent legal giants of Igbo stock doing very in capacities of leadership and advocacy within and outside Nigeria), so stop overblowing your own importance when you're just one insecure piece of crap making insinuations that border on just sheer envy and self-predilections for delusions.

If Igbos want the presidency, there is nothing and nobody that will stop them. All they need is the unity and right alliances with the people that actually count (The North and some parts of the South South), and it's shaping up to that reality ahead of 2023, your region is overrated, and antecedents of history that left your people in the wilderness of playing opposition for years after been sidelined by the rest proved that. Even when it seems the South west finally managed to break through the shackles of been irrelevant, and aligned with the North to get the VP slot, all ministerial and key appointments made so far in this administration have heavily tilted towards the North, your people once again have been used and dumped.

Yada yada yada, you just keep going on and on and on with your incoherent, unpunctuated and unarranged drivel.

In response to the nonsense above, let’s see you get that Presidency. Nobody is stopping igbos from vying for the top position. Just do it and stop procrastinating.

Let’s see where rabid hate and propaganda peddling will get igbos politically.

There are millions of yoruba hawks who will get into positions of authority soon enough(I know many) and they don’t like igbos, neither are they politically correct.

What that means is that even igbo trade all over Nigeria is not safe. The future indeed looks bleak for these people. Only them can save themselves—by stopping the wanton indoctrination of their kids to hate other Nigerians and investing massively in their homeland.

Anything other than this will ensure igbos remain 2nd class citizens in Nigeria. Heck, I even respect an ijaw and edo person more than igbos. The igbo is only an itinerant trader in Nigeria who over estimates his importance to the nation.

You should separate the bloated bureaucracy and its drag on citizenry from the subject at hand, which is....the risk Yoruba face if we slack and yield the ground for Ibo to be in line of succession to the presidency or as a presidential candidate of a winning party.

This is not America or UK and we will never ever, as Nigerians, match up to those two places so no need to pretend ourselves as champion of equity and democracy. Yoruba must prevent and blovk Ibo from ever ascending this presidency.

As far Biafra is concerned thats a whole separate issue as well. No Nigerian is holding you back. You were kicked out of North last year and your leaders begged to have that eviction notice withdrawn. True or false? Your own Ibos have scattered investments all over Nigeria and are hooked to the honey they feed on. Its too sweet for them to detach from. There is no honey in alqibo to feed their taste and hunger. They are the ones opposing Biafra. They are the ones whispering behind closed doors to Buratai to dispatch military to East and clean out ipob before it becomes uncontrolably and Biafra is actualized indeed. Look Peter Obi in his face, look at Orji Kalu in his face, look at Ifeanyi Ubah and Chris Uba and all these your people...Nnia Nwodo dem, they are the ones stopping Biafra, not Yoruba and not Hausa. If you meant to leave you had ample chance last year to make it happen when you werw told to go ahead and separate. Why didnt you?

OMG, Babaramota, God will bless you and all you hold dear. You have spoken the mind of millions of Nigerians by explaining those against Biafra!

I have lectured and sought to help the igbos actualise Biafra on this forum for 7 years but what do I get? Hate and insults from the same people who made my yoruba tribe hate me

May the Yoruba nation never witness the calamity of an igbo Presidency as that will spell doom for the very existence of the Yorubas. The igbos will make sure they extract their pound of flesh for transgressions Yorubas never committed.

Since they have failed to be civil and rational in social discourse and interactions with other tribes, may they continue to be at the backwaters of Nigeria’s political milieu for life!
