The village is called Abule Otun inside inside far from owode egba. My farm land will have my warehouse and office building, I was only thinking of using the land I have in owode egba for the container building so that I can stay there anytime I’m around I would not like to build a house I don’t stay often and I don’t like the idea of tenants living with me.
Okay. The container house is good.
Is the Abule Otun located along Owode-Ofada way?

Yes I’m doing it for profit because it is my investment. Giving back to the community is my plan to provide the kids with educational materials, renovation of the community school toilet and provide the community with clean borehole water powered by solar
Building a concrete house may be better because you can have an office attached for official engagements. Also, depreciation on the container house will be more rapid than that of a brick house.

Where at Owode Egba is the proposed farm location? I also run a farm very close to Owode town (Siun axis).

Thanks so much sir.
But this melting I'm saying, even fruits ( both emerging ones and matured ) high elevated at the top will just melt from the inside. No single spot on the outside.

If you sight the fruit from a distance, you'll assume its a very strong green healthy fruit until you come close to touch it, then you'll discover it's just a bag of water, if you press it too hard, it will jus puff and spill on you huh
A colleague of mine also experienced it many in his farm.
That's the form of rot I also experienced.
Those having direct contact with the soil are more susceptible.

Also all the Oga in the house please any alternative fungicide compare to Cabro duo interms of effectiveness and prices comparing ,cos I hardly found Cabro duo nowadays. Stockup for next season.
Cabrio-Duo production has been halted. CDN Thunda is a good alternative.

I saw a lot. Wasted so many cukes. Results from my findings say it's soil soil-borne fungi attack. Like you said; as a result of the rain.
1. What's your take, sir? How can we tackle this during rainy periods?

2. And please sir, do you plant in singles or doubles? I'm reviewing to work on my spacing.
1. Those fruits lying on the ground are more susceptible to rot because of constant contact with wet/cold soil. In addition to a good fungicide treatment, the application of calcium (foliar, top dressing, or fertigation) will also go a long way in hardening the flesh and endoderm of the fruits.

2. I use double rows per bed to maximize space, shade the beds (reduce soil evaporation during dry seasons and control weeds), and maximize fertilization. Although it requires more intensive pest and disease management, the result is justified.

Did you experience some fruits melting?
Yes. Saw a few. The moisture from the rains is too much hence the few rot.
How prevalent is yours?

Noted... Am going in my first cucumber dry season planting. Am taking in all the information I can get.

How can we limit the effect of snails on the farm?
Since your plan is for the dry season, you may not encounter such. But for reference purposes, there are commercial molluscicides sold at agrochemical stores.

217 bags from 7500 seeds... Don't you think it is a poor harvest... That is an average of 2 fruits per plant
Did you think the whole 7,500 seeds survived?
When the great damage snails did to the young seedlings at sprouting and a few other limitations are considered, you'll know that my yield was nothing short of God's magnanimous blessings. We never thought snails could constitute a serious threat until this batch.
Even with gap-ups/replacements, the establishment rate was at most 80%.

In addition, managing a larger number of stands is more tasking and requires a lot of effort and resources compared to a smaller number. One can easily get higher efficiency on 1 or 2 packs of seeds compared to 6 to 8 packs.

Finally did my last cucumber harvest today.

Yield: 217 bags total.
Seed variety: African giant (CU999).
Seed quantity: 4½ packs (±225 grams).
Fertilization: NPK + Urea on 20 out of 51beds; basal manuring and foliar sprays on all beds.

Warming up for the last batch of cucumber for the year.

Good evening my bosses...

Please I am working on a research and I need a specific number for the average no of Delhi crate of tomato that can be gotten from an acre of Tomato (platinum or cobra) using good agricultural practices.

I would appreciate prompt reply from my experienced bosses here
@farmerakinloye6
@REUBEN010
@oluchidelly
Spacing, plant population, day length, management, climatic and edaphic factors to a large extent determines yield.

2nd Quarter of this year, I got 74 crates on 3 plots with 2,000m drip tape (Cobra 26F1). Although there was some compromise on management, we hope to do better with subsequent batches.

They wont say anything about the quality of the fruit, they just want to make more money than the farmer, Lagos is better only transport is the main issue
If you're moving it to Mile 12 this season, you need to pray for the best while expecting the worst because by the time market agents and transporters start their deduction, you'll feel cheated.

When Cobra was selling for #12k per crate in my locality at Ogun State, I decided to test Mile 12 with 3crates. After transport (#1k per crate) and agent fee deductions, they sent me #20,185 for the 3crates when I would have gotten 36k for same number of crates if sold in my locality.

I don't trust Mile 12 market.

I sold Cobra 16k, diva 16.5k and plantinum 13.5k this morning...
Your Diva is enticing me oo. Seems I'll try it alongside my regular Cobra next season.

I noticed that I have a few tomato stands producing pumpkin-shaped tomato fruits (with deep flutes and contours) amongst my Cobra in two consecutive batches even though I only grow Cobra 26F1 for now.
You also made a complaint of such nature concerning Greengo.
AgricultureRe: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by REUBEN010(m): 5:07am On Sep 05, 2023
Farmerakinloye6:
East west and modification palava huh..note the only cultivar I do plant is greengo so no other cultivar crossing it. Stand producing albino fruit is up to like 15 stand huh Which is not marketable at all.
Maybe Hadiza's attention should be called to it privately on Facebook. It's not right to have different quality of same seeds across batches. It makes budgeting more difficult and unpredictable.

thanks!

Some other farmers of the vegetable have helped me identify the problem. It is toxins from the roots of siam weed(young awolowo plants) growing nearby that is killing the plants.

After embarking on mechanical weeding on the beds yesterday i noticed it has stopped affecting the plants
Allelopathic effect of the akintola (Awolowo) weeds on your crops. Aspilia africana also produce such effect.

diva is More bushier than Cobra, and Cobra has more branches than diva. Anybody that planted diva last year will know there is modification done to the seed, last year seed was so tiny, as in difficult to plant. the fruit is more in number and bigger compare to this current. The current advantage now, it has more bacteria wilt resistance than the previous one, and easy to plant than the previous seed. East west should do better because I will prefer More in number of fruit and Bigger!
They've successfully sacrificed more yield for disease resistance.
Please how's their resistance to bacterial leaf spot and what number of stands can be averagely gotten from a 5g pack?

I think it also depends on price...
I'm always amazed when I hear they're selling cucumber for 9 to 11k in Akure... It's always been 5-7k here in osun o... So I think price matters too sha
Same here. For the past 2weeks, cukes price has been within the range of 4k-6k per bag over here. Although bagging differs.

Hello. Please how many pepper plants can I fit on my 2plots of land to get maximum possible output sir
In my opinion, I classify pepper population on a plot of 450Sqm as follows:
Low population(wider spacing): 400-450 stands.
Moderate population(mod. spacing): 451-550 stands.
High population(low spacing): 550-800 stands.

Your plant population is dependent on factors such as:

*Type of irrigation (different spacing for different irrigation systems).

*Plantlife (the longer you intend to harvest the peppers, the wider the spacing to accommodate more branching).

*Experience (Closer spacing requires more managerial skills and abilities because you'll battle more bacterial and fungal diseases).

*Availability of other resources (the availability of other resources such as money, manure, time, water, etc. determines your plant population because it's wiser to have fewer stands on wider spacing that you can comfortably manage compared to spreading lean resources over high population. When well managed, the fewer stands will give you equivalent or more yield compared to the high population density). The wider spacing gives room for heavier branching and more fruiting. Imagine rationing manure/fertilizer/water meant for 800 stands for 1500 stands.

But high population density (closer spacing) also has some advantages over low population. A few of these are:

*Your harvest will come heavy earlier compared to that of the low population.

*High population can become an effective means of weed control because they will shade the ground against weed earlier than low population.

*You will break-even faster on high population than low population.

The choice is yours.

A crate of hybrid currently sells #10,000 in my location. Considering the size of your tomato fruits, it may sell lesser.
